When we were in town as part of our honeymoon trek, my wife and I found a great little bistro in The Lantern, located in the heart of Belfast City Centre. This spot comprises an intimate setting with delicious dinner entree options. We started with glasses of Jawbox Gin and Ginger Ale, served with honeycomb inside, which was so satisfying and thirsty quenching. Specifically, I loved pouring the ginger ale into the glass and watching the honeycomb slowly disintegrate. My wife and I split several dishes for dinner with the Prawn, Ginger, and Spring Onion Risotto, the Glazed Pork Belly with potato croquettes, and the honey-glazed carrot & parsnips that had Irish cider raisins with a pancetta croquette potato. Every dish was fresh, delectable, and luscious. The prawns risotto was savory and full of goodness, while the pork belly was well prepared and heavenly. The pancetta croquette was very filling and tasty. For dessert, we split the lemon posset and creme brulee. Both were sweet and exquisite; a perfect way to end this feast at this lovely little spot by Belfast City Hall.

In these parts there's a saying , "Keep her lit" which roughly translates as it's in good shape don't change it!! I was in earlier this year and all staff were and still are top rate, the place has had a facelift and it looks fab. The place is well and truly lit!! The whole interior has been given a going over and I believe they are still waiting on a few bits and pieces. For starters I chose a gorgeous creamy king prawn risotto which I could easily have had a full bowl of!! For mains I chose: Glazed Pork belly with parsnips and raisins and potato crocquet. I must say the pork was cooked to perfection and I would have liked a drop of butter/cream in my sauce else a perfect meal. Congrats to the chef and front of house (Arun and Vijay) respectively. Tables are fast booking for dinner so get booking!!

Six of us came here for lunch. We were all very pleased with our meals, the service and the price. Sadly it was a work lunch and we couldn't partake in the byob. It was surprisingly quiet however and we created most of the atmosphere which was a shame. More people should be trying it for a lunchtime treat.

Great BYO restaurant in Belfast city centre, they do a good pre theatre menu and also do special steak nights throughout the week.

On our last day in Belfast, I said I need to experience dining in or have a drink at The Crown Bar…read more I was lucky enough to get a reservation at the dining room upstairs. The ground floor bar area was packed and busy! It was a good vibes. We sat and had dinner in a quiet setting upstairs. We enjoyed our food and drinks. My margarita was delicious. The lamb irish stew was yummy, finished it. It was a great experience!

During the time I visited, it wasn't very packed so I was seated swiftly. The kind staff accommodated my request to get a corner table. The vibe can be describe is a classic. I really enjoyed all the dark stained wood furniture - gave it such an "old Irish saloon" vibe...maybe because it is haha. I did not have much time to spend in Belfast, so I tried to taste as many traditional dishes as possible with being just one person. With that being said, I ordered a few of their notable dishes - Crown Bar Irish Stew, Steak & Ale Pie, and to finish it off, the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with both the custard and ice cream (really thankful the server offered to give me two toppings, and they were both delicious). All the dishes were great, and are definitely hearty. The stew as well as the pie filling had a rich roux - nice, thick and flavorful. I will say, the pie pastry was not as flaky as I would have liked it; kind of too thick. Overall, it was a great taste of Ireland
