My wife and I put a 500$ deposit down. With more than 2 months notice we had to cancel. Michael understood and was obviously upset. He refused to return our 500$ deposit and there was no clause in our contract stating it was non-refundable, but said we could use it / apply it to any future event with him or his company. Well, we reached out for a quote to have him play at an upcoming event. He has gone ahead and blocked my phone number and ignored our email request. Be careful working with him. I'm sure he's a great DJ when it works out. If you're going to work with him, make sure the event actually happens. That's my only advice. Be warned. read more

We booked him to DJ our wedding on a farm and he really delivered- we requested very specific songs for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and he made it happen. After the wedding I told him that everything didn't run quite so smoothly that day, but the music was one of the few things that did, thanks to him. DJ Michael was absolutely amazing! I can't put into words how wonderful he made our day. From our original meeting with him, through the planning process and the song selections, Michael was incredibly responsive and helpful. We had some changes that we decided to make the day of the wedding, and he was able to accommodate them without any issues. Our goal for the reception was to have people enjoying themselves and dancing, and during the entire night, the only time I saw the dance floor only filled with kids was at the beginning, while the first course was being served. Michael did an impeccable job of reading the crowd and mixing together all of the different decades, languages and genres of music that we asked for. Not only did he provide music, he also provided uplighting which helped set the mood for the evening. The whole night of our wedding, and to this day; we are told "he was an amazing DJ", "that was the best wedding I've been to EVER!", and "my feet hurt the next morning because I danced so much!". If I could give 10 stars I would. Michael absolutely killed it at our wedding. Living in CA at the time of our wedding it was difficult selecting DJs. We ended up going with Michael cause he was laid back and gave us a sense that he could play a mix of old and new music without being cheesy or too "in your face." We couldn't have been happier with our choice. Michael made the process simple throughout. We never even met him beforehand in person, just had a conversation and filled out some paperwork. He was there before the ceremony (even though we only needed him for the reception), and required zero attention from me. He had everything ready to go when it was his time and he certainly brought his A game. He didn't play any corny stuff (though said he would if we wanted). He had a perfect mix of music to get everyone up and dancing, and the floor was packed the entire night. I could barely get to the bar cause I couldn't pull myself away! I've been to a lot of weddings and this was the best dance party I've ever had. And that's not just a grooms bias - many of my friends said likewise. If that all wasn't enough, Michael was very gracious and accommodating, and let us know how well he got along with our other vendors. We had Michael DJ our wedding a few weekends ago and we have nothing but great things to say about him. He was recommended to us after a friend's wedding because they said they had a blast- now we have already recommended him to several of our guests. From the start, Michael was very responsive and by far the easiest vendor to work with. He made the day and the planning as stress-free for us as possible. He took care of the ceremony as well as the reception without any hitches, and was able to set up properly for our last-minute change of location due to rain. Before entering the ballroom, Michael even came over to us and congratulated/hugged us, which showed how friendly and personable he is. He even went beyond that and played some extra Beyonce songs after hearing how much the bride loves her through some speeches. Michael was our DJ at our wedding three weeks ago. He was AMAZING! Hiring him was truly one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding because he absolutely made the party. Prior to the wedding, Michael was so easy to talk to and he listened to everything that we wanted for our wedding. We met with him twice and he captured every detail of what we wanted. He also helped us brainstorm on songs to use throughout the night and made great suggestions. The day of our wedding, it rained cats and dogs, causing us to move our ceremony to an indoor location. This meant that Michael and Brett (his assistant for the night) had to set up in three locations instead of two - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception. They did this with no complaint and the entire flow of the night was completely seamless even with the separate locations. During the reception, Michael was amazing. He knows exactly how to keep the night on track without being too overbearing. He is definitely not one of those flashy DJs, but he kept the energy and flow going the whole night. It was perfect. I had several people comment to me during the reception that it was the best music that they had heard at a wedding - and the dancing hadn't even started! Once it was time for everyone to dance, our floor was packed the entire night. We had a great crowd and I knew people would dance but this was more than I expected. Even people who I know don't really like to dance were out on the dance floor the entire night. I have no doubt that this is very much due to the amazing songs Michael and Brett played the entire time. I really can't say enough about Michael! We first discovered DJ Michael when he DJ'd my sister-in-law's wedding in May 2009. He did a great job, played fun familiar music and did not MC the reception. When I say MC, I mean, aside from the basic announcements and such, Michael did not pull out a top hat and a cane and ask us to do the limbo. He didn't play silly games and and try to rap into the microphone. Bottom line, Michael didn't make the reception about him but, instead, about the bride and groom. My fiance (at the time) and noticed this and we were planning our own wedding during this time. We decided right away that this is the guy we wanted to play music at our reception. We want our guests to dance and have a great time, but not even notice there is a DJ there. Unfortunately, Michael was not available for us on our wedding date, but he did set us up with Dave Miller. Dave also does a Trivia Night at The Druid in Cambridge (just in case you want to look him up). We met him and explained what we were looking for and he was very attentive and respectful of our wishes. We gave a complete list of what we absolutely did NOT want to hear (and we are a little snobby about music) and he totally understood the kind of atmosphere we were trying to set for our reception. Dave did a great job at the reception-- everyone loved the music, which was mostly jazz, R&B and funk. In all the conversations leading up to the event, Michael was quick with answering questions we