Today my wife and I decided to dine at Blu Diner, and it was a very enjoyable experience. I ordered the turkey wings with dressing, mac and cheese, and a side of greens. My wife had the BBQ pig feet with rice and greens. All of the food was perfectly cooked and very well balanced in seasoning--not overly seasoned and not bland. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I would give the meal a 9 out of 10. Whoever was in the kitchen today clearly put a lot of care into the food. Our server, Daja M, was extremely professional and attentive. She responded to every question and request I had with courtesy and a positive attitude. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us promptly and made us feel welcome. While taking our order, she was polite and appreciative, thanking us and also greeting other customers who entered behind us. Her professionalism and friendly demeanor created a comfortable atmosphere for everyone dining there. The portion sizes were also well worth the price. Each plate was around $15, and the quality and quantity made it a great value. Additionally, the dining area was very clean. The food is off the chain good. So many different wonderful main dishes with perfect seasoning. Today I had the beef stew with green beans and Mac n cheese. We actually ordered 4 different sides to try and all were delicious. They give large portions so if you are with a friend you could share a meal if you could agree on what to order. The staff are so patient while you go thru the line trying to make decisions. I ordered turkey wings (additional wing not pictured) yellow rice, greens, Mac and cheese. Meatloaf, (additional piece of meatloaf), yellow rice, cabbage and corn. I also ordered a side of dressing. All items were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Mac and cheese stood out amongst all items. I was not a huge fan of the dressing. However, it was edible. Pineapple lemonade was on point! I arrived around 1 PM. Line was somewhat long. However, staff was accommodating and served rapidly with professionalism. The portion size for the entree was massive. I ordered the liver and it was very good. I would definitely recommend the liver and gravy. I got the cabbage as well. It was good not very seasoned. It was more sweet than savory but I enjoyed it. Macaroni and cheese was where I was disappointed. I love macaroni and cheese. I did not like this macaroni at all. It taste like sour cream and I know some people put sour cream in their macaroni, I don't like that. It also could have been baked longer for my liking. I thought the flavor of the oxtails were good, however they charge more than Soul Food bistro for a lot less. I leave the Bistro with big oxtails and some of the meat that has fallen off the bone.
