What an amazing find. We drove up to Murphy for a day trip and we're looking for something dog friendly as we had our boxer, Knox with us. This was a perfect spot. The covered patio was fantastic, the food was amazing and the service wonderful! We had the calamari appetizer, quiche with she crab soup, BLT with sweet potato fries. All were fantastic. We also got the the apple cinnamon moonshine drink that was full of fall flavor and refreshing. If we are ever anywhere close again- I'd drive out of my way to go here!! What happened to the Chop House? This used to be our go to place for dinner; however, I'm not too sure if I would go back again after today's experience. We decided to have a late lunch; the place was not that busy. My wife ordered an Alfredo pasta dish; I ordered a rib eye steak. After placing the order, it took a LONG time to receive our food. Although the restaurant was not that busy, no bread was served or reason given for the long delay. The Alfredo looked good, but was modest portion. It had a hunk of Italian bread, but no butter or oil. The steak was loaded with fat and had little flavor. A side dish of broccoli was served, but it was overcooked and had yellowish color. VERY DISAPPOINTING MEAL. UPDATE (7/2024): Where's the beef?? Thought we'd give the Chop House another try. We went after the lunch rush and the young man who was our waiter was very nice. The table top, however, was very sticky and there was a distinct smell of mold in the air. Considering that the restaurant is called the Chop House you would think there would be steak, pork chops, or some other beef or pork offering. And now for the worst part: the men's room could rival an interstate truck stop for cleanliness. The smell of urine was so bad that you could smell it out in the front entry hall. RESERVATION CANCELED!! My wife made a reservation for Valentine's Day two weeks in advance. I listened to her makethe call. Late the next afternoon, she received a call asking us to move the time from 6:30pm to 7:00. No problem. We were happy to do it. What a horrible dining experience. My food was cold and I'd say tasteless except for the massive about of salt that must have been used in preparation. I got the stuffed white fish; worst piece of fish I've ever had, cold, hard and dry. Just gross. My husband got a steak (filet) .. it was also cold but did have some flavor. The sides were abysmal; the Mac/cheese looked like they just threw some pasta in a cheese liquid. Service was mediocre at best. By far one of the worst restaurant meals we've had in a long time. Ambiance: A quaint little find! We were a group of 9 and just walked by and decided to see if they would seat and serve us. They accommodated us right away. They are pet friendly with their outdoor seating area. We were traveling with an ESA and were seated indoors without any issues. Our waitress, Taylor, was very sweet and took our drink, starters and main entree orders all at one time as we knew more or less what we wanted off the bat. Starters came out quickly. Food took a little bit longer than we expected. The place was not very busy, there were maybe 3 or 4 other tables with couples. Then again, we are well aware we were an unexpected large group. Food: Everyone was overall happy with their food selections. - 2 people ordered fish and chips, these were not greasy or undercooked as some other reviewer seemed to mention. In Murphy once a week for a couple weeks for work and trying a new place here every time. Never got to try this place and never will. I arrived at around 6:15 PM on a Wednesday night. Just a regular weekday; nowhere near a holiday to use as an excuse. Not busy there at all. Rather than assume I could just take a seat, I respectfully asked the waitress outside if I could sit at the patio bar as there was plenty of room, and was met with an annoyed look and told to see the hostess inside "IF I wanted to see a menu." I went inside to see plenty of open tables and another inside bar with plenty of open seats. The hostess then tells me that there is a 20 minute wait, even for bar seating. I kindly said, "Thanks, I'm good," and left. Highly disappointing. This place must not need the business, and they'll certainly never be receiving mine. read more

