Chirashi Bowl (Assorted Sashimi over Rice)*
Jessica G.

Solid value for what you got. In this economy, able to get fresh sushi at this price felt like a steal. The place was pretty humble one, no complicated fancy ambiance yet cozy dining space. Everything made fresh to order at speedy service. We got their Chirashi Bowl, Ama Ebi Nigiri, and Seared Salmon Nigiri. The Chirashi Bowl was pretty rich featuring Yellowtail, Albacore, Tuna, Salmon, Ebi, Scallop, Tobiko, and Unagi; served on moist Japanese rice bed. The Salmon and Unagi were my top highlights with the first coming in chunky slices and so fresh while the latter was really flavorful. The nigiri was certainly worth adding to your order as they came in good size for the price and allowed you trying different stuffs!

My husband and I went to Musashi's on a Thursday night. We arrived at 8:20, and were told that in-restaurant dining had closed. We were a little confused given that Google gave the hours as open until 9, and the sign on the door showed 8:45 - this should be written somewhere to avoid future confusion. The online ordering window was still open, so we ordered chirashi bowls to go. The food was prepared quickly and we sipped on some lemon water outside while waiting in the plastic chairs lined up alongside the building. The food was decent, particularly for the price, but next time I would prefer to eat in-person given that the fish had warmed considerably during the drive home.

i was so excited to try this place, especially seeing all the reviews, but i left very disappointed. what ruined it for me was the rice for the chirashi bowl -- the sushi rice was SO light, it was literally just plain white rice lol. i've never had such a bland chirashi bowl before. and the california roll was more like a kimbap. the only thing i really liked was the seared salmon nigiri, so if i were to ever come back, i would only get that. the rest of my party also thought everything was just ok. the restaurant is pretty small (and does not have AC), so don't be surprised if there's a wait. the food comes out fast though.

Thought it was not bad at all, a little underwhelming, but food tasted good nonetheless. Service is nice, very calm inside nice for a casual lunch. The restaurant is a little small so the seats are pretty close, I could hear the conversation next to me, but it can't really be helped, just something I noticed. I thought the price was not too bad, especially for seattle, lunch plate was ~14 and chirashi bowl ~19 rounding up. Otherwise a cute spot and plenty of dessert shops nearby for a sweet treat after.

Musashi's chirashi bowl is legendary! Relative to other top notch places, its chirashi bowl is so reasonably priced, and the quality of the fish is soooo solid! Just take a look at the picture yall. As always, the salmon and hamachi were the favorites for me, but even the ahi was not bad at all (I feel like Seattle just doesn't have that great of quality when it comes to ahi). Note: seating is super limited at this location so take out might have to be the move. Definitely check em out!

Fresh nigiri and fish that'll make you coming back because it's so reasonably priced. Try their famous bowl and you will not be disappointed at the plethora and freshness this places brings. I'll keep coming back for this any day. Service is quick and the place is clean!

The space and their dish ware were all super cute. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty chill in there and got our food fairly quickly. We got the chirashi bowls that tasted very fresh and presented in a pretty bowl. I loved all the sashimi, and they gave us complimentary tea. The bowl isn't super filling if you are coming in hungry but it was good quality and a fair price.

Musashi's is a staple sushi spot with consistently good quality fish at super reasonable prices. But you get what you pay for! The nigiris have waaaay too much rice and the rice is not that great. But can't beat the fish quality for the price. Service is also good. You order and pay at the counter. The food came out super quick as well. Will continue coming here for sure. But took off a star because of the rice which is such a simple issue to fix.

I called in an order, which was captured incorrectly - I ordered seared salmon nigiri, in which I showed up and it was fresh salmon. I politely let the person at the front know that I had ordered seared. He talks to a lady in the back, who gives me a very expressive disgust look like it was my fault and tells me "it's too late". I let her know that I ordered seared salmon when I called, and that I wasn't changing the order last minute. She comes to the front and makes it a point to say "you're paying more now (assuming price change for searing)." Then goes back and half sears the salmon in the to go container (hardly seared at all) and give it back. I didn't want to make it a bigger deal there, so I just left with barely seared salmon. She was rude, dismissive, and appeared to blame me for their mistake. It's sad as I've been going there for years, but sadly, after being treated so poorly, I'll find sushi elsewhere.

Really great price for the quantity of fish! We ordered a hamachi collar, which luckily they had, as well as a chirashi bowl & ebi/hamachi rolls! They were all great dishes and definitely packed with fish--the chirashi bowl was definitely huge and the fish to rice ratio there was perfect. The rice is a little heavy for both the hamachi roll and shrimp/ebi nigiri, but it was fine! We were seated relatively quickly and enjoyed our meal with some tea. Great experience!

