Magolia is my neighborhood and, yet, I've walked by this place dozens of times before I finally recognized it was there (tucked away off the main drag). Tried three different menu items plus the gyoza and was pleasantly surprised that each entre had a unique flavor. The gyoza were great and overall found the food terrific. I'll be going back, for sure. ------ As for the people complaining about the owners Kay and Ted for being rude ... Seriously, shut up--Don't arrive 30 minutes before they close and expect that your eminence will convince them after a long day of serving customers to hang around to wait on your entitled asses for another couple hours. They work their butts off and have live's outside of the restaurant. Don't like their tone of voice? ... Coming from keyboard cowards who hide behind a YELP review to trash a restaurant. Great food, but bad value. The tiniest portions I've ever seen of yakisoba, bulgogi, and seaweed salad. LAUGHABLY small amount of chicken in the tiny dish of yakisoba that we paid extra to have chicken in. Maybe a good place to come if you're on a severe diet. If you live an active lifestyle, eat more than 1500 calories per day, et cetera... don't bother. You'll pay a fancy-dinner price tag for a glorified snack. Service was slow and unfriendly. read more

This has been, by far, the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. And probably the worst korean food I've ever had. We debated going in the first place, because we knew we'd be arriving within an hour of closing, but our friend insisted we still go. I wish I'd gone with my gut. We arrived promptly at 7, and the first thing that happened was a shrill voice telling us to leave. They had no room and were closing. Our friend came out of the bathroom & said we were with him, and the hostess/server just walked away, didn't say anything. It took about 10 minutes for the server to clean off a table to get us seated, even though it wasn't super hectic. Their tables were mostly full, but it seemed like it wasn't a frantic pace of activity. We got seated & got menus, and ordered drinks, appetizers & main dishes. The hot sake came out in a container so hot it burned my fingers and I couldn't pour. My husband has tougher hands, so he poured for us. My friend's cup had something floating in it. They brought the main dishes out and OMG, the tofu stew was flavorless. The tofu had more flavor than the broth. It was awful. I choked some of it down but was disgusted. I tried my husbands spicy pork & it was a sweet, gingery mess, neither were like actual Korean food. Full disclosure: husband's family is Korean. We never got our appetizers. We got our check & got out of there. I don't get the high ratings for this place at all. For people serving supposedly Korean food it was severely lacking & the greeting was extremely rude. Sometimes you just feel like a quiet neighborhood dinner. Came by for dinner on a weekend, small spot located in Magnolia area. Friendly greetings as we walked in, we sat in the booth and nice lady came by with water and menus. Simple menu with a good amount of items, we were hungry and off we went to order. We started with the "pancake" and added the seafood option (it's a Korean pancake). It was pretty good, nice and crisp, a little greasy as we all like it, ok amount of seafood, cut into 4's to share, size was pretty average, but overall it was tasty. As for our mains, we got the: "Bibim-Bowl" with bulgogi meat, it was pretty good, they do charge you extra for the meat choice and if you want it in the sizzlin' skillet, we opted for that. It was pretty good, came out sizzlin' as can be, mix it up, crisp rice on the bottom, tasty ingredients, add some of their gojujang sauce, you are good to go! Don't forget to scrape it! "Chicken Katsu", this too was pretty good. Pretty simple, good sized chicken cutlet and nicely breaded up, not greasy and quite crispy crunchy as we like our katsu. This entree comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup and a small side salad, pickled veg and a dipping sauce. Service was fine, it wasn't busy when we came by, prices aren't real expensive but definitely not cheap, it can add up depending on which meat options you choose with your entrees etc. Glad we came by, would come back again to this little gem in Magnolia. Upon a dusky eve, my kindred and I did seek repast at Mura Asian Eatery in Seattle's Magnolia, a haven of delights where the toil of foreign hands doth weave a feast--a stark rebuke to that swinish knave, Trump, whose heart doth fester with scorn for those who cross the seas. We did sup upon the bibim-bowl, salmon shio-yaki, and BBQ chicken, each morsel a testament to the grace of wanderers he'd fain banish with his churlish walls. The bibim-bowl, a bounteous mingle of rice and roots, spiced with sauces from afar, did mock the man's dull palate, he who'd rather starve the land of flavor than let a stranger's hand enrich it. The salmon shio-yaki, its flesh a tender ode to distant waters, was grilled with salt and skill--arts this boor would spurn, for he dreads the tide that bears such bounty, locking gates 'gainst fish and folk alike. And the BBQ chicken, smoky and succulent, did blaze with a fire born of craft, not the petty torches of his border-watch, raised to fright away the very souls who stoke our hearths. This Mura, a modest hall of mirth and meat, doth stand as proof that from the wide world's embrace cometh strength--its keepers, perchance of alien blood, serve joys that Trump, that walled-up wretch, could ne'er devise. I happened to be in the Magnolia area, watching the sunset and was craving something hot to warm up my body. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd come back again but the food is seriously worth the try! Food 4/5: The sukiyaki beef and chicken karaage was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned and flavorful. The karaage was really juicy, which is just how I like it (some places have really dry karaage). The udon was really big and filled me up. The soup and udon itself tasted really good, my only complaint is that I don't think the shrimp tempura I added in was worth the $3, considering the fact that other added items into the udon were $2. There were only 2 shrimp tempuras and the shrimp wasn't very well coated Service 2/5: We walked in and got seated at a table that was not wiped down yet. We would have been more than willing to wait a couple minutes for them to clean the table and set it up. Then, they took 15 minutes to hand us menus to look at. Tiny obscure place, but the kind of place regulars love, I guess. Everyone was having the stone pot bibimbap so we did the same. My yakiniku meat was tender and worked well in there, but apart from that, nothing really special. Price point looks good until you pay $2 extra for the stone pan and more $ for meat choice. No banchan no frills. Also had the calamari salad. That was fine, but also not that impressive. Overall, just ok for a Korean eatery that caters to a White affluent neighborhood. I really wanted to like and support this local small business but the food we had tonight was awful. I should have realized that when I was told it would be 20 mins from ordering for our pickup order to be ready that it's impossible to cook multiple dishes in that time. Every dish we ordered was extra greasy and reheated. The scallion pancake was definitely microwaved --- was so rubbery I couldn't cut it. The few dishes we ordered plus tip wasn't cheap, considering we basically couldn't eat it and regretted the small amount that we did. Will not order from here again. read more