The other thing was their award-winning prime rib was only a B+. It was super TOUGH to cut and had too much grissle (not fat for flavor, grissle.) We really wanted to like this place, the music and outdoor patio lured us in. It turns out those two things are why they even got 3 stars. The waitress, who had a mask on, took our drink order. As I'm off alcohol, I got a fun throw back drink, a Shirley Temple. When she brought it to me, the mask was on her chin and the drink was a watery Sprite with red food coloring for effect. Seriously disappointing- not even a cherry... I ordered the hamburger that promised to be a real treat. When it was placed in front of me my hubby was jealous and said that's what he should've gotten. It looked better than it tasted. I ordered medium. When cut in half I realized it was extremely well done and essentially a big gray dry lump of burger that needed to be washed down with my not so fancy drink. There was no seasoning in or on the burger- even the mushrooms were bland and chewy. $14 down the drain... My hubby ordered the French Dip. What a pathetic presentation. Very little meat on a bright white bun that was taken from a package and thrown on the plate. $16 down the drain... When our food was delivered the waitress wasn't even making an attempt to wear a mask, it wasn't even a thought anymore. This place was a total miss but I feel like it wouldn't take much to be really good. Folks at the table by us sent a plate back, the steak was not cooked to their liking. Cook the food as requested, use seasoning, and make sure that the presentation is good on all the plates. It's at least a start... On another note, our table was next to the bar. There was a man sitting there, facing our table, clipping his nails. Definitely gross and very tacky. I wonder, if anyone, should have said something? Me, who was in danger of nail clippings in my hair or on my plate, the bartender standing there or the waitress who was walking by? Unfortunate dining experience for our family of 5. We ordered a kids entree, 3 adult entrees and two appetizers (as one entree) our server was kind but seemed a bit in the weeds toward the middle of our experience. Food was a bit slow to come out. Most items (the flatbread, fish special, a steak entree) were warm but not hot by any means. The baked potato was limp, and seemed to be "nuked" One of the adults cut into their steak and immediately was turned off and we notified staff as quickly as possible but unfortunately we were not checked on very promptly. One of the entree items was a salad that did not come out with the rest of the food, nor minutes later, though when ordered (this was clearly requested) it took quite a while prompting our guest to just basically say hey let's just forget it (as it didn't arrive) our waiter did bring it after offering to take it off of the tab but it was incorrectly prepared though we did share some of it. The manager (female) did come over after we alerted them about the sub par steak entree and she offered her apologies as well as took it away, she also offered a complimentary dessert which we declined. The fish entree was also lukewarm and not very appetizing. When we received the bill only half of the returned entree (uneaten) was taken off the bill which we found to be disappointing seeing as this was not discussed or communicated by management (and should have been very clear from the time we advised them we would not be eating it. again, this meal was not eaten aside from cut into and sampled. We found the failure to communicate as a bit of an underhanded way to "deal" with our party of 5. Disappointing dining experience for sure. We would definitely be willing to give the place another try had it not been for the lacking communication, late delivery, and underhanded method of dealing with clientele read more

Plus the cleanliness of their patio is inexcusable. It is SO disgusting sitting and eating out there. I've lived here for almost ten years and today was the first time I tried Chophouse! I know, what took me so long? Quick review - pretty dang tasty and lunch prices aren't that bad. I think for a fancy restaurant though they need to step up their game a bit. Decor is showing some wear and the men's bathroom vent fan was screaming loud, sounded broke to me. But the food and service were on point. Very good food, suggestions by the waitress were right on and timely service. We really enjoyed both our dishes, bison burger and stuffed French toast. Sweet tea was good too. I'm guessing it probably won't take me a decade to get back and try the Chophouse again. read more

10/7/22 my wife and I are staying in Murphy so we decided to try the Chophouse out. We arrived around 5:00 and they were not busy The waitress was an absolute delight. The truffle fries were great along with my wife's soup and my salad. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and my wife ordered a filet medium rare. Service was fast ( not busy) however both steaks were raw. ( cow was still mooing) Not a big deal. Pointed the flaw out to the waitress and she was noticeably embarrassed and she immediate took them back. 10 min later they came out again my wife's filet was still raw however mine was fine. The waitress once again saw the steak was raw and apologized. The "chef" ( if you want to call him that) was then heard from the kitchen cussing towards us for sending it back. At this point we decided to leave ( still not mad and 100% not the waitresses fault). She even went out for the way to ask us to wait for the food and she was going to wrap it up to go ( was not necessary at all). The chef could then be heard yelling make sure they pay for ( explicative) the soup and salad and appetizer and there not going to get any of that food to go Became very awkward for the waitress who I will again say did a wonderful job. She was trying to correct his mistake but for lack of better words he was being a butt head. So we tipped the waitress and went Legends steak house and it was at least cooked correctly Not from here so I don't know if this incident was a fluke or what but beware. read more
