When in Martha's Vineyard, anything Jaws themed is an automatic yes! They have Jaws donuts and they are too cute to not get. I visited Mad Martha's in Oak Bluffs around 8PM today (8/18) and asked to sample the black…read moreraspberry flavor before purchasing it since I had never tried it before. The employee refused. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal--except I had just watched several white customers on either side of me receive samples without any issue. They were treated kindly and allowed to sample flavors, while I was denied the exact same courtesy. As a Black customer, the stark difference in treatment was impossible for me to ignore. Based on what I personally witnessed, I felt singled out and treated differently because of my race. I don't make an accusation of racial bias lightly, but when customers immediately around me are being accommodated and I'm denied the same basic service, it's reasonable to question why. What makes this even more disturbing is that after my experience, I came across another review from a Black customer describing a remarkably similar experience at this same location involving samples and differential treatment. Seeing that after experiencing it myself was extremely concerning. Whatever the reason, customers should receive the same level of courtesy and service regardless of race. Absolutely unacceptable experience.

I got two scoops and it didn't really blow me away but it was still good, kind of reminding me of store-bought ice cream, which isn't necessarily bad. When I take a look at the photos that people are posting here, it makes me feel like I made the wrong choices because they look really good. I would definitely be willing to come back here and try some new flavors or options but it's really tough to compete here since there seems to be an ice cream shop on every corner around here. There's certainly a lot of competition but don't let this message discourage you from coming here.
