Bless Yer Heart Sandwich with Mac-N-Cheeze
    Tess S.

All the feel and tastes of a southern bbq joint, none of the animal cruelty. Absolutely loved my meal here and would be a regular if I lived in Jax. The interior is a little rough, could use some tlc (broken door, saggy chairs, just... tired). The people were very kind and helpful even though they were short staffed the day I visited. Check em out!

Part of a reviving old neighborhood, now going hipster-cool, along with the whole residential area 'round here. Healthy and yummy!

I really love this place. I've been mostly vegetarian for 35 years, vegan at home, eggs on road, fish once in a while. I've been here six times or so. It's a bit rustic, located in a cool old storefront of a 50-60's strip. The veg chicken and burgers I've had were delicious and filling. The staff has been so nice. Prices moderate to cheap in today's world. Everybody come eat the all veg food and keep this wonderful quirky special place going!

One word- AMAZING! Omg I wish I lived closer to this place. It's so good. I was in Jacksonville for the day and decided to stop by Murray Hillbilly after seeing them on IG and boy am I so glad I did. The food was so good and the customer service was A1 ! I came with my non vegan friend and he said I might have convinced him to go vegan because of how good the food was. We ordered the 5 pc Buffalo Wingz , Chickun Fries, Muenster Cheeze Fries, Bless Yer Heart, Spicy Chickun Fry, and the Mac N' Cheeze. Only thing we weren't in love with was the Mac N' Cheeze but I know how hard it is to get Mac N' Cheeze to be spot on with vegan ingredients so I will still give it a 4/5. Everything else tho, so good. Seasoned to perfection. Great portions. I literally have nothing but good things to say about this place. It's also very cute inside. Has some games on the tables. Pins & stickers you can buy at the counter. I will be in Jacksonville again next month and I will definitely be back.

Burger so undercooked that it's cold. Grubhub 12/4/25

I really appreciate the refund I got for the burger I ordered thru Grubhub. But believe it or not I didn't aim for a refund, I was hoping for lunch. This was my first and last order from Murray Hillbilly. Photo is attached. I don't recommend eating from here. The fact that they sent this out is actually amazing.

From the outside, Murray Hillbilly doesn't look like much, but what it lacks in interior & exterior design, it absolutely makes up for in service, quality of the food, portion size, and customer service! We had fried pickles, a shrimp basket with chicken fries, Muenster fries, a whopper burger, and a Smoke Stacker burger. Everything was delicious!

I wanted to like it. I just didn't. The place looks dodgy, but if the food would have tasted good, that may have been overlooked. My slides were literally sticking to the floor too! There were 2 ladies working. One seemed a bit overbearing with the other worker. Like she was Queen Hillbilly. Anyway, I tried a biscuit from this place last year and thought I just ordered the wrong thing. The shrimp in this po'boy were tough and overcooked. The shrimp needed more seasoning too. The sandwich was more bread than anything. For $15, I definitely expected better. The fries were weird af. I'm not sure if they fried them twice in old grease or how they made potatoes dunked in grease so unappealing. There were small crunchy over cooked fries mixed in with limp undercooked fries. They did not seem to have any salt or seasoning on the fries either. I got my order to go, because the dark atmosphere was not my vibe. I'm glad this place is an option for those who enjoy it. It's just a no for me.

Bless Yer Heart Sandwich with fries ($14)

I have a sweet tooth and the Bless Your Heart burger with its sweet orange sauce was a perfect balance of tangy sweet and savory. Fries were just the right amount of crispiness, and all for a reasonable $14. The staff were so friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh in minutes. They even have vegan household and personal items for sale including laundry detergent, soaps, hair detanglers, shirts, and more. I'd definitely come back for their delicious sandwiches and warm atmosphere.

Upon entering I loved the ambiance. Customer service is great and delicious recommendations. The wings were good I recommend asking for extra sauce on the side for flavoring for the inside or use the dip. Mac n cheese was delicious and flavorful. Carmelized onions in the smokestack made my burger burst with flavor. Garlic Parmesan fries were so good. Definitely enjoyed everything!

