I was in a mood for a protein shake so I decided to stop in and give this place a shot big mistake. I ordered a chocolate peanut butter and banana shake and wasn't even asked what size. I go to the rest room and when I head to the front to pick my shake the employee hands me a super EX large cup. Not very pleased with the size but went about my way when drive away I took a sip of the shake the taste was so bad I had to throw it out. I've been coming to this location on and off for 3 years. Every time I come in I am never disappointed. The food is always cooked perfectly. I get the grilled chicken sandwich with everything on it with a side of brown rice and gravy, along with sweet potato fries and a Snapple zero to drink. Today I switched it up and skipped on the sweet potato fries and substituted the Snapple for a pineapple mango smoothie. One of the best smoothies I've ever had. The pineapple to mango ratio was perfectly balanced and I could not put my cup down!! 10/10 would definitely recommend. The chicken sandwich has to be ordered with extra signature sauce due to the fact that it tastes really great when everything starts to mix together with the tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. Absolutely perfection here. The service is always great when it comes to dining in and taking out. The only downside to this location is the tight seating area. But if you're looking for great food to keep you in shape like I do then I over look that all the time. I've eaten here recently and was not impressed at all, the place seems extremely cluttered and not very appealing. I got a chicken sandwich for 14.00 , the bread literally falls apart the minute you bite it I am guessing since it's low carb but this just made the chicken and lettuc and tomato to slide everywhere. The sandwich was boring, came with a cucumber salad which was nothing but cucumber and onion and some red wine vinegar. The front looks like a deli , grocery store and restaurant all at once. I didn't see anything dirty per se but the clutter def gives the vibe of it not being deep cleaned in a long time. REOPENED BUT YET TO GO BACK.... From what I understand, the owner wanted out and is in the process of selling to one of his former employees. Good idea but a really horrible decision to remained closed during the process. Restaurant bizz is all about continuity. Closing will have a huge negative affect on customer loyalty and traffic. I haven't been ordering from them as much as I used to, but of course today after a good work out, I needed a protein shake. I went in here and order my usual chocolate peanut butter shake, got in the car, and drove off. To much of my disappointment, as soon as I took a sip, I immediately regretted the decision... Firstly, the place looked closed. Almost all the lights were turned off or dimmed, with the exception of the lights in the kitchen and register area. There was no one in there eating, which was odd since every time I've been there, there's always been patrons. Secondly, only from ordering my protein shake, I knew I wasn't going to order ANYTHING else from that menu. For those who've tasted protein shakes at Muscle Grill before, I hope you can agree that it's nice and thick with just the right amount of protein added to it...well, today, mine was liquidy and watery with very little flavor. I mixed it a little bit grasping on to a little hope that it just wasn't mixed well...oddly enough, the more I mixed it, the thicker it got and the flavor just kept getting worse. There didn't seem to be any peanut butter or protein in the shake. It tasted like water with a dash of chocolate syrup... Lastly, Id like to hope that this new management improves on the way the staff makes protein shakes. I'm afraid to taste any of the food if they can't even make a protein shake correctly.. I just finished (well, not really) my lunch from MMG. I ordered the turkey taco salad... let's break this down: A: It's supposed to be healthy food. There were about 5 pieces of lettuce that I could find under the mass amount of crap piled on top. The lettuce was completely wilted from the amount of stuff on it... I wanted a salad. B: Ground turkey... really? Was that really ground turkey? It slightly resembled what I give my cat. I cook ground turkey a lot. That was not ground turkey. C: Calorie/Fat counting? There was so much salsa, cheese, sour cream, bean/mystery meat on top that there is NO way that was a low cal salad. When I ordered the salad, I had visions of lots of greens, pico de gallo, and some fresh sauteed ground turkey on top. That is def. not what I got. If healthy food means that it will just go right through your digestive system so you don't have to worry about gaining weight, then this is really healthy food. Now let me start by saying I'm not even sure what's going on with MMG because I went there yesterday and it was closed looking but it had a sign saying that it was being renovated and will be back soon/hiring workers as well, so I guess we will see. The few times I've ate at this MMG the staff was always friendly and helpful because I typically do not eat pure healthy foods as you can probably tell from my reviews. The food for this niche was very good and definitely did not feel like a fat bastard after I ate it at all. I've been to Muscle Maker Grill in Wayne, Oakland and Lodi. Some locations are more consistent than others. The food at Lodi wasn't cooked properly (over cooked). I know they're still new as a company, so there are growing pains. The main reason for the 1 star for me is the Togo packaging. Every time I've had an issue with the contents sliding around, leaking out. I wouldn't have written the review at all, but last time I got a food for a few people, the one container spilled. I'm quite surprised that food outlets still use foam given that it is bad for the environment and a cheap way to package Togo food. It's not an issue if I eat in, but if I take it Togo which is my main preference, I'd like a better more environmentally friendly package. It really ruins the experience and I'm starting to sour of mmg as a whole. The containers are foam and although the food is healthy, the packaging doesn't reflect health or quality. I hope they change the packaging and as the far as the food goes, maybe an investment in support teams need to put in place to gain more consistency, as I'd hate to see them fail. Please use quality Togo containers! I'm sure you won't go out of business with that move. read more

