Great little restaurant. Nothing pretentious and very good value. Not licenced so bring your own wine or beer.

Lansdowne Court Hotel - Meringues, strawberries, fresh cream, white chocolate cookie

We were invited here for something to eat on the Sunday of the Belfast Marathon. We had to put it…read moreinto the sat nav as we aren't locals. We arrived about 5:30pm and the place was very busy. I think we got the last parking space and when we left about two hours later our space was taken so fast we had a hard time getting out as the folks were just bad mannered. We sat at a cramped table and the place was full of drinkers enjoying themselves. One waiter passed us several times with two pints on a tray as he couldn't locate the customers. After passing us a few times over several minutes he just gave up. The food menu was ok. I went for beans on toast small plate. This included a poached (fried) egg and this was what intrigued me. My food arrived (like the rest of the food (6 diners)) after far too long a wait and nobody bothered to drop by to say why it was so slow. We didn't see a lot of food going out as we waited. Service was friendly and the singers were terrible at singing and ok at playing instruments. We could hardly talk such was their volume and folks having to shout at each other to be heard. My Heinz baked beans came on toasted bread with no butter which would have helped immensely and not further seasoned and cool on a cold plate. The food was cooked/cold as I began to eat. The egg I really liked and it was poached sadly it too was cold and looked fried. The yolk was a bit runny and I did enjoy it but the meal ain't £8 worth. Absolutely no excuse for the food being cold. Others got chips with their burger mains all from a factory. This place doesn't need chefs just folks who can deep fry and assemble a plate. Teaching the importance of hot plates for hit food would be good. I wouldn't return for free it was pretty lousy. But what made it one star was the £8 dessert of Eton Mess. It had no strawberry or any other fruit like raspberry. It was a small bowl of whipped single cream with a small amount of cheap factory made meringue broken in and a red sugary cheap probably artificially coloured syrup meant to look strawberry. So no real strawberries were hurt in the making of this rubbish. I really loathe being ripped off and this do ye rightly culture which pervaded Northern Ireland for 50 years still persists. Never again. Avoid.

The rooms were very soundproof, and we appreciated the complimentary water and Taytos. The staff were incredibly welcoming. We had a great breakfast--my husband enjoyed the Irish breakfast, while I opted for the vegetarian option. The cappuccino was the best I've ever tasted! We also savored delicious cocktails at the bar. Rhonda, our server, was sweet and helpful, as were the two bartenders and the check-in staff. The smoked haddock for dinner was outstanding. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough; it's definitely a solid choice!

I think they may have had gin flights but we didnt see anything about that. They get their food from next door (burgers and tacos) which is fine and perfectly acceptable.

Since we had already had lunch we sat at the bar for a beer. We were greeted by a nice bartender. We told her we were looking for either a beer or cider. There are a few tables outside to enjoy the weather and a few tables inside. The bar area downstairs is small with quite a sizable collection of bras hanging from the ceiling. We ordered a Hilden Belfast Blonde and a Small Axe Session IPA. It wasn't super busy so talked to the bartender about travel. As another bartender walked in we also discussed beer and cocktails. He told us that flavored Gins were popular. He let us smell a few of the popular ones since we are not big gin drinkers. Decided to stop in the ladies room before leaving and found an interesting group of old photos while there. We didn't try any food but loved the beer and cocktail options and really enjoyed talking to both the bartenders. Stop by and check it out.

Barking Dog Restaurant - beef shin burger is definitely not your average burger

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.
