When my Uncle Ned hired him for his second vow-renewal ceremony, Evan acted less as our DJ, and more of our spiritual music guru. My blood still races whenever I think of his most tasteful moments, from the staple Lady Marmalade during the garter removal, to packing a full 1988-1993 Michael Jackson block during dinner. I thought by the end he'd given us all he'd got, but then he came back strong with our Top 40, Mo-Town jamboree fest, and a killer total request hour (which consequently just became a Bon Jovi B-sides hour). Evan abstains from alcohol, which at first threw me off. But by the fourth time LMFAO came party rockin through his sick PA setup, I knew he didn't need it to have a killer time. Never before has a DJ changed my perspective on the every day tedium. Since that night in 2013 I've changed my clothes only once, and have mostly stopped barking like a wild animal when anxious. At first I was convinced it wasn't from the power of his music, but I quickly learned otherwise when I went to my cousin's wife's aunt's successful liver surgery party. I didn't really feel like going, but there was going to be a potato skins table, and I knew I couldn't miss it. I showed up at the Elks lodge, unsure of how the night was going to go, when all of a sudden something caught my attention from the back of the room. And there he was. In his dark shades, plaid shirt and windbreaker pants, silently bobbing his head to a beat only he could hear. The night went just as smoothly as Uncle Ned's did. Smooth transitions from early Chaka Khan and Whitney Houston, to leaser known greats like Rascal Flatt's and Diddy - Dirty Money. When Party Rock came back in all of its glory, I was so giddy with delight that I actually ended up breaking some of his gear with my signature arm-windmill move. He was gracious enough to cover the cost himself, and even gave me a kiss to make me feel better. DJ Healey is more than a DJ, he's a DJ Artist. An artisan of music that spins hit after hit until your fragile human heart can't take it anymore, leaving a hole only hiring him can fill. Which my extended family has done anywhere from 80-130 times.

My wife and I booked the band to play our Cape Cod wedding in 2017, and we saw folks we've never seen even tapping a foot to music get up on the dance floor and stay there all night. Every time I thought I might get off to grab a drink, hit the bathroom, whatever, I couldn't bring myself to do it. A 15-minute Scarlet/Fire had me grinning ear to ear, with nearly everyone in attendance on their feet for the entire time. This band knows how to jam, while hitting a classic tune for everyone in the process. Some of the absolute best photos we have from the entire night capture the pure joy on our family and friends' faces on the dance floor. My sister-and-brother-in-law saw what Loving Cup can do and couldn't make any other choice but to book them at their wedding the following summer. Again, nailed it. A 15-minute Hava Nagila blasted the entire tent to their feet, saw at least 4 people 10-feet high in the traditional chair dance (not my background, but what a blast to see and hear!), and rocked it harder than you can even put words to. My Dad works with John and that is how we were introduced to The Loving Cup. From the moment I first talked to Colleen on the phone, I got such incredible vibes and energy from her. She truly wanted our wedding to be perfect and was willing to be there for us in anyway we needed her. She was very organized and had documents ready for us to fill out to involve us in the choosing of the songs, the order of the announcements, and everything in between. We unfortunately had to experience a venue change which limited our guests. When that happened, instead of not using the band, Colleen suggested that her and her husband DJ so they could still be a part of it. I couldn't imagine our wedding without them. They really took over with the structure of the reception and they're incredible energy, beautiful music, and professionalism really added to our incredible day.
