We recently hired Julio Garcia from Murray Hill Talent for our wedding and had an amazing time! The dance floor ended up being too small because of the energy that Julio brought. Being a wedding between an Irish and a Peruvian family, the music played spanned genres, decades and languages - the transitions were one of one. Aside from the music, Julio helped MC the event as well, periodically checking in with us, helping organize extended family photos during cocktail hour and ensuring that he made the right choice as to when to start the music given that the dinner service was a bit behind. We booked the band "Flip Side" through Murray Hill Talent for our wedding in Aug. 2024 at the Crane Estate in MA. From a selection and planning standpoint, they were very easy to work with. They had online video samples of performances, a lengthy playlists, and easy to use worksheets for music planning. Specifically, we worked with Corin A. from from start to finish which was incredibly helpful. We had a pianist & violinist team play classic interpretations of modern songs for the ceremony. For cocktail hour, we used an acoustic guitarist and saxophonists, all coordinated through MHT and Flipside. For the reception, we went with the full 8 piece band. They brought a lot of energy, read the room on their playlist, interacted with guests and us, and kept people on the dance floor until the very end of the night. Things went very smoothly on the day of and we were very happy with our decision to book them. Your wedding band choice can be an intimidating decision. If you're thinking about booking Redline for your wedding or, honestly, for any other event, just do it. You don't need to keep reading; book them. If you need some more convincing, read on. In late 2021 my fiancé and I were looking for a band to play our wedding in December, 2022. Having a great, fun band was crucial to us. We came across Redline both via Instagram and via the Murray Hill talent website and we had a good feeling about them. We reached out via Murray Hill and immediately heard back from Ken. Ken was incredibly friendly in his response and sent over detail on Redline along with other bands that could potentially play for us in case we weren't locked in on Redline. He also sent along the information for add-ons, including but not limited to uplighting, photo booths, and additional band members (you have to at least consider having someone walking around ripping the saxophone). We ended up booking Redline and the process was totally seamless; again, Ken was super helpful the whole time. We booked the cocktail duo, an 8-piece band including saxophone for the reception, and uplighting. Easy! Throughout the year, Ken was always available to field questions and would offer to have a call if it would be easier. When you're in the middle of every other aspect of wedding planning, having someone like Ken who is organized, kind, and thoughtful makes things a LOT easier, especially if the band is important to you. All right, let's fast forward to wedding week. We had sent over a worksheet to Ken earlier with a general outline of the night. Entrance songs, first dance song, etc. along with whether there would be a bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc. It was very detailed which will actually help you visualize how the reception will go. We walked through this with Ken step by step and worked with him to adjust accordingly. Again, with the wedding looming, this was actually a calming experience because of the confidence we had in Ken. The day of the wedding, I didn't see Ken and the other band members until the cocktail hour because, well, you know, I was getting married. The cocktail hour duo was incredible. They set such a good vibe for the rest of the night and played a cool mix of songs. Compliments were already flowing from the guests. After the cocktail hour, Ken came to where the wedding party was getting ready for intros while guests filed into the ballroom. This was another instance of what you're getting with Ken and the Redline crew; he worked with the wedding coordinator to get us lined up and ready, get us pumped up, and get us moving. Reception time. From the first dance I had with my now wife, to the last dance of the night (Tiny Dancer- Elton John. Yes, you were curious and yes, it was awesome) everything was perfect. The band was SO good and SO energetic. The mix of songs they played was incredible and this was a wedding where the dance floor was PACKED THE WHOLE TIME with people dancing. It was SO much fun and we still have guests complimenting how great Redline was. Following the wedding weekend, Ken reached out to us with a personalized and heartfelt note about how good of a time the band had and our overall experience together planning over the course of the year. It was just the cherry on top to what was such a wonderful experience. Redline performed at my wedding and was a great performance