Called here to see if their shakes are plant based. Was hung up on... Called back and the person who picked up claimed he couldn't hear me. Finally reached genuine human contact and the person said he didn't even know what was in the product. Then after a long hold, he said there is eggs and milk in the shake (EW, WTF?) and stated both plant and animal based. Most confusing phone call ever and a simple NO would have sufficed. Anyone who doesn't know what is in their own product needs to re-evaluate how they are handling their business. So much for "healthy", right? By the way, (separate from the encounter with the Lodi MMG) the muscle maker website contains no list of ingredients. My go-to wrap at Muscle Maker is the European Wrap and I've been to a few different locations. This was my first time at the Lodi location and for some reason, their version of the wrap was super oily and extremely salty. This is the first time I've had anything from Muscle Maker that was so greasy. I can normally feel pretty good about a meal from MMG but this did not feel healthy at all. The place was also pretty dirty. During the time I was there, one of the employees was "mopping" the floor but it looked like he was just sloshing brown-colored soap and water around the floor. Not exactly a nice sight while you're eating. Don't think I'll be coming back here. The people were nice but that's about it. read more

Just found this place near my office, i don't know why I missed it for so long. The food is very health conscious; calories are listed for every dish, which makes it REALLY easy to plan a sensible meal. The food was MUCH better than i expected for being low fat and high protein. I've come to the realization that every single Muscle Maker Grill is completely different. Yes, they all have the same menu, but every single one tastes different for some reason. Like they can't get a set recipe and they can't get the cooks to make things identical. Kinda the whole idea of a chain, right? This MMG is hit or miss. I've had decent meals here and I've had just meh meals here. Turkey meatballs tasted a little off last time I got the Rocky Balboa wrap. I do like the concept that they're 'healthier' and post the calorie counts on the menus. Although the calorie counts on the menus are different than whats on the franchise website. Hmm... The pasta I had was pretty gross and I tossed it after a few bites. It was the teriyaki one or whatever and the whole wheat pasta was completely overcooked and everything was drenched in salt. I'll pass, thanks! The MMG in Oakland for some reason is still the best one by far, Jersey City one is actually worse than this one. read more

I have been to muscle maker grill 3 times now. My husband (the gym rat of our family) was completely drawn in by the healthy menu and "I flex for food" shirts. They have a really wide variety of foods on their menu and the nice thing about it is that they list the calories next to everything. Eater beware some of these calories are PER SERVING so don't be fooled when eating a huge wrap thinking you only consumed 250 Cals! To be honest, although I do love the thought of not wearing my meal on my thighs for the rest of the week, the food just doesn't cut it for me. The menu is pricey and most of the food that I have tried is too spicy for my taste. Today we ordered 2 drinks, a burger with a side of edamame and a chicken wrap and our bill was $27. To me that is way to much to spend on lunch for two people at a place like this. I ordered a cheeseburger minus the turkey bacon and "special sauce". My burger was cooked the way I like it, it was nice a moist. I found it interesting that my burger came with onions cooked into it. Great for me...not so good for people who hate onions as I found out the meat is mixed with onions for all burgers. The bun...to be frank...sucked. It was dry and crumbled apart, I took one bite and wasted the rest. It may have been low carb but still not worth the calories. My edamame was also very good. It came out warm and had just the right amount of sea salt. My favorite thing about this place is the people who work there. Everyone is very nice and accommodating. They all make sure to greet you, ask you how your food was and say good bye. Manners get them up to three stars even though the food, to me, is sub par. read more

This is the place where you go when you are real hungry and want to eat some tasty nutritious food. Mexicana rice-chicken entree and rocky balboa wrap are my favorite. Choc banana shake comes in a large cup, works perfectly for hungry man like me. Good service, clean, plenty parking space. After 1 yr...I take back my feedback of good service (service is always good when owner is around as he attends customer when he is at the restaurant). They need to improve and learn to attend customers. Its has happened few times that I would just stand there at register counter and nobody attends because they are busy preparing food (even when there were hardly 2 tables taken). Delivery takes long time (more than an hour even when within a mile). This started happening more often that they are out of items on menu for months and at times run out of chicken stock. Muscle Maker Grill is an excellent place to get healthy food that actually tastes good and isn't expensive. Their location is great, right on Essex by route 17, so it is easily accessed and has plenty of parking. The staff has always been friendly every time I've stopped in and the owner, Mike, always goes out of his way to make all the customers feel welcomed. He makes each customer's visit seem personal and not like they're just a number like some other places do. The food, as I mentioned before, tastes great and is prepared fresh when you order. Not only does the food make your taste buds happy, but the prices are wallet friendly as well. You can get a good healthy and filling meal for just a few dollars easily. My personal favorites are the Rocky Balboa Wrap and Arizona entree. The chicken nuggets are also a tasty treat (try the Teriyaki ones). All in all, I've been to quite a few different locations of Muscle Maker Grill and this is by far my favorite one. What really makes this place stand out is the staff, just an overly friendly group of people that always seem to be smiling. I highly recommend Muscle Maker Grill in Lodi. read more
