We visited Papapietro Perry Winery over the weekend during Dry Creek Passport, and they absolutely nailed it. They leaned into a fun carnival theme with corn dogs, popcorn, and ice cream--such a great, laid-back twist that made the whole experience feel festive and different from the typical tasting setup. The spin-the-wheel game was a nice touch too. The wines were the real highlight. They had a strong lineup of new releases along with some excellent library wines open, which is always a treat and not something every winery offers. Ben and Yolanda are two of the nicest people in the industry--genuinely welcoming and easy to spend time with. We also had the chance to meet one of the growers they source Pinot from, which added another layer to the experience. Super down-to-earth, and everyone there was happy to talk wine and terroir as long as you wanted. Great people, great wines, and a really fun atmosphere. Definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to. read more

This visit was our second to pick up our wine since we joined their club last year. We definitely enjoy their Pinot noir's and our tasting experience was one of the best ever. We stopped in recently on a beautiful fall day to pick up our wine allocation and to take holiday photos. How sweet is it that they offer complimentary holiday photos for wine club members (complete with a backdrop of barrels and poinsettias, and table of fun holiday props for humans and pups)?! Holiday card, here we come! Every time we visit, the staff are beyond warm and welcoming. The winery is family owned and they make everyone feel like an extension of their family. Have a dog? This might be the most dog-friendly and dog-welcoming tasting room around! We've taken one of our pups with us to taste here on a previous visit, and he was gifted a travel water bowl and treats....and of course many pets. On this recent visit, we didn't stay for a tasting but we did open a bottle of the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir at home. All of their Pinot Noirs are different and all of them are nuanced, with a depth of flavors. The Russian River Valley Pinot is easy to drink, with or without food. So delicious! Came here on a rainy weekend trip to Healdsburg and was pleasantly surprised to catch their special holiday photo promo that they were doing! They are located in this interesting plaza of wine rooms and tastings instead of just directly on their own vineyard plot. Our tasting was definitely really fun and we got the charcuterie board which was a hit as well. Our sommelier had wonderful wonderful explanations of each wine (and we tried so many Pinot Noirs!) and it was really cool to hear the history and do a little vertical tasting as well to see the progression of the grapes through the years. Our friends took my husband and I here for a tasting, and I'm so glad we were invited! S E R V I C E: It was very welcoming, and seating was beautiful and open. Staff were all very kind and catered to our needs. Their marketing manager had his drone out and was offering photos to everyone which was a nice surprise! They are very dog friendly, and even have a "Bark Club." We had our puppy with us and they gave her plenty of treats! W I N E: We were greeted with their Chardonnay, tasted the Signature and Reserve wines. My favorites out of the Signature Tasting were their 2021 Campbell Ranch and 2021 Leras Family Vineyard. The notes of cherry and pomegranate showed through in Leras and so did the spicy/sweet combo in Campbell. From the Reserve Tasting, everything had a much bolder taste, especially since some of the bottles are from 2018 and 2019. We were also able to try their 2021 Pommard Clones and that was amazing! The Pinot Noirs are exceptional here! And if you've ever sipped on a Dry Creek Valley Pinot, then you know that there is absolutely nothing else like it. 'Tis the best of the best in Pinot land. I came here for a tasting with a friend and we had a really enjoyable time. Papapietro Perry is located off the beaten path amongst a small collective of other tasting rooms. I've tasted in Dry Creek Valley on numerous occasions but never noticed that there was a slew of tasting rooms located right off of Dry Creek Valley rd. Since my friend and I are both lovers of Pinot, we decided to check this spot out. First of all, the setting is so cute and cozy! Their patio area is extremely inviting and very comfortable. Everything is painted in warm tones with wooden accents which is very easy on the eyes. We were sat on the patio and had a gorgeous view of Dry Creek Valley. Ariana hosted us and she was so sweet and knowledgeable. She told us about the history of the winery and explained the intricacies of every single wine that we tasted. It was so interesting to learn that this winery was actually established in a garage in San Francisco by Ben Papapietro and Bruce Perry (hence the winery name Papapietro Perry). This is a family owned and operated winery and the family is involved in just about every aspect of the winery itself from the wine production to the operation of the tasting room. We actually got to meet Renae Perry (wife of Bruce Perry) and she was so bubbly, down to earth, and welcoming. We tasted 4 Pinot Noirs from their current tasting menu. Tastings are $25 and only waived for members. I actually enjoyed every single Pinot that I tried, but my absolute favorite was their Leras Family Vineyards varietal. This Pinot is produced in a Burgundian style which is my favorite style of Pinot to drink. It was lusciously fruity, earthy, and had a hint of minerality that neutralized and balanced the flavor. It's literally the best kind of sipping Pinot that can be enjoyed during any time of the year in any kind of weather. Ariana was also nice enough to let us sample their Pinot Noir Rosé and their Anderson Valley Pinot. The Rosé was incredible and super refreshing! Unfortunately, it was sold out so we were grateful that she let us taste what was left. The Anderson Valley Pinot was also delicious. Anderson Valley is another region where I adore tasting Pinots, and it was nice to taste a Mendocino wine in Dry Creek Valley. We also split a small cheese and charcuterie board which was very tasty. The only thing that I'd change is to allow the purchase of bottles to waive the tasting fee. The fee is only waived for their members, but if I'm buying wine, I feel like the tasting fee should be comped like most other wineries in this region. All in all, we really enjoyed our time tasting here. If you're looking for a place to enjoy some fabulous Pinot with a lovely view of Dry Creek Valkey, Papapietro Perry is a great place to do so. read more