and overall experience. From the time I met with Ken to kick off the wedding planning he was calm and organized. He knew I was doing this all for the first time and walked me through things that I didnt think about. Made sure we were setting ourselves up with success by picking the right songs, enterances etc. They tailored the music to us (yacht rock and then newer dance music) and also helped insure everything went off without a hitch! We found Murray Hill Talent artist Ken Freeman for our son's Bar Mitzvah in June 2022. From the start Ken was friendly, professional, and clearly understood what we were looking for as a musical enhancement to our party. Ken was very willing to adjust his approach and style to fit our crowd and suggested a trio format he thought would be best to give us the right ambiance and kick when appropriate. Ken arrived with his colleagues early, set up, and got to business giving everyone a perfect level of entertainment throughout the night. Looking around during the dinner party it seemed like at any one time half our friends and family were swaying or grooving to the music (or singing) while the other half were having great conversation and everyone was at some point being taken to their happy place musically -- we had many compliments on our choice of Ken and the trio. I rarely write reviews but this band was amazing. We had Redline as our band at our wedding recently - they were unbelievable!!! Ken was so amazing to work with leading up to the day of the wedding and always got back to us very promptly. They were super accommodating regarding song selections/requests. My husband and I are very picky - he assured us they would play a good mix of old and new music to please our wide range of guests and they absolutely delivered. Wow! Scott Arrington was amazing! We're still getting complements that it was the best wedding ppl have ever been to and our DJ was so on point, the dance floor was full at all times and how great it was that he had multiple generations on the floor the whole night. I couldn't have been happier with him. Also, his communication beforehand was unreal. He sent me the dj planner, was patient with my changes, helped me find versions of songs I liked and he really set me at ease days before when we spoke on the phone. He also helped my fiancé with finding equipment so he could perform a song. If I were to do it all again we'd choose Scott every time. Really can't sing his praises enough. Ryan McHugh was outstanding as well. We booked him at the last minute bc i really wanted an acoustic guitarist with vocals and I couldn't have been happier. Murray Hill is the BEST! They are SO easy to work with and are so talented. I booked a string quartet to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour. Upon hiring, they will send you a list of songs they play. However, given enough notice, they might be able to play a song you request that's not on their list! I was set on walking out to "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys. It wasn't on their list of songs they play but I asked and they said they would do it! My guests raved about their music. The entire band was amazing, but working with Ken was definitely a highlight - he worked with us to put together beautiful ceremony and cocktail music, he went out of his way to help us pick songs, and gave us tons of options and modifications for slowing songs down, changing it to fit the dance - whatever! My company puts on several customer events per year. Some events require simple background music, maybe an ensemble, a DJ, and then there is the kick ass sound you have to have with a good band. My first experience was at a wedding a couple of summers ago in Harwich and the bride and groom had a group called Flipside perform for the evening. It was absolutely fabulous entertainment. A band that you could tell really had fun performing and one that the muscians seemed so engaged. They played a variety of music that appealed to all the guests and then got them on the dance floor moving and shaking. So with this new knowledge I contacted Murray Hill for some music consultation. I needed serious help and the menu of options for events absolutely blew me away. Gone are the days of sleazy DJ's, and bands with questionable equipment. I have been brought to the gates of professional entertainment and it is worth every penny. My first choice was to get Flipside the band from the wedding. They were available and we raised the roof at one of my locations with the introduction of a new product. Again, I hired the guys and gals from Flipside and through Murray and have on 4 occassions with all new product intro's. The contact staff is super professional and the aim to please. So I decide no DJ at this year's Christmas Party. So tired of these guys making it all about them, long breaks, ego's, questionable music, limited speakers and more and more. Now, financially stepping up