My son's co-worker raved about Four Seas Ice cream and declared it The Best on the Cape. We made a special trip on our way in for the weekend. Gotta say, our visit lived up to the hype. Unique, delicious flavors. I chose cantaloupe and ginger. Delicious! The cantaloupe was light and refreshing - I wasn't expecting to like it, but it was fabulous. The ginger had the perfect amount of spicy ginger flavor. My only regret is not getting my scoops in a waffle cone. Service was friendly and quick. Luckily for us, we came at a quieter mid-day time. Nothing compares to your pink mint chip hot fudge sundae until yesterday. Our group collectively noticed (a) a hint of ice/freeze flavor in the ice cream (like it thawed and refroze) and more telling (b) the chocolate chips we're now those standard types you get in a bag at the store vs previously nice chunks. Your sorbet continues to be my favorite on the Cape, or really anywhere. Last week I had ordered the Lemon Sorbet and ohmygosh it was good. So good. But I have to say, and I'm sure many others would agree, your prices have gone up considerably and your portions are a bit small... and inconsistent. Two of us ordered medium dishes of ice cream and they were definitely not the same size. How can this be? My favorite childhood ice cream shop still looks the same. For 30 years it was always good. But our last visit... The worker didn't exaclty know how to make a black and white soda.. so he asked. Fine. But I knew this wasn't a good sign. I've taken people here for so many years.. Everyone said they never had an b&w soda so good. Our ice cream sodas we left with we pretty much couldn't drink! Whatever liquid they used to make tasted like something terrible. The always delicious vanilla ice cream wasn't the same-- hardly any scoops given in the soda at all, but what there was was full of ice chunks, not creamy and no more that good vanilla flavor. The price for 3 was insane. I should have gone back to tell them but didn't have the heart. I hope they do see this though and get their act back together for next season. read more
