LOVE Murdick's Fudge! Not only is this a huge nostalgia connection for me (I grew up vacationing to the Vineyard as a kid) but it's also delicious! Don't listen to these other haters on here - this is FUDGE, I.e, CANDY... if you didn't want sweets don't go to a candy shop... *face palm* My personal favorites are peanut butter chocolate, penuche (caramel-flavor), maple walnut, and s'mores. But I've had others that are also tasty there, just depends on what you're in the mood for! All their chocolate flavors are more on the milk chocolate side vs dark chocolate - so if you're looking for something decadent this isn't really it. The staff are always very friendly and eager to give you deals if they have them. 5 stars for the fudge. 2 stars for the attitude of the person working there. I went here twice. The first time I went, I was simply curious to try their fudge. I bought 1 piece of fudge which cost around $12. PROTIP: I realized that the 3 slice box was a lot cheaper - $23 for 3 slices so I went back the next day to buy more. (The 3 slices box is $39.95 online but includes shipping.) In terms of flavors, the rocky road is amazing. You can literally see them making fudge there so you know its as fresh as can be. The cape cod cranberry flavor was ok. I also got the peanut butter which was excellent. If you like vanilla based fudge, they have plenty of that. They also have peanut brittle and popcorn! In terms of service, it differed greatly the both times I went there. The first time I went, the lady was super friendly and eager to help me. She explained the different flavors to me. The second time I went.. the lady was busy chatting on the phone. I am pretty sure it was a personal call. I waited for about 5 minutes before she finally got off the phone. I like to watch the Murdick Fudgemasters make the rich creamy velvety fudge by hand using an oak paddle-technique to mold a perfect 30-lb. slab on the marble table. Murdick has tasty fudge (truth be told, I am a bit of a fudge snob). The store was cute, the staff was friendly (or as friendly as they could be since it was 90 degrees outside and their shop doesn't have A/C). They were very generous with the samples. We had: the cheese popcorn - my girls loved chocolate peanut butter fudge - hubby enjoyed vanilla - tasty penuche - tasty but not the best I've had cranberry - not my cup of tea I would recommend Murdick's but they really need to put A/C in the shops. OMG. Here you go. The fudge is so good that, when the Fudge Dude spilled some off the Fudge Shaping Table, I told him forget the mop and that I'd lick it off the tiles. Go for the PENUCHE. I want to give Murdick's 5 stars... the Fudge is good and the place is iconic on the Vineyard. BUT for these prices, there should be more than 5 small pieces of pecan in a slice of chocolate pecan fudge. There should be more than 1 marshmallow and 2 small pieces of graham cracker in the S'mores Fudge. And for god's sake, there should be a little peanut butter across the whole slice of chocolate peanut butter fudge. For years I have been telling them they should put more of the stuff inside the fudge... but they don't. And it's really like plain chocolate fudge with a little bit of something... kind of a rip off. read more

You can get Murdick's Fudge at a few stores, either in Michigan or on Martha's Vineyard. I'm not sure how a Michigan fudge brand made it to MV, but I'm totally ok with it! Inside, you'll find the fudge shop and then a cafe. The cafe has limited seating, but good brownies and coffee options. In the shop, you'll find some samples on the counter, but they wouldn't let me try anything else. The weirdest part about this store was that no one was friendly at all. I visited on a Friday afternoon in late July, and I'm pretty sure I was the only one smiling in the entire store. The associates at the counter did not offer any help, or care to make any conversation. Regardless, the fudge does make a nice gift since it comes in a box and travels well. I probably would have bought more with some guidance, but I did the Yelp-recommended penuche and headed on my way. My visiting guests from off-island always like to stop in after they get their Black Dog t-shirts, Mad Martha's Ice Cream and Vineyard Vines ties, but I'm a Chilmark Chocolate kind of a gal, myself. I don't eat candy like this any more but when I did, I must admit that Murdick's makes good fudge. But I make good fudge, too. They sell small boxes that you can bring home to friends who have never been to the Vineyard, and they'll be happy. But Chilmark Chocolates does that, too. Just saying. We were in a mood to indulge and thinking how can you get it wrong with fudge in Edgartown? I give the shop 10 stars with its big beautiful thick Carrera marble tables where the fudge is poured onto by the bakers with a wonderful presentation. The employees are very friendly. They offer tastings. But this is where the 10 star rating ends. I was wondering why the aroma did not intoxicate with the smell of rich butter and why the fudge samples just tasted like, I don't know, maybe a thicken chocolate soft drink? So I asked the baker; "how much butter do you use in a batch?" Because I know that a fine fudge is made with tons of butter and natural sugar. Well he replied; "we don't use any butter and we make it with corn syrup?" And he said this in a proud sort of way as though it's a great recipe. Meanwhile my wife was at the counter getting ready to pay for a very expensive amount of this stuff for us and also to give out as gifts. I was able to stop the transaction in time. Murdick's Fudge is by far the best fudge I've ever had. I sampled the chocolate peanut butter, the penuche and the cranberry. They all stood out as being delicious, but the penuche was by far my favorite. I nibbled on these little treats for days after bringing them home. This will definitely be on the list of places to go when I venture back to Martha's Vineyard some day next Summer. Stopped in for an ice coffee at the cafe next door called Murdicks and wandered into the fudge shop. Delighted by the buttery smell of cashew brittle cooling on huge marble slabs in the shop. Couldn't resist making a purchase but they were out of the small bags of cashew brittle so settled for the peanut brittle instead. Staff was sweet and courteous and surprised me with a complimentary taste of the still warm cashew brittle large enough to share with my son! Excellent fudge! Such a cute kind of family owned business right next to a cafe of the same name. Loved the fudge, and definitely want to try the peanut brittle. My only complaint is the price. Maybe I went on a bad day, or maybe it's just a problem with this particular location, but the fudge I got (chocolate) was pretty poor, as were the samples I tried (cranberry and peanut butter). They were all very grainy and mushy (unfortunately, I didn't get the samples until AFTER we'd made our purchase). I wouldn't eat their fudge again even if someone gave it to me free.