My husband and I visited Musashi's the last time we were in Seattle based on the rave reviews. Overall, we had a solid visit but I gotta say our nigiri looked nothing like many of the photos that looked beautiful and fresh. In addition, they were out of one of the orders of octopus nigiri, and asked us if it was okay after they already served it to us, which I felt forced us to say yes because we didn't want it wasted when they already made it. They should have asked first IMO, and we would have just omitted the item. The skewers were alright, not much to write home about. It was a decent stop for lunch, but based on the quality for lunch I'm not sure I'd return the next time I'm in the area - although it is very affordable IMO

Musashi's always been a great Seattle staple for sushi ever since I've grown up here. They've always had a great reputation for good value for what you get, and that's been maintained even when ownership changed. They've now got more locations but this Wallingford location has always been the original that you can count on. The chirashi bowl at $18 is a steal, giving you great portions at a cost lower than other sushi restaurants. I also had the California roll, which a larger and different than other places. Overall this is a great place to Seattle sushi.

Cute little restaurant with limited table seating. It was about 80 degrees outside the day we visited and we walked over to find the place did not have AC. It was very hot and the water they provided was also room temperature tea. The tea itself was good and we did separately ask for an ice water. Maybe because of all the heat, eating the raw fish didn't taste as great as it looked. The fish seemed to be fresh but was also room temp and the rice was the vinegar sushi rice but no other sauce which was fine. The eel, I could not eat because it was slimy and felt half cooked or old although it was the only thing cooked in the dish. The portion was good and they were picture perfect.

Their website says they are closed on Sunday and Monday. Is this accurate?

Are they currently open for dine in?

No, takeout only again.

What fish on the menu are wild caught?

How much is omakase?

They don't have Omakase. But what you can do is ordering Chirashi bowl without rice so it's basically just sashimi alone for $15.50

Is there a parking lot here?

Not at the restaurant itself. There is typically a good amount of street parking available in neighboring residential streets.

Is it the same one in East side?

They have a location in Factoria

And so we... * Took a $35 Lyft to zoom over and respect their time, which certainly contributed to the frustration but very much isn't where most of it derived from. We made it a few minutes before the time we said we'd be there. * The only reason this isn't one star is because we ordered skewers that were pretty decent. I do recommend those. * Make sure to have phone charge for the virtual menus The host was amazing!!! Incredible spirits for late night. The servers were pretty garbage! I say servers plural because dude and his lookalike double-teamed us and somehow both sucked. I say this as someone who's worked in the service industry for 3 years. The servers seemed actively dismayed & angry that we were at the restaurant (there were 2 bigger tables that ended up remaining before we left the place, mind you), which simply could've been easily mitigated by telling us at 8:50PM to come a different day if we wanted better service or something of the sort. After traveling far & wide for this freakin Okonamiyaki, with an offputting slight glare, the waiter told us that they didn't have it for the night. The rice was lukewarm. Nothing was mentioned about minced tuna on the menu so it looked like dog food in my bowl. I'm white... so what in the white people shit was in my bowl? Like...genuinely. I could make that 10x better at my house in half the time and I'm a fcking college student. Is seasoning no longer with us? Does anyone know what pepper or garlic are? Was astonished at how one can make a dish so terrible. I only ate it because I'm broke and can't afford other stuff. The dish looks as horrible as it tasted , and I made it look better than it was served to me I could go on. And lastly, the checks. Yknow, for guys that seemed so pissed for us being there, they were slow as hell with the checks. I'm kind af but a bitch when I'm fucked with (case in point here), so I really gave them my whole dentures, which was exponential in magnitude compared to what they gave us. Thank you Issian, for a terrible night. Citizens of the world, please don't waste your money here, I beg you.

For food, we got the spicy edamame and bento box A. Spicy edamame had good flavor, was a little over steamed maybe? And had a buttery flavor which I was not expecting. Bento boxes come with a miso soup and salad which were fine. The box itself had 6 pieces of sashimi, a California roll, assorted tempura, and chicken karaage. The sashimi was not bad overall. Good quality fish, pieces were uneven and a little funnily cut, but all good. The roll was fine as well, good proportions of filling and rice. The roll itself was a bit messy though and overloaded with masago. Tempura was fine, I like the variety. Chicken karaage was hot and pretty tender, but the pieces were huge, making it a bit harder to eat. I would've preferred some dipping sauce as well. Overall, a pretty middle place. I think the bento boxes are a great value, but I wasn't quite wowed or satisfied enough to want to visit again. Everything tasted fresh, and I was especially happy that the rolls weren't overloaded with rice. The negitoro roll was great I ordered a bunch of different nigiri, and every single one was great. Another big plus was how easy it was to get seated - I didn't have to wait at all, which is always nice for a good sushi spot. The space is super big, lots of tables, staff was warm. Overall, really solid sushi, good portions, and a very easy, enjoyable experience. Again I've been very spoiled but I would totally make this my go to spot over anywhere in else nearby!
