We had the opportunity to visit Murphys Pourhouse recently with friends. While I'm not a beer or cider drinker, I still enjoyed the food and vibe. Some of the people in our friend group enjoyed beer flights and others enjoyed ciders. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. We all shared a Brie appetizer with bacon jam. Yum! The service was wonderful. Another great find in Murphys for the whole family! Highlights include: - The outdoor space is huge and great. My kids ran around with a few other kids also dining there and we really enjoyed it even on a very cold night (there were some heaters but it was still cold!) - Tons of good beer options! - Good food including options my kids were excited about (bacon sandwiches!) - A nice, big restroom inside (nice when you have two kids with you!) - We didn't partake but it looked like they were having a fun night of trivia You order everything inside which works fine though somewhat discouraged us from going back in and reopening our tab for another beer. We came here after a field trip to the Calaveras Big Trees. There were a total of 10 adults and 8 kids. Every adult (except for myself) ordered something from here. None of our kids wanted the food they had here (not to mention the major lack of kid food other than a $7 PB&J on whole wheat). So the moms walked up to a pizza place to order a couple small pizzas and fries. The adults with beer saved a seat outdoors (they weren't busy at all) and we brought the kid-approved food back to sit and all eat together. One of the male workers came out and basically yelled that we cannot bring in outside food as it's a health code violation. Which it isn't because the food was clearly not homemade (so from another restaurant subject to the same health codes) AND we were eating outside...so not even close to where their food is prepared. Anyway, this caused the few adults that didn't have a beer to have to leave with the 8 kids (alcohol isn't allowed off the premises...which is an *actual* law) and had nowhere to sit with the kids to eat. Mind you, the place does not have any signage requesting no outside food and had we not bought a good chunk of stuff there already, I could see how they'd be upset. But like I said, 9 of the 10 adults in our group bought food or drink here...and essentially kicked half of our families out. We were actually going to order 2 more meals to go from this place for the family we had back home, but opted not to because of this. All of this is to say I would not consider this place kid or family friendly. And definitely don't stop here after a hike with a bunch of hungry kids, unless you're willing to shell out a ridiculous amount of money for a peanut butter jelly sandwich. read more

Given the location this is 5 stars. This is something you might expect in a much more populated area like the bay area. The fact that they have a ton of craft beer both on tap and in tall cans for reasonable prices (compared to the bay area) is amazing. There is a really nice outdoor area with different picnic table and seating areas, they also have cornhole. I like to dominate in corn hole and if I can do so against friends while sipping on a beer, even better. Tongue out squinted eye emoji. Give them a call if you want to know what they have on tap, but trust that there will be something you will like if you like craft beer. If not, you don't really have any other comparable options, so be grateful what is being offered and find something to enjoy. I had a few questions about a few of the beers and I got a EXPERT description and run down on the characteristics of the beers I asked about. It was exactly the type of information I was looking for to make an informed decision and more! All this is to say that there are some really knowledgeable people working there as well. If wine tasting is not your thing (my group was not into it, so I took them here instead) or if some people want to wine taste and others want to drink beer, then this is yours spot. Great little spot on main street. Stopped here since they allowed dogs. Picked up a wrap and beer and enjoyed the view. There are picnic benches spread out throughout the grounds. I since it was myself and the pup I offered up my extra space to two friends and had great conversation. The food was good and the beer hit the spot! Definitely recommend this spot! read more

Came for lunch yesterday right when they opened! Excellent gentleman at the counter taking our order, the sandwiches were extremely delicous with fresh fresh veggies on it! If you're on the way to Yosemite or even Mammoth Lakes, this is a MUST visit detour. It is in a beautiful section of the Sierras in a very small one street town. There is indoor and outdoor dining seating or casual seating. The staff are a friendly folk like you are in Main Street USA. The food is almost all made from scratch and it will have you questioning why you would ever eat out at a chain ever again. They also have a wide selection of fresh and imported beers available. I was helped by a server named Matt who was professional, helpful and friendly, and he even brought extra napkins because he could tell I was a messy eater! Murphy's Pourhouse makes some incredible sandwiches. That marbled rye is really good. After a long weekend in the Sierras with limited food options, coming to Murphys Pourhouse and its vast menu of tasty sandwiches was a treat. The huge outdoor area was a delight for both my kids and my dog. Very family friendly but with excellent food. I found myself going to Zillow wanting to look up homes in the area so we could be regulars here. Friendly folks, beautiful and spacious outdoor seating area, and well thought out and executed food and drink. We'll definitely return next time we're in charming Murphys. read more

We love this place! Murphys Pourhouse is located in a small town, and The beers, food, service and vibe is one of the best I've experienced. We actually had only come to try some of the sour beers the first time, but came back the next day to try their sandwiches since we liked the spot so much. They have quite a selection of beers and highly recommend their sandwiches if you're looking for a good bite. Large outdoor seating area that looks like it is split with the winery next door. The second time we came, it was Trivia Night and it was such a fun vibe. Everyone was just so friendly, if we didn't have to drive back to the place we were staying at, I would've wanted to stay longer. We would definitely be back if we're in the area again. This probably our favorite spot in Murphys...large outdoor area that is dog friendly..plenty of tables and occasional live music. I had the Alpine wrap and my husband had the build your own turkey sandwich. I typically like to eat only half my meal so that I can have leftovers for a following meal given today's higher food costs. But my wrap was so good I ate the whole thing...and it was pretty darn big! Also had the broccoli bacon salad (yum). So good I've been looking up recipes to try to make it at home. The pickle spears were delicious and because they did not have brewed ice tea, we ordered a couple of Hank's diet root beers. That root beer is delicious.
