Paul Murphy Bathroom remodeling review: Summary: 5 out of 5! I would highly recommend Paul Murphy Bathroom Remodeling and use him again without even calling another person. Price was very reasonable and quality incredible and detail oriented. Paul and his crew were courteous and the house was kept clean from beginning to end, and the bathroom itself was spot cleaned before they finished. Paul and his crew were incredible communicators throughout the project, keeping me up to date and staying on schedule, texting me their ETA and informing me if they would be even 30 minutes late. In short, I have NO complaints about Paul, his crew, the price, the work, the communication, the cleanliness, the quality... only raves! Detailed review: I had my bathroom remodeled by Paul and his crew of Joe, Vito and Oscar in March 2026. I wanted it gutted top to bottom, tub to studs to ceiling. Paul helped me select sizes and styles, and was available throughout the buying stage for phone consultations. Even while I was at the store shopping! The bathroom took 3 weeks to remodel and the work was so detailed oriented, I was never bothered by the time it took. As for cost, I met with several contractors and 1-week bathroom remodelers. Paul was similar or perhaps a bit cheaper, but when I see how much detail he put into the project, to complete this project in one week would have meant a lot of shortcuts or lack of attention to details. Paul and Joe spent the first week tearing everything down, smoothing, prepping, fixing any rot, installing the new tub, making sure the footprint lined up with what I envisioned, keeping me informed the whole time. Vito and Oscar came in on week two to lay the tile. Again, taking great care to do exacting work, informing me of their timetable and suggesting changes to my original plan. Large and hard to clean grout lines was a big concern of mine and the reason I was considering the one-piece bathrooms remodels. However, despite how nice the one-piece shower installs can look today, they always had a "hotel bathroom" look about them. In the end, the bathtub wall tiles and the wood-looking tiled floor looks so contemporary and have very narrow grout lines; I'm very pleased. A lack of smoothness in the ceiling and fit where the vents are situated in my bathroom have irked me for years. These are finally also fixed! On week three, it was mainly just Joe doing all the install and electrical work. He worked hard and carefully, and left NO scratches on any of the new pieces. Joe felt like part of the family while he was here (my dog sure liked him! She would hang out by the door while he was working and try to go inside if he left it open while working). Joe also meticulously painted the walls, molding and vanity, and repaired and repainted any dents that appeared on both sides of the wall. My bathroom ended up needing an extra day to add some late arriving pieces, and Paul and Joe have worked with my schedule to come back and finish, with no complaints or extra charges. I like the fact that Paul and his team do only bathrooms, and schedule the crew to do one phase of the job per week, so they know ins and outs and are not rushed, and they don't start ridiculously early in the morning! Paul suggested a number of changes to my design based on experience in bathrooms remodeling, making the project even nicer than I imagined. Paul did a complete update of our hallway bathroom last November, and we are so pleased with how it came out. The pricing was reasonable, and Paul worked with us to make good choices for our budget and style. He took care of everything except for buying the materials, and kept to the schedule we discussed and the estimate he gave us up front. We found Paul on next door and I am so glad that we did. We needed a tub to shower conversion done in the guest bathroom and got a couple of quotes from some people whose relatives were probably snake oil salesman. Paul on the other hand was straightforward, honest, and reasonable with regards to the quote. My husband is very handy and prefers to do the work himself to ensure quality control but Paul and everyone that works his jobs is amazing at what they do. Believe me. We have done our own plumbing, dry wall, demo work, concrete pouring, and tile installation. Everyone on this job site from the demo guy, the hot mop guy, the tile guys, and Paul were all consummate professionals. They were all very approachable and took time and care to do their job and to not cause any undue destruction of anything else at my house. Additionally, someone was working at my house every single day so that my tub shower conversion only took 1.5 weeks. Paul's website has a lot of great photos of the work he's done which is a good place to get ideas. And Paul himself has a lot of helpful information having done a lot of bathrooms over the years. For instance, when I asked his opinion on black floor tiles in the shower, he told me it will more readily show soap scum and hard water stains. That's valuable information. I used Murphy Construction for 2 bathrooms. After finishing te job they did not clean up or repair minor damage they caused to the hallways. Additionally the quality of the work is poor. In less than 18 months the grout was coming undone and I've had to do several minor repairs. Overall the attention to detail was lacking, the subcontractors were inexperienced and poorly supervised. If you are looking for quality work that will stand the test of time, continue your search. I am getting ready to do a kitchen remodel and would never consider reusing Murphy. read more

I contacted Murphy's via email to request an estimate to do a tub to shower conversion. I was contacted immediately by Paul the owner. I told him what I wanted done and he was able (and willing) to give me a "ballpark" figure as to how much the job would cost. We made an appointment for him to come by my home and do an actual estimate for me. He came by and he was pleasant and very professional and we reached an agreement. I asked him to come give me an estimate in person and I figured the estimate would be higher once he was here in person, but it wasn't. He comes unprepared to the job site, makes numerous calls while on my job site, does not sign his own contracts, jumps from tile, to electrical, to plumbing with the intent of getting incremental checks for work that he has not completed. I used Murphy's Construction last summer for (x2) bathroom & kitchen remodel. Seemed like a great guy at first and generally made me comfortable w/ the process in the beginning stages. Well, after we got into the meat of things, that all changed. His attention to detail and his mgmt of sub-contractors was horrible. Numerous things made me uneasy and instead of putting me at ease, he would become combative and hostile toward me. While the work turned out to be fair (nothing turned out too horrible), I had to really struggle to get him to finish things up. He was rarely at the job site and would always put the blame on his sub-contractors if something went wrong. The guy is wind up really tight and has very poor customer service skills. The ONLY good thing I can say is that he saved me money, however, I would have gladly spent my savings on a more expensive company to have had my stress & frustration reduced.