to a band of the caliber of what Murray Hill offers means digging deep. It is worth it. Do it and just make it part of the budget. Make it an important part of the budget as the band is what it is all about. So Flipside is busy the first weekend in December. Yipes! But we do have Unity and you will "love them Warren" they tell me. They are setting up in our incredibly decorated area for Christmas parties. The band is now warming up and they sound so good. If it were the last few years of DJ's, they would still be smoking butts, grabbing some free booze or scouting out the talent! Not Unity. The Mowtown kicked in and the place went nuts. They then moved through the decades and the qualtiy of music was just so perfect. Search no longer for your music needs. Simply contact Murray Hill! My husband and I got married Friday November 11th, 2016 at Lakeview Pavilion in Foxboro, MA. Being a Norwich Alum, 2-tour Army Veteran and Police Officer, my husband had been suggesting we include the National Anthem somewhere in our Veteran's Day union. "It's only appropriate," he would say, referring to the several Active Duty & Retired Service Members and Veterans, two of which were in our Wedding Party. I pretended to brush him off. Well, husband, I heard you loud and clear. I reached out to Murray Hill Talent February 2016 to see if, by chance, Rene Rancourt was available to surprise my Super Fan fiance. This was a long shot - obviously, Rene Rancourt is booked YEARS in advance for Veterans Day appearances, right? Well, I no sooner sent the email and I was contacted by Tom Pendergast of Murray Hill Talent - Rene was available! WHAT?!? Immediately, I signed the contract and sent in the deposit. I emailed Rene to let him know the approximate time of his performance & also provided him with contact information in the event he needed help sneaking into the venue's Bridal Suite. Also in on the surprise were the Lakeview Pavilion Staff, Videographer, Photographer, DJ & a Groomsman with an accessible cell phone, just in case. We were ready to go! Fast forward to the week of our wedding, Rene called me personally to confirm the appearance and details. He arrived on time and in fashion with an American flag tuxedo vest and red shoes. Directly following dinner, my husband and I did our "Thank You" speech for our guests and, at the end, I introduced Rene Rancourt as my husband's wedding gift. He was fantastic! Rene came out, greeted both my husband and myself and, after a brief introduction, sang the National Anthem as our 200 guests waved American Flags in the air. It was beautiful and the perfect tribute to our Veterans on a day that is also very much about them. Rene stayed and posed for as many pictures as it took to satisfy our guests & vendors, danced with my husband's mother and grandmother and even sent a video tribute to my sister-in-law's cousin currently serving overseas. Two months later, we are still hearing about how fantastic Rene was - he was clearly the highlight of the day. We both come from big hockey families and I'm so grateful this surprise worked out as well as it did! Thank you Tom for your help getting this surprise organized and booked. Dave wove together traditional and modern Lebanese music with American rock/country/pop with skill, energy and expertise. Guests from age 3 - 83 boogied all night long. Last month I had the utmost pleasure of having Scott Arrington DJ my wedding at the Inn on Peaks in Portland, Maine. Scott did a wonderful job and truly made it a night to remember. I hired Murray Hill Talent to DJ my June 2012 wedding based on other yelp reviews, and we were pretty pleased with our DJ, Brian. Dancing was the pinnacle of the reception, and Brian definitely read the crowd well and kept everyone dancing. He was, as the website suggests, really 'behind the scenes' and not showy, he made good music the priority. I also appreciate the company being willing to work with us on price- We originally chose a different DJ from Murray Hill, but when he had to back out due to a prior engagement, we were able to ask a price that fit into our budget to have Brian at our event. The biggest thing we loved about Murray Hill, and the reason we were willing to shell out a little extra for the DJ, was because of the DJs' musical knowledge and experience as spelled out in the website bios. We could have have hired a cheaper DJ for $800 DJ, but then we would be building our own playlist, and in that case we could just plug some speakers into an ipod for the same result. ...or we could hire a DJ with great taste (or at least the ability to read ours!) and leave it all in his hands. We're glad we did! The one mistake (hence the missing star) was that he played a completely different song than the one I requested for the father-daughter dance, and that is a big no-no for most brides. Good thing my father and I were so laid back and able to enjoy the good music in spite of it! read more
