The Shine Band - "The best band we ever heard at a wedding by far!" - Joni and Robert Sullivan

My husband and I had a wedding song which isn't really a frequent play, and John was more than willing to accommodate us and play our special song. It really made our night to have it as our wedding song! :) From start to finish, planning was an absolute breeze! John was extremely helpful in suggesting mother/son and father/daughter-in-law music. The mother/son pick turned out to be one of mom's favorite songs!! With only a few generic suggestions from us, the band played an amazing variety of music that suited us and every last guest. People we never expected to see dancing completely rocked the dance floor! I can honestly say that we left that night wondering what kind of party we can have next, just to have a reason to work with Shine Band again!! No DJ will ever compare to a live band, and Shine tops the charts!!! Thank you Shine for making our reception a night we will never forget!

All of our guests raved about how great they were. They play both traditional jazz music and a mix of some popular jazz & Latin hits (Frank Sinatra, etc). If you're looking for Sir Mixalot and some Rihanna, you'll have to look elsewhere because these guys have class! First off, Bob was incredibly great to work with. I probably only sent 2-3 emails and a couple phone calls at most about a year out, and a week before the wedding - just indicating what songs we wanted and to confirm some deposits and details. We are pretty much "roll with it" people and gave them the reigns on this one, they showed up and played exactly what we had hoped for. They had a flute and keyboard for our outdoor ceremony with lovely classical music and were perfectly on cue. They even took a lot of requests for songs from our guests during the reception (except for Portuguese music, haha! What did you expect, Auntie-in-law??). Our guests were certainly up and dancing all evening. Also, they didn't have a song in their repertoire (we chose a Chuck Berry song for our first dance) and they actually learned it for us! Lastly, the price was very exceptionally reasonable for the quality, their presentation and their talent. Why need a DJ when you can get such sophistication from live musicians? Highly, highly recommend for your wedding. Thanks, Bob Sabourin & Jazz in the Air!!

I'm an adult who has been taking piano lessons through Page Music Lessons for just over a year now…read more Learning a musical instrument was something that I had always wanted to do growing up, but never had the opportunity to. When I made the decision that I was going to begin, I did a lot of research on different studios and instructors before I landed on Page Music Lessons. They are located on Newbury St which was extremely convenient (right off of Hynes Convention Center T Stop), they have great hours (which is important for me as a working professional) and their staff has excellent reviews from past and current students (would recommend reading these on their website, as it helped me to determine which instructor I wanted to work with). When I began taking lessons, I shared with my instructor, Pierre, that I was completely new to musical instruments - I didn't even know the difference between notes. He was extremely patient with me and started at the basics. Since this time, I have grown so much in both my ability to play and my knowledge of musical theory. In addition to teaching me classical pieces, Pierre allows me to bring pieces that I'm interested in learning to lessons and helps me to break them down. Not only has this been fun (would 100% recommend learning Just a Friend by Biz Markie on piano and whipping it out at your next social gathering), but really helps me to understand the theory side of music and how it can be applied to all different genres and time periods. With COVID, I have had some life changes and moved from Boston to the west coast. The studio and Pierre have been extremely flexible and understanding, helping me to move my lessons to a date and time that work for my new schedule and time zone. I would (and have!) whole heartily recommend Page Music Lessons to any adult who is looking to learn a musical instrument.

Boston Circus Guild is not your usual circus; they offer up a whimsical story of mirth laced with mischief as they weave together scenes from our humdrum lives, but then give their own twist when housewives, bored businessmen, and even a shy girl in love transform into engaging, silly, and mesmerizing performers. "Honey I'm Home" brought us housewives in the midst of daily chores, brought to life by a mischievous clown and turned into bellydancers. "Writer's Block" followed a frustrated writer through her thought process, which took her into the air with gorgeous aerial acrobatics. "Passing Time at the Office" went from death-by-paperwork to crazy juggling antics and one very surprised boss. Of course, laced throughout the show was a brouhaha of Revelers, all lending their own manic joy to some of the acts (and helping with the seamless transition through the journey). Live music performed by Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching band brings the performances to life, and sets the tone of the circus perfectly. Spot-on timing brought another dimension to the performances. ENSMB is something to behold in their crazy, eclectic genius! "Reign of Revelry" is at the Somerville Armory next weekend as well, with shows on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 PM, with a family-friendly matinee on Saturday at 2 PM. Information is at www.bostoncircusguild.com. After enjoying such a cool show, I look forward to seeing more of Boston Circus Guild!

A colleague knew a few guild members and suggested I call. They were essential partners from the beginning, helping with venue selection and brainstorming ideas with us. Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band is brilliant. They even connected us with a great DJ. I'm kind of in love with everyone. My only sadness is that it all ended far too quickly. If you want to create an event that people will talk about for a long time, you can't do better.
