Whoa. I haven't found a gem like this in a while…read more Amidst a long drive what a delight to find an Indian food truck in this strange truck stop area in Virginia. All your basic northern Indian dishes are here both veg and meat. There is chicken curry, goat curry, several dals, aloo gobi etc. I had a solid dal and an oily and flavorful goat curry on the bone. Rice and naan are available. Note some dishes like the chicken curry and dals are ready to go but dishes like aloo gobi are made fresh and will take 15-20min. You can avoid the wait by calling ahead at 540-771-0011. You may ask how will I ever eat Indian food in the car? Well there are some picnic tables if you care to dine on site. Otherwise dal is a very good self contained choice. The world would be a better place if there was one of these spots at every truck stop in the USA. So pull off, order some food (get some gas while you wait) and come back for a refreshing feast. Nice people by the way!

It's inside the gas station at this location and they offer Indian food as well as American food like fried chicken and fish and burgers, etc. I did get an order of butter naan because I was nibblish and it was good. Service was friendly and efficient and the naan was ready pretty quickly. There are a couple of tables if you want to sit down and eat but it's really a take out spot inside the gas station mini mart. They were doing a pretty steady business with truckers that seemed quite familiar with their food. That should tell you a little something.

This place has no business being where it is. I'd put their food up against urban Indian places any…read moreday. Instead, it's not near anything and shares a building with a gas station. Service is table-side but you pay at the desk. Portions are large and most people end up taking a box home. I'd say for two people, get two dishes to share and a single appetizer, too. They will allow a lot of alterations to your dishes and are careful to meet your spice tolerance. Do not expect a lot of answers on what exactly this or that dish is; the wait staff know how to put the orders in but not the intricacies of what separates chicken tikka from chicken tikka masala. The space is small, but I have gone with my wife and with 12 people and had no problems getting seating. Do check the times they are open, because if it's within 30 minutes of closing they can probably only get your food for you to-go. Most people like the skewered meat or korma-type foods. I'd say an order of naan is NOT sufficient for two people, so order double or a mix of two types (they have over 6 to choose from). If you don't do meat, they have fish dishes. And if you are vegetarian you'll be fine, but probably not a lot for a vegan. They also have a fusion East Asian section at the back of the menu. I've tried it and like it, but I'd say it's a bit heavier than the rest of the menu. TL;DR - If you don't know what something is, use their wifi and google it. It's a simpler process than asking the waitress who will ask the cook who will explain it to her so she can remember half of it and explain it to you. Also, usually a good idea to pair one meat dish with one vegetarian if you are splitting with someone. Maybe try one thing new and one old trusted item (saag paneer).

A notable reason to do that would be that they offer dosas on Saturdays, but not to go (a thin crepe tends not to travel well). I got takeout, and despite ordering on their website they did not seem to be on top of that order when I arrived. It didn't matter to me, and I would suggest that seekers of food that has that home-cooked taste would be well advised not to be overly time-sensitive. I was offered a handful of pakodas while I waited to ensure that I had something fresh to eat despite taking most of my food to go. Attention was also paid to my dietary needs, as they asked me if adding a dairy-containing raita on the side to my otherwise vegan order was okay. Their menu is not huge, the portion size is not huge for the money, but the flavor was huge. From the curry leaves sauteed onto the little side of potatoes they gave me to the rich spice mix of dal to the flaky indulgence of the paratha on the side, the experience was dynamic. Their appetizers come in bulk, but I'll have no problem finding a use for the extra onion pakodas that I vacuum sealed. I probably tried half of the vegetarian things on their menu, but I left wondering when I'd find myself back this way again so I can try the other half.

Very very over-priced for the small portions you get. It took way longer than they said (45 mins…read morelonger than our original wait time). The owners seem pretty nice. I wish I could say more positive things but for our family, we wouldn't eat here again.
