You know that feeling when you walk into a business and it feels like home...where everyone is smiling no matter how busy it is, and where you're taken care of almost immediately? This place is exactly that, always. My niece was visiting from out of state and wanted a pair of Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses. The cool uncle that I am decided to take her here, figuring if anyone in the area could help me with this task of finding the perfect pair of sunglasses, I knew it would be Murrieta Optometry. Especially with their awesome selection. Holly, Sergey and Jessica jumped at the challenge and offered several to choose from. But, then we learned that my niece really-really loved polarized lenses. Actually, I don't blame her. Jessica asked us to hang on, stepped out and into the backroom (or magical storage vault) and came out with the most perfect pair. My niece LOVED them so much and had the hugest smile, And I became the coolest uncle ever thanks to the most wonderful and supportive staff I've every had the pleasure of doing business with. I have always enjoyed their customer service. However, they seem to always double booked my appointments and end up waiting more time than I should have. Dr. Kamena is very nice and for the most part everyone is extremely nice. I just do not enjoy the waiting. If you're ok waiting for more than 30+ minutes, they're perfect for you. If you are like me and think anything beyond 25 minutes is not reasonable, then find someone else. Furthermore, I used to see another optometry in SF and the selection of glasses was much greater. Their selection seems very limited in this office. read more

Okay so I'm giving them 4 stars because the doctors are very nice and helpful every time I come in. I've never had any issues and my whole family has been coming here for quite some time. However, the girls in the front are not very friendly and I'm not basing this off of just one visit. This has happened the past few times I have come in. I literally walk in, go to the desk, say hello and they just stare. I say I'm here for an appointment and they grab some papers for me to fill out, but no hello, how are you, nothing. There's no music playing so its actually pretty awkward and there were about 5 ladies behind the desk and I just can't believe not one of them actually greeted me. I felt like I was talking to myself almost. I don't want my review to hurt them because I think it's a great place but hopefully they read this and know the importance of a friendly greeting when you walk in. read more

The service and staff were very good. However, I would not recommend getting lenses through them. I had two existing pairs of frames refitted with new lenses, both of which had problems. One pair had to be sent back to whoever Murrieta Optometry contracts with to correct the prescription, and the second pair had a loose screw, resulting in a lense falling out, and loss of the screw. read more

I have been a patient of Murrieta Optometry for uhhhh to long than I want to admit, I think 26-27 years. Of course back then it was Dr. Marshall Kamena, since Dr. Scott was just a we lad in high school :). I love coming here, I know I can always get a good laugh in while I'm there. Dr. Scott even makes my kids feel welcome there and they get all excited when it's time for their check up. He makes my kids feel so welcome that they feel like they can play practical jokes on him. My husband who has this whole eye phobia thing doesn't even mind going there, mind you he will ONLY see Dr. Scott and no one else. All of the people in the office have great customer service and many have been there for a long time, so obviously Dr. Scott treats his employees well also. I recommend Murrieta Optometry to all of my friends. read more

Murrieta Optometry is a wonderful eye doctor's office with extremely friendly and accommodating staff. They have a great selection of frames including Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Coach, Dior, Kate Spade, etc. The eyeglass technician is always helpful and gives me her honest feedback so that I find frames that are perfect for my face shape and complexion. The doctor I use is Dr. Scott Kamena who could not be a more personable and capable doctor. He always asks how you are doing and remembers who you are and what is going on in your life. It really is nice to go there and feel welcomed, remembered and valued. The office is very clean, beautifully decorated and inviting. As far as his abilities go, he is top-notch and I hear the rest of the doctors there are as well. I have never asked a question he could not answer and he always does what he feels is right for me and my eyes. I highly recommend this optometrist. Even if you aren't looking for a doctor, their eye glass selection rivals solstice on a slightly smaller scale, so its worth checking out if you are looking for sunglasses or eyeglass frames. read more

I just started going to Murrieta Optometry and could not be happier. I got there a day before my appointment by mistake and it was not problem, they took me right in. Everyone was very friendly and Dr. Kamena was a kick. He insisted on dialating my pupils so he could see for himself over and above the eye mapping due to my diabetes. My previous Dr. never did that. My glasses were ready in about 10 days and fit great. read more

Well, it certainly took a while (until mid-August) to get my glasses, but I'm very happy with them in the end. A large portion of the delay was due to my prescription causing some distortion that resulted in us having to order and try out three different sets of lenses before the issue was resolved. The turnaround on the lenses is a bit slow since they are made by a third-party vendor. The staff was pleasant to deal with throughout the whole process and toward the end Dr. Scott got involved to resolve both the lens complications and the issues I had with the frame order and customer service I addressed in my original review. I was offered a refund for my time and trouble. read more

