This is the only one we took advantage of for this pleasure and boy are we glad we did. The other 3 wineries we went to where we prepaid for tasting, tried so hard to sell us wine or club membership, Wilson Winery did no such thing. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name who was serving wine. He was a treat. Knowledgeable about the wines, but not rote. Engaged in conversation about wine (my wife and I are pretty knowledgeable ourselves about wines as we have not only been going to wineries for almost 40 years, but we've also volunteered at a couple) He was lively, on point, and, dare I say, fun! We both love Zinfandel wine. It is my favorite. Since Wilson produces over 30 different, you'll definitely find one you like. We sure did; we ended up buying multiple bottles. We wanted glasses too, but they were out (Wilson Winery, if you're reading this and you got a new shipment of glasses in, hit me back and I'll order some). Quaint grounds that overlook a sea of vineyards. It was a wonderful experience.

I was happy that we were able to bring in a few little snacks of our own. Someone wineries do not allow that. Jen was our server and was quite hospitable- she allowed my friend and I to choose where we'd like to sit and thank goodness there's a big canopy because rain was threatening any moment. We ended up tasting about six wines, which I thought was impressive. Both of our favorites were the Brut bubbles and the Zinfandel from Russian River Valley. The views are spectacular from here. I've only been in the summer before, so we sat outside on the deck overlooking the property. The bathrooms are close by and quite clean. As there's been a lot of rain lately, the mile .4 drive up to the top of the wine tasting area was extremely muddy. However, I didn't realize how muddy until we sat down and noticed mud on our pants I suppose from getting out of my car. When I arrived home, I could not believe how much mud was on the side of my car, my tires & my wheel wells. Perhaps the owners could put some more gravel down? I do know that I wouldn't drive up this road in the future after it's been rainy. But all in all a delightful experience. In the past, I've used the hiking trails, which are really nice. However, you need to be a club member to do so and I was with someone who belonged to their wine club. As we've had rain on and off the last few days. I expected some mud but I will say the 1.4 mile drive to the top of the winery was extremely muddy. We didn't notice until we sat down that we had mud on our pants.

As someone who's been to Soda Rock before, I've never felt compelled to leave a review, but after my family and I stopped in yesterday, I knew I needed to talk about our positive experience. Heather was amazing! She was friendly, knowledgeable about the wine, answered our numerous questions, and I couldn't have asked for anything else. Heather was on top of it from the moment we arrived. She thinks of everything. Our group of four sat outside, and it was beautiful, and right away Heather brought us two carafes of water. Usually wineries bring us one and we almost immediately have to ask for a second. Well, that may seem simple, it really affected our experience right from the beginning, as we knew Heather cares about the people she is helping, thinks ahead, and executes her customer service perfectly. We had a great time tasting the wine and enjoyed the different varieties, but it was honestly Heather, who made yesterday's experience top-notch. Heather also let us know about some sales that were going on and worked with us to match us with the perfect wine to take home.

And while I loved all of the reds, this is the Hillside Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious. Incredibly rich and dense full bodied like a bowl of ripe blackberry jam, and blueberry, plum, old leather, espresso, with legendary eucalyptus or cedar box. Fantastic and worth every dollar!!

We feel like we've come to a friend's house instead of a business. That is in fact the vibe we felt! As soon as we walked in, Yogi the pup run up to us, wagging his tail happily like he recognized us. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They gave us time to settle in and offered extra blankets. We appreciated Rhonda who patiently explained about all the wines while pouring them for us. We ended up cuddling cozily on the couch in the corner, looking at the rain while sipping on wines ! May 6, 2025 - Cloverdale…read more This was our second visit to this winery, and it was just as lovely as our first visit. It's a family-owned winery, and very down to earth. Dog-friendly. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by Tilley, a rescued Aussie Cattle Dog. I LOVE that they list her as one of the team members on their website. There is a large tasting room, and an outdoor covered patio on a terrace overlooking the vineyard with amazing views. Once we chose where we wanted to sit, our host, Christy, gave us a complementary taste of rose'. The tasting fee is $20 per person, waived with a two-bottle purchase. The tasting menu is mostly reds, but started with a Viognier. We were then offered the chance to try any white that they had open. Such a relaxing and, really, a perfect wine tasting experience. Christy is friendly and knowledgeable. And then Jim Rickards (owner) came over and talked to us for a while. He is very personable, and had some wonderful stories. We shared conversation with him for quite a while. We enjoyed all the wines. We bought the rose' and the merlot. Prices range from $30-$39 for the whites, and from $35-$63 for the reds.