Here with my bf. He is new to world of vegetarian and veganism. I just started 3 days ago. I loved the ability to have something hot, satisfying, and that tastes similarity to what I recognize in the world of meat. I tried the Bless yer heart chicken sandwich which I found to be delicious with a side of coleslaw. My bf got the Buffalo fried chickun sandwich, fries and wings. I preferred my sandwich better but he felt this was the best he had since he started this journey a little over a month ago. Service was quick. Behind the counter staff was helpful in explaining what everything was made off. The setting is cool and no-frills. They offer table games while you wait. I would definitely recommend to other vegetarians and vegans alike. I'm new here, and I really have no credibility to rate or compare it to. But my BF loves it, so this is for him.

I accidentally ate vegan food. Oops. I came here because of an open mic listing that hasn't been relevant for ages apparently but it was too late. The bus already dropped me off. With twenty bucks left to spend I just randomly picked the Smoke House burger off the menu since everything is vegan and I was immediately confused. All the stuff is soy based which is one of the most irritating things about vegan food - it's literally bad for you, not just unhealthy. But I subbed a Beyond Burger which is made from peas I guess. It was quite tasty, as was the Cowboy sauce on top - some BBQ mayo vegan concoction that was a little gritty in texture but tasty nonetheless. Honestly though if you don't want vegan stuff in your system, the fries are normal and bomb with whatever their fake garlic butter actually is. It seems like olive oil with spices. In any case that was awesome and decadent. Just get fries in other words. Vegan food may taste ok, and yes carnivore food can be junk food too, but the less laboratory created items in my body the better.

The MAC was absolutely loaded with cheese. I hate to say this but it had too much cheese in it. My wife only ate a few bites. The collard greens made up for it, seasoned very well. The chicken wings and chicken fingers were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they only serve wings or fingers that I could see on the menu. I suppose to cut down on cooking times. South Kitchen & Spirits in Nocatee manages to do both. Susan and I have now visited several times, and every meal reinforces why this restaurant earned a place on our "Favorite Tables Around Town" list. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and welcoming without trying too hard. It feels like the kind of neighborhood restaurant every community wishes they had nearby. The biggest standout for us continues to be their Chicken & Waffles, which earned our Culinary Duo "Best of the Best" award. I will fully admit that growing up in the Northeast, the idea of fried chicken and waffles sounded completely wrong to me for years. Susan still laughs about how long it took me to embrace it. But after having South Kitchen's version, I finally understood why people love this dish so much. The chicken is perfectly crispy and juicy, the waffles are fluffy and buttery, and together they create that addictive sweet and savory combination that defines great Southern comfort food. This visit introduced us to a few more surprises. The Fried Green Tomatoes completely exceeded expectations. Topped with pimento cheese, crispy bacon, and a lemon vinaigrette drizzle, they had the perfect balance of richness and brightness. Even as someone who normally avoids fried green tomatoes, I genuinely enjoyed these. The Fried Shrimp appetizer also impressed us because the shrimp were large and lightly battered instead of overly breaded. You could actually taste the shrimp, which unfortunately is becoming rare these days. Susan loved the Shrimp & Grits. The andouille sausage had a perfect smoky crispness, the shrimp were plentiful, and the sauce stayed creamy throughout the meal without separating. I ordered the Barney Burger and honestly did not expect it to become one of the more memorable burgers I have had this year. The hand pattied brisket blend burger comes layered with avocado, tomato, American and cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, grilled jalapeños, and chipotle aioli. Every bite delivered heat, richness, and flavor. The service was warm and friendly throughout the evening. Kyle took excellent care of us, and the positive energy from the staff really added to the overall experience. South Kitchen & Spirits is ideal for casual date nights, family dinners, happy hour gatherings, or anyone looking for elevated Southern comfort food in the Ponte Vedra Beach and Nocatee area. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you appreciate generous portions, creative comfort food, and genuinely friendly hospitality.
