Excellent an delicious food! Owners are lovely couple who are polite and very welcoming. Cute and chill ambiance

We got the short ribs, chicken karaage, pork belly fried rice, meatballs, gyoza, and kimchi salad. The fried rice was my favorite dish, nothing else really stood out. I've heard good things about this spot so I'd give it another chance. Maybe dine in instead of takeout next time, although the atmosphere isn't very inviting.

Cute little spot we came across in magnolia! Coming back and bringing friends next time! We ordered the calamari salad and wanja for appetizers and the kimchi pork belly fried rice and bulgogi bibimbap for our entrees. We finished everything.

Bibim bowl, for the win! So delicious and such great texture with the crispy fried rice at the bottom of the hot plate. Add the special sauce and it's so yummy. Limited seating.

This is my first yelp review, hi yelp, and I'm glad it's a positive one. Great food for the price. $13 bimbim bowl +$2 bulgogi (and it's a lot more food than it looks!) also tried the gyoza - yum! Ambiance was right up my alley, hole-in-the-wall cozy vibe with random things scattered about because it's a small space. Had a "neighborhood spot" feel, I'm here for it! Service was nice, can't complain there (which I usually don't complain because I used to be in service)

A nice place for Korean/Japanese comfort food with nice service. Casual eatery with a handful of tables and seating at the bar. Roasted garlic calamari salad has fried calamari, avocado, carrots, cucumber, greens & a nice citrus dressing $12 4* Bibim Bowl excellent! Served in a hot iron skillet that keeps it warm while we ate. Like the veggie heavy ratio to rice. $11 (with $3 pork belly & $2 SP GOP-DOL option) 5* Spicy Soft Tofu Stew with mushroom comes with rice. More soup than stew. Mild but tasty. $12 4* Service so nice! Located -on Wheeler between 32nd Ave & 33rd Ave N (feels like a big alleyway) -1 block south of (right corner of) Magnolia Playfield & 1 block north of W McGraw St

    "Pancake" w/seafood option

Sometimes you just feel like a quiet neighborhood dinner. Came by for dinner on a weekend, small spot located in Magnolia area. Friendly greetings as we walked in, we sat in the booth and nice lady came by with water and menus. Simple menu with a good amount of items, we were hungry and off we went to order. We started with the "pancake" and added the seafood option (it's a Korean pancake). It was pretty good, nice and crisp, a little greasy as we all like it, ok amount of seafood, cut into 4's to share, size was pretty average, but overall it was tasty. As for our mains, we got the: "Bibim-Bowl" with bulgogi meat, it was pretty good, they do charge you extra for the meat choice and if you want it in the sizzlin' skillet, we opted for that. It was pretty good, came out sizzlin' as can be, mix it up, crisp rice on the bottom, tasty ingredients, add some of their gojujang sauce, you are good to go! Don't forget to scrape it! "Chicken Katsu", this too was pretty good. Pretty simple, good sized chicken cutlet and nicely breaded up, not greasy and quite crispy crunchy as we like our katsu. This entree comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup and a small side salad, pickled veg and a dipping sauce. Service was fine, it wasn't busy when we came by, prices aren't real expensive but definitely not cheap, it can add up depending on which meat options you choose with your entrees etc. Glad we came by, would come back again to this little gem in Magnolia. FYI: Let's not all go at once, because I hate waiting for a table, thank you! Sincerely, Willy

    Chicken Karaage

I happened to be in the Magnolia area, watching the sunset and was craving something hot to warm up my body. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd come back again but the food is seriously worth the try! Food 4/5: The sukiyaki beef and chicken karaage was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned and flavorful. The karaage was really juicy, which is just how I like it (some places have really dry karaage). The udon was really big and filled me up. The soup and udon itself tasted really good, my only complaint is that I don't think the shrimp tempura I added in was worth the $3, considering the fact that other added items into the udon were $2. There were only 2 shrimp tempuras and the shrimp wasn't very well coated Service 2/5: We walked in and got seated at a table that was not wiped down yet. We would have been more than willing to wait a couple minutes for them to clean the table and set it up. Then, they took 15 minutes to hand us menus to look at. As the night went on, it got slightly better and they would check in on us, so I gave them 2 stars for the improvement

    Gyoza
    Raye T.

Definitely more Korean than Japanese. Even the gyoza is non traditional. But don't get me wrong, everything was delicious and the service was wonderful.

Owners are extremely rude and have zero clue about customer service. Also, odd hours, smallish size portions and over-rated food.

Admittedly, we were a little confused when we arrived as there was a line out the front door. We stood waiting in it before realizing that we needed to put our name down on a clipboard for a table, and that most folks in line were waiting for take out orders. Better signage or different areas for seating vs take out would be helpful. Once we were seated after 15 minute wait though, we had a great experience. You order with a paper order card, so it was great to be able to visually confirm our orders. Nigiri was very reasonably priced, and we loved that it came in servings of two so that we could try a bunch of different things. We will be back!

It felt very much like they did not want us to be there, and did not want us to order. At no point did the staff check in to refill waters, or ask how anything was, or if we needed anything else. They missed items in our order, and it took too long to try and flag a server down to inform them, so by the time we finished other things, we didn't care to bother. When it was pointed out that they missed items and we'd like them taken off the check, the server, an older woman, became annoyed, and walked away from us mid-payment. Someone else came by to finish the payment process. Food was fine for the price point. Mid-range quality fish, and a few steps up from grocery store fish.

Our recent order of Market Tempura--advertised as 'Sweet Potato, Lotus Root, and Mushrooms'--consisted of an enormous serving of just lotus root served with a thimble-sized portion of Tsuyu broth. WTAF? The Tsukemono was equally perplexing and had me questioning the overall quality of the meal. I've attached a photo for reference. The cucumbers had a white/grayish growth on them, and the lotus root (as if I didn't get enough) and onion were overly raw. The onion was downright funky and inedible. Everything was cut very large. The unsettling assortment left me craving pickled plum and daikon. The edamame arrived steaming hot in a sealed container--a big no-no. Additionally, the miso soup was totally different than before. It lacked depth and gave off instant cup vibes; there was no wakame, and the tofu was sparse and not fresh. Please bring back the old recipe! The rolls were lovely, as usual. However, the sushi rice was noticeably more vinegary and slightly mushy. Perhaps it wasn't cooled down with care. I hope things get sorted out before summer gets into full swing. I'd love to see Tenzaru (cold Buckwheat noodles with dipping broth) on the menu. In case anyone is curious, Moshi Moshi offers a great version.

Have been in a few times and have had a solid experience each time. Fairly small place and not THAT many tables. You order at the counter and then sit down. I was the one saying "hello" first and saying "how are you?" before the cashier said anything. Kind of awkward/standoffish but not a dealbreaker when the food is good. Most recently I had the kimchi jigae, which was relatively spicy, even when I asked for less spicy (and they said they could accommodate). I'd say it was like 2-3 stars. Flavor was great though and it was a decent portion (for $17) and satisfying. Also, a pretty wide range of menu options, despite it being a small place. There were 4 complimentary banchan dishes (napa kimchi, cucumber kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, and fish cakes). Note that I don't think there are free refills like other places... maybe you can ask but I didn't see anyone doing so. For 1-2 people, it's a relatively generous amount. Also, only certain dishes come with the banchan, so be sure to read the menu carefully if you are wanting the banchan.
