Great ice cream and quick service. We recommend phantomberry and s'mores flavors. Place is quaint and the staff was really friendly. We also bought candy because they had pretzel m&ms which are really hard to find.

my family loved this ice cream shop! they've got ice cream, candy, chocolate and plenty of souvenirs. we got the mint ice cream - it was delicious. there's a huge variety of flavors and toppings. portions are generous. only one con: cash only. service was efficient and servers were friendly. the shop is very small so it can sometime be hard to find where the line begins and ends. there's outdoor seating behind the shop with great views of chappaquiddick and the water. overall rating: 8/10

We were recommended to check out this ice cream shop by one of our waiters at dinner. He said that the ice cream is just as delightful, and that you get to eat it without the hour long wait that Mad Martha's had. This being my first night on the vineyard, I decided to take some local advice, and choose the road less taken. The Ice Cream & Candy Bazaar is super small inside, but a precious little building. It makes me wonder what this building used to be back in the day...because it's located right on the docks. There are shelves of candy in jars, where your sugar loving friends can make mixed bags out of their favorite novelties. On the other side of the store are the ice cream servers. The store has about 20 different ice creams, and they are more than happy to let you taste them. I tried the peppermint stick, as well as the chocolate peanut butter. Both were delightful, but the first choice won. The serving size was average, which my waistline will appreciate, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. $4.50 for a small ice cream, about $5.00 for a large. The building is small, a bit crowded, and doesn't really have a system of who orders, but everyone is pleasant because they are getting their sweetie :) Enjoy, avoid the lines, eat drink and be merry!

    Death by Chocolate flavor

Loved their death by chocolate flavor! It was any chocolate lovers dreams. Brownie bits, chocolate chunks and chocolate drizzle (oh my!). And a plus, at least for me, was that they actually did kiddie sized scoops. Every place we went to would serve huge scoops for a small. So it was nice to have a smaller portion that was easier to finish.

Best ice cream shop with the best flavors!

I love coming here. Friendly staff as best selection of ice cream flavors in Edgartown. Phantomberry and Maine Black Bear are my favorites. Highly recommend!

I love ice cream, and no flavor more than rum raisin. So when the shop owner suggested to me the frozen pudding, which sounded like some bizarre New England amalgamation of rum raisin and tutti-frutti, I was hesitant. I shouldn't have been--it was absolutely delicious. My fiancée had a black raspberry with chunks of brownie swirled into it that was just as good. Their chocolates looked amazing as well, but those will have to wait until a repeat visit.

Overpriced and terrible service! I should not be paying $5 for a minuscule "scoop" of ice cream!

We didn't realize there was an inside line and legitimately waited for like an hour and a half outside. We watched so many people come way after us and leave much before us. However, we were too committed to leave. The service was great and they had ample seating at picnic tables around. For us the ice cream wasn't worth the wait but it was still great ice cream. They definitely cater to all folks (dairy free options, vegan options, sherbet, sorbet, etc.) We both got mini splits which was a fun option and delicious but we are just as content at places with a much shorter wait. I would also recommend walking if possible because parking looked to be an absolute disaster. They even had people attempting to direct traffic and parking.

I now live on an island - and you bet that when I went off-island last week I requested that my dad stop here on the way home from Hyannis. My dad had to say yes; having worked in the ice cream industry in his youth, he knows a good cone when he sees one and Somerset Creamery tops his list as well. Embarrassingly, we got there 10 minutes before they opened. We camped in the parking lot. When it was time to go in, I already knew what I was getting. Chocolate mint ice cream in a waffle cone. First of all, it is the best ice cream flavor ever created. Chocolate and mint ice cream with Oreo cookie pieces. What else could you ask for?? And then their waffle cones and made fresh and they are oh so good. The service is always great, and they now take credit cards!! I cannot recommend this place enough. The only downside is that they do not have any dedicated seating, inside or outside. There are some planters of sorts that you can sit down on. Once I sat on one for three hours for a first date - can't say I recommend that. But if you want good ice cream, come here! (Yes, it is better than the Barn in my opinion).

OK, confirmed. This *IS* our favorite ice cream place in America. We literally planned our…read morenortheast trip itinerary to include The Ice Cream Barn in it, and we are so glad we did. This place is pure magic. We came the day after Thanksgiving, when it was freezing, around lunch, and we were not alone. We were excited to see more of their fall/winter flavors, and one of us went with their "Charles Dickens" (essentially like a fruit cake, but tastes so much better than it sounds!) and their pumpkin oreo, which wasn't her favorite but it was still very good. Love the Thanksgiving sprinkles option! (The only issue is that if the ice cream is really hard, and if it's really packed into the cup, then the sprinkles go everywhere.) Our daughter got the chocolate oreo brownie in one of their freshly-made waffle cones, and she shockingly ate almost the whole thing. SO good! There was also a banana peanut butter cup order along with peanut butter heath bar. What can we say other than what we said before?--everything is creeeeammmmmy and tastes so....clean and wonderful. It's the odd hallucination of feeling like the ice cream you're eating is healthy! We also want to shout out the staff who are beyond patient. We were those annoying people who sampled a few options (one of us even mid-ordering, so embarrassing!) and the young lady working was still friendly and hospitable. Does the ice cream make them so sweet or does this place just attract the best people? It's probably reciprocal! Anyway, we will always be sure to come back here anytime that we are in the area. You have to eat in your car in the winter months because it's too cold to be outside (no indoor seating), and we noticed that there were two cars next to us on either side with single drivers with out-of-state plates (like us) happily munching away on their goodies. That's how good this place is--five enthusiastic stars again!
