The casino itself is nice and very well kept, and the staff are normally great. Unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant today wasn't the best. They were doing gift card sweeps while I was eating, and I couldn't really hear the names being called. The announcements were very muffled in the restaurant. You can hear the names pretty clearly throughout the casino, but once you're sitting in the restaurant, it's really hard to tell what names are being called. I think it would be a great idea to have a screen in the restaurant showing the names as they're called. That way, people who are eating can still see if their name is being called without having to leave their table or constantly try to listen for the announcements. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Just something I think could make the experience better for people dining at the restaurant during the sweeps.

The bar was so slammed the entire time, they had only one bartender on. She had a whole bar full of people plus a never ending line of patrons waiting for drinks. It was awful. We also did a little gambling and were incredibly disappointed when our horse won the race only to find out the gentleman who gave us our ticket hit the wrong horses number. Gambled on horse #1, the ticket was for horse #2! So we lost all those winnings. The man did apologize but it was just so disappointing. In all it was fun to go watch the horses, but I was very surprised that the outdoor bar wasn't open. It was really a beautiful day and they lost out on lots of revenue from not properly staffing for the crowds. Lastly, we went into the casino to get some food only to find out there are very few options. Pizza, burgers or Dunkin. We ordered a pizza to take back to the grand stand and it was mediocre. Kind of a sad day and we will not be rushing back again.

I stopped in here recently, strictly to order dinner on a busy Friday night. I decided to sit up at the bar for prompt service. I was given a food menu, which offers pub fare including appetizers, wings, fried foods, pizzas, salads, burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, steak, fish & chips, and desserts. The bar offers a decent selection of beer (bottles and draft), cocktails, martinis, and margaritas. I quickly decided on the Award Winning Chicken Tender Plate ($14.99) which was a generous portion of 8 homemade breaded chicken tenders (smothered in BBQ sauce-my choice) and fries, served with dipping sauces (housemade). I tried out bleu cheese, ranch, and sweet hot chili sauce for dipping my tenders. The chicken tenders were very hot with a firm texture, juicy, and slightly chewy. Halfway through dinner, I decided to get a box for the tenders so I could order a dessert. The bartender suggested The Mt. Waffleton ($12.99-a toasted waffle sundae with vanilla ice cream, chocolate, caramel, and bananas foster sauces, sliced bananas), but instead went with the Apple Cider Donut Sticks ($7.99), fresh hand twisted (pizza) dough lightly fried and tossed in apple-spiced sugar, served with apple cider sauce. They also gave me a scoop of vanilla ice cream too! The donut sticks were served fresh and hot, but the fried dough sticks were very chewy to eat. This dessert definitely was very filling and a bit messy to eat. Overall, the food was solid good. The Chicken Tenders were very good and recommended! The service from the two bartenders was friendly and personable. The Donut Sticks took a while to come out since the place was very busy and the dessert was prepared fresh to order.

The event venue is a large ballroom with folding chairs set up as opposed to a stadium with built-in seats. I had issues with multiple machines recognizing my play credits and accepting tickets or money, and a bunch of the card readers either didn't work or wouldn't recognize my players card. Nothing quite like standing at a slot machine trying to convince it that you exist. The cashier situation wasn't much better. Maybe two of the ten windows were actually staffed, which naturally created a nice little line. The cash machines had lines too. Then there's the seating situation. The bar area and the space around the stage had plenty of chairs that were apparently reserved, except they were also completely empty. So there was seating. Technically. Just not for anyone who wanted to sit down. And the bar prices? Eight bucks for a Coors Light. At a casino. I understand you're not exactly shopping at Market Basket here, but come on. That beer better at least whisper winning lottery numbers into my ear for that price. It was loud, as expected. It didn't quite have the same desperate financial decisions being made under fluorescent lighting vibe as some of the casinos I've been to in Oklahoma, but let's not pretend this is Las Vegas either. It's Rhode Island casino Vegas. There's a difference. The hotel was actually the pleasant surprise. My room was comped and considerably better than I expected. Clean, comfortable bed, mini-fridge, spacious bathroom, and a really nice, powerful shower. Most importantly, my room was far enough away from the casino floor that I didn't have to spend the night listening to the rhythmic rumbling of slot machines. That alone deserves some credit. Staff throughout the property were friendly, and there are plenty of food options, including a 24/7 Dunkin', which is basically Rhode Island's version of emergency infrastructure. So I'm landing at two stars, although honestly 2 1/2 would be the more accurate rating. The hotel was better than expected and the staff were friendly, but too many machines and card readers weren't working, lines were unnecessarily long, seating was technically available but mysteriously off-limits, and the prices were doing their best impression of Las Vegas without actually providing the Las Vegas experience.

We already booked a room at a different location before we knew the MGM was there. We utilized our MGM cards (MGM really supports Veterans) for parking (did not have too as it was free-LOL). We parked, toured the casino, grabbed a sandwich and took advantage of the clean restrooms. We were at the Riverside park when it started sprinkling, so went back to parking garage. We found out they had a free party going upper level of garage with a cover band. We listened to the band, grabbed some food hot off the grill for a reasonable price and prepared to view the fireworks from the cover of the garage. Mother -Nature had other plans, weather turned nasty, band shut-down, and for safety we were moved to lower levels. We still saw the fireworks and exiting afterwards was not terrible. Not here! Springfield has a lot of Violence and drug activity and I am surprised that MGM built a casino there. They should have kept their brand at Foxwoods. Inside the casino the layout is pretty tight, slot machines are very close together. We didn't try any restaurants because we had just come from dinner. We didn't stay long - didn't like the vibe.