Best Korean food I've had outside L.A. I'm simple, I like bibimbap and they knock it out of the park. Iron skillet like it's meant to be, and their Gochujang is delicious. Friendliest owners, we drive out from Bellueve to Magnolia just to get dinner. I went here the first week it opened and prior to a trip to LA my husband and I had not had Korean food. This place is in an alley and you do have to search for it. The interior is adorable and tidy. You are able to watch the chef cook everything and even sit at the bar. The food is spectacular and the owner's really could not be nicer people. read more

Stopped in here last night for dinner, Sunday. In which they close a little earlier on Sundays, 8 pm (so take note!). Since it was a little after 7 pm,. it wasn't too busy and we were seated quickly. There were a couple full tables, but emptied pretty quickly 10 min before closing, pretty sure we were the last 2 customers in the restaurant when we finished dinner. We ordered: - kimchi pancake - Spicy Pork Bibimbap Bowls (around $10/each) - Miso Soup I really enjoyed all the food we ordered! The kimchi pancake was nice and crispy and came with a sweet soy dipping sauce. It wasn't very spicy at all. The spicy pork bowls on the other hand were very spicy, but just the right amount! Serving size was on the smaller side for me for a bibimbap bowl, and I thought it needed a little more meat but besides that it was amazing! Great food and good service! Location wise, I find it a little odd it's down an alley way, reminds me of eateries in Europe and Asia lol. But I like the darker decor inside. Everyone working there is very nice and you can tell they have a great sense of humor. The wizard behind the bar cranks out delicious skillets of food, and the accompanying sauces are perfect compliments.