have and making sure he asked the right questions to be sure he could provide the best service he could. We provided a list of what music we wanted for each event and Michael took it from there. In fact, never once did I ever think "why did he play that?!" during the entire evening. He also asked us what songs we didn't want to hear at all and based off that list, he knew exactly what we were looking for and did an amazing job. We wanted a DJ who had good equipment, limited the off-script talk during the reception, and knew exactly what to play. I read all of his reviews and was convinced that he was our guy. We set up an appointment to meet with him and we were instantly sold. He understood our needs and nothing more and nothing less. Leading up to the wedding, he was easy to communicate via phone or email. And his fee was reasonable as well. On the day of, he arrived early to set up his equipment and greeted us. From the moment we were introduced at the reception to the final moments of the night, he was perfect. Michael played all of the songs we had requested and none of the songs we asked him not to play. He didn't speak unless he was announcing something. He provided us with just enough lights to make the dance floor amazing and fun for our guests. Michael was the DJ at our wedding in Cambridge, and my wife and I truly could not have been happier with him. We live on the west coast and planning the wedding from across the country was daunting, but Michael was super professional and easy to work with from the beginning. I knew we had made the right choice during my first call with him. He said he would not be on the microphone other than to introduce people, and he would not bring games or props; he promised to play amazing music, with a great lights system, and that's exactly what we got. Michael went out of his way to meet with us on short notice when we took a last minute trip to Boston a few months before the wedding. He was super relaxed throughout the entire process and it was honestly the least stressful part of planning the wedding. I don't have enough good things to say about Michael. Leading up to the wedding he was beyond accommodating and responsive on all lines of communication. We had multiple face-to-face meetings over the course of the year leading up the wedding and every time Michael brought fresh ideas to the table. When we initially reached out to Michael, he was highly responsive and gave us confidence that he was the right choice even though we had only spoken to him on the phone (we were planning from California). During the ceremony and reception he seamlessly handled every introduction and made us feel really comfortable and at ease the entire time. Afterwards, I realized how important this was since the reception can be quite overwhelming with worrying about if your guests are properly entertained. Excellent wedding DJ. Michael helped in all parts of the process. From planning to execution. He was not afraid to tell us his opinion (which is important due to his extensive experiences with weddings). We gave him some music tastes and musical no-nos. He took all our suggestions and created an excellent event. During the event he and his assistant (yes there are two of them which we found to be a great assets) helped manage the time line, kept people on the dance floor and created a fun wedding environment that felt like us. Michael is not your generic wedding DJ and I can't tell you how many of our guests not only raved about his team, but told me that the music was so "us". Coming from a person that wasn't sure a DJ was even needed in this day and age of itunes and laptops, it was the best money I spent on the wedding- and Michael's quotes are very fair. Michael was a joy to work with. I knew within five minutes of meeting him before signing a contract that he would be great. My husband and I had very particular music taste and Michael went out of his way to not only download the correct versions (of classical songs), but to also edit some songs to fade in and out at the precise moment. For example, as we walked down the aisle, we needed our songs to transition at one exact beat and he did it perfectly. Not only was Michael helpful before the wedding, but he was very responsive during the wedding. Like most weddings, the schedule ended up running a bit behind, and Michael worked closely with us throughout the day to make sure we were in the room for important parts of the reception and working with us to remove parts at the last second because of time (bouquet toss). I know this can be difficult because, as bride and groom, we were constantly being pulled all over the place for photos and to talk to people. The one thing we really wanted in a DJ was someone who could play sweet tunes but who wouldn't do any awkward advertising in the middle of the wedding. Michael did just that -- played great music that we requested and was very behind the scenes, emceeing when necessary. Finally, he quietly put copies of CDs with our wedding music into our stuff before leaving, which was a sweet touch. We now will have these lovely tunes to hear for the rest of our lives. Michael is, simply put, a fantastic DJ. We felt comfortable with him the moment we met him, and he and his team made our wedding amazing. We were very nervous about finding the right DJ for our wedding. We had been to too many other weddings where the DJ was obnoxious, was too "chatty," played corny songs, or otherwise did a poor job reflecting the personality of the bride and groom. When we first talked to Michael we expressed those concerns and he understood immediately what we were looking for. He promised not to talk much, not to tell anyone to "get this party started" and not to play any corny wedding songs (unless we specifically requested them!). He then told us his philosophy when it comes to DJ'ing. He said his goal of a DJ was to manage the mood of the night: to play a slow song when everyone is getting tired, to play a big hit to help bring a quiet room to life, and to make every last person get out of their seat to party. On the day of the wedding he was even better than we'd hoped. Our wedding was 80% people aged 25-32, and he knew just what songs would get everyone on the dance floor. Additionally, he was very responsive. When our Jewish friends requested the Horah, Michael sought us out to make sure that would be ok. He also mentioned that some people had requested country songs, but he would only play those if we approved. He definitely understood that we're not country music kind of folks. :) His best moment may have been following the raucous Horah with "Shout". It pretty much brought down the house, with the floor simply alive with people. It was those kind of inspired pairings, and the seamless flow between genres, that made the night so special. And he played everything, from Sam Cooke to Journey to Elvis to Cee-Lo or Katy Perry, and even Sir-Mix-a-Lot. He covered all the bases. A number of people told us how great a DJ he was. But the highest compliment came when I walked up behind two guests, only to overhear their conversation about how great a job he was doing.