I have worn glasses since I was 3 years old (I am now 33) and this is the first time in my life that I have ever had such a great experience!! My husband, son, and I went in and immediately felt comfortable. We were greeted with a smile and all of our questions were answered without making us feel stupid for asking them. (Can you tell we have had bad experiences in the past..) Dr Gee was super nice, very personable, joked around with my husband and I like he had known us for years, and explained everything in detail about what was going on with my vision. I am very picky about my eye doctors. The doctor that my husband and I saw was great!! She was helpful, straightforward, and good at listening to my concerns. Everything that I look for in an eye doctor. Additionally the office staff was friendly. That being said the office operations themselves leave something to be desired. During the three visits to their office this year, I saw them repeatedly struggling with the software system. Which lead them to have multitudes of challenges in working with their patients. This part I found to be completely frustrating. Right now I would definitely go back but if I find that the problems are still present a year from now I may reconsider. read more

This place is Great! The first thing I noticed is that they have some amazing frames for glasses. I was impressed. They have stylish designs for every price range. I did not get to inspect the entire inventory because I was not in the waiting room long, but believe me after my appointment I stuck around to see all of their frames. Dr. Kamena has a lot of energy and he is really funny. He put me at ease as he conducted my eye exam. He recommended me a brand of contacts that I really enjoy. Hi My name is Cindy David. I visited Murietta Optometry the other day just to buy frames and lenses for my daughter and myself. ( I had already got a prescription at Kaiser). Danielle was my technician. She was so pleasant to work with. I came in rather late, close to their close time, and she went above and beyond what most service people give. It was late, she was probably tired, I would have been, but she still took the extra measure to give me excellent customer service. She suggested other frames for me even though I was going to use mine. She made sure that my daughter could see the other color choices even though her computer was not allowing her to access the info.( she went out of her way to go to another computer and find the info.) When I came in I was expecting to pay out of a special account called Bizx so I did not think they would take my insurance so I wasn't going to bother asking but she asked me if I had insurance and said they would bill them first using my benefits and then use BizX. She saved me ALOT of money by going out of her way to think to ask me about insurance. Murietta is lucky to have such a marvelous employee. Murietta, treat her well, hold onto her and don't let go. I've been a customer here twice. Once in 2009 and again this month. I would highly recommend Murrieta. On the basics, the facility is clean, well organized, modern, has friendly and responsive staff, sophisticated equipment, and a nice selection of frames. What I liked best was that Doctor Kemena was really responsive in helping me get the right prescription, which wasn't the "perfect" one. I didn't want my prescription to give me 20/20 vision because I am near sighted and when I take prescription the machine says is the best choice, then I can't read with my glasses on, which is a real hassle. So i wanted something that was good enough for long term vision but also allowed me to read things close up without removing my glasses. He worked with me to find just the right balance, which I greatly appreciated. And he had the right equipment to make doing this trade off and fine tuning possible. I bought several pair and they give 30% off after the first pair. read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I've gone to other places for years, and when I would go back and say that I still wasn't seeing clearly they would tell me "that's just how your eyes are". After I picked up my new glasses, I called and said that there was something wrong with the RX, because the vision in one eye was horrible. The amazing staff worked me in, and Dr. Kamena threw the test book at me to figure out what was going on, and it turns out that I have a progressive degenerative condition in one eye that will not allow me to see as well as I should with glasses. I've worn contacts in the past, and because I work on a computer all day had issues with dry itchy eyes. I now have contacts, see better than I have in forever most of the time, and drops that correct the dry itch computer eyes. Dr. K spends as much time with me as I need, makes sure I understand what's going on with my vision. I am so thankful that I finally found a place where someone cares about the patient, not just about the $$ coming in. read more

I was very pleased with Dr. Kamena and the service I received from the staff. The exam was very thorough and Dr. Kamena took the time to explain the results of all the tests. I ended up buying a set of glasses and having my old set fitted with new lenses. While I was there. I mentioned my previous dissatisfaction with sunglasses purchased elsewhere. Dr. Kamena explained that progressive lenses do not translate well into sunglasses due to a difference in curvature of the lens. He mentioned that Maui Jim had eliminated that issue by building the wrap around glass to accommodate the way the eye looks through a normal set of glasses. I had a pair of Maui Jims that I had not be able to wear for several years. I sent them in and they came back perfect. Transitional lenses don't work for driving because they are activated by UV rays which the car window prevents. The glasses were more expensive than a normal pair but you cannot beat the lens on a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. You have to try it to understand the difference. I got them in a progressive lens so now I can drive AND read at the pool. read more

I was not happy with my previous optometrist, and needed an eye exam, so I thought I would try someone new. Dr Kamena's office was conveniently located for me, so I went in and made an appointment. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the office, and the exceptionally friendly and professional staff. Finally, after years of struggling with glasses that did not fit properly, and being told that i was not a candidate for contact lenses, i left the office being able to see clearly!!Dr. Kamena was very friendly and answered all of my questions. I was fitted with contact lenses, and they were very comfortable. Inez was so patient with me while she had me practice taking them in and out. Finally, I was able to do it, and very excited that I was no longer living in a Monet world. I just cannot say enough good things about the office and staff. Sergei counseled me on my insurance, and because of him I was able to save a lot of money by keeping coverage that I thought I didnt need. My wait time was not long at all, and I understand that at times appointments run longer, but they were very accomodating. My overall experience was excellant. I would recommend Murrieta Optometry to everyone. I look forward to my next visit. read more