They have a collection of wines from Sonoma coast, Russian river, dry creek valley (which is where this is located) and some other areas. They have two types of tasting and all the wines in the list are great. There is an outdoor patio seating, we didn't use it since we were there just for tasting, but it said it was members so guessing a member only area. But the view from that patio was amazing! On a rainy Saturday my girlfriend and I visited Papapietro as a random and spontaneous adventure just to get out of the house. Upon entering the winery we were greeted by some friendly front staff workers. The ambiance was very cozy and the tasting area was pleasantly laid out with the open portion overlooking the beautiful valley.Before even sitting down, it all of about 2 minutes before we were asked to fill out a form with our information so they could "put an order together". I understand that a wineries' main goal is to sell memberships, which is to be expected, however this felt a bit pre-mature and pushy. After being seated outside we were handed off to another nice gentleman who started us off with the first Pinot. The first round a young Pinot which was your typical California style wine. Big fruit, high alcohol, with a caramel coca-cola back-end seemed to be the theme for all the wines of our tasting. At this point, we weren't impressed, especially at $65+. After sensing our lack of interest in the wines the gentleman began pouring us different "surprises" to find something that we may enjoy. Unfortunately, with every surprise came more sugar, more alcohol, and more caramel. The Pinot Noir served here has far too much residual sugar and doesn't really embody the dryness that a real Pinot should have. At this point, my mind was made up, and like with most California wines, we were not interested. The gentleman still provided lots of information about the wine club, which was unnecessary and we ended up leaving shortly after. All in all, scenery is typical cute California style stuff, wine is mid 80 points at best and most definitely over priced (As most California wines are, this winery is not anomaly in that regard). If you're looking for a touristy type stop in Dry Creek, this would be the place. If you're looking for high quality wine, look elsewhere. You will be much happier with a $30 Burgundy which will encompass the true essence of what a Pinot Noir should be. read more

We visited Papapietro Perry on a recommendation from our Airbnb hostess. It was a good recommendation! The only wines available for tasting were the Pinot Noirs, but Pinot is their specialty and they were all so different from one another that it was a learning experience for us. We enjoyed experiencing the differences in vineyards and vintages. Our server was knowledgeable and businesslike--pushed the wine club a bit, but that has happened most places. Although we prefer more variety, we would recommend Papapietro Perry to all Pinot Noir lovers! The tasting fee is not waived upon purchase of bottles, unfortunately. As the owner points out in response to another review, some do and some don't. We did purchase two of our favorite bottles. read more

We finally had the opportunity to visit Papapietro Perry Winery after attending several of their virtual wine tasting & pairing events. We were warmly greeted in the tasting room and even though we didn't have reservations (on a very busy Saturday morning) they were able to accommodate us with a table out front. I love how dog friendly Papapietro is. We enjoyed their tasting and ordered a chartreuse board to add to our experience. Our child enjoyed the cheeses & dried fruit while coloring and saying hello to all the people and other dogs on the property. The property and view were all beautiful. Enjoyable atmosphere high on the hill overlooking the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley with outdoor sitting. The wine tasting was of Pinoirs, all 4 bottles were made by grapes from different vineyards. What a variety of yummy wines. We were told about the type, location and the note for each bottle. All of these wine are bottled in 2018. Took a Sunday afternoon drive with my fiancé to Papapietro Perry Winery for the first time and was impressed with everything. The location is easy to get to and has beautiful views, although they were partially covered by the smoke, they still looked nice. I had the pleasure of going on a Pinot journey with our amazing guide Shelly, she really made the experience that much better. We had a nice small cheese plate that was a 6/10 for me. Bambie & I love the Pinot Noir wines when the fruit is "up-front" and the texture is smooth and supple. PapaPietro-Perry makes Pinot Noir just like that. The big surprise is that the Zinfandel is made in the same style. The fruit has a distinctly fresh and light flavor. The alcohol content stays down below 13% which makes for a pleasant drink as well. Nice rustic tasting room. Wonderful people. Dog Friendly! Bottles prices are on the expensive side for this region compared to the local competition. We have been members here for a couple of years and love their Pinot Noir, even their Zinfandel! Wow! We decided to avoid the October harvest crowd, yet we had been here at that time and were always taken cared of with good wine. This time, January, we chose to do the wine cheese pairing, so all was quiet and due to the weather it was in their barrel room. Specific decisions on which cheese they would offer were made with local cheese experts so the pairings were delicious with gluten-free crackers for me. I just didn't connect with anything about this winery. Not the location, not the people working there, the people visiting like myself and most importantly not the wine. I was excited to give this place a try it had been on my list for awhile because of the great Yelp reviews so I happily made a reservation to go this past weekend when I visited the area. We started off with a rose and that was actually the ONLY wine I enjoyed of our tasting. In theory I like rose but it's so hard to find a good one I can't say I actually drink it often. This rose was perfect not sweet at all, but not too dry or on the bitter side either. The rest of the wines we tried were all pinots and in my opinion weak ones. I know pinots aren't typically full bodied wines but these all tasted watery to me I just didn't get any richness or depth in any of them which was disappointing. The other disappointing factor was our " charcuterie" plate, it felt more like a wine day lunchable then a charcuterie plate. It was inexpensive at $20 so I didn't feel jipped per say but it just reinforced to me that this is a place I don't need to come back to because it was so basic and like standard. How have I not written a review for this place yet!? I've been a wine club member here for almost 2 years and every shipment is a delight. They have a quaint little tasting room with a cozy little deck and are very dog friendly. It doesn't have the glamorous grounds like Twomey - but the wines are delicious especially if you are a fan of pinots. My first visit really left a great impression with my girlfriend and I as it spoke to all our geekiness. They have a map of the various regions they get grapes from and jars of the terroir. So while experiencing the pinots, seeing the differences in the terroir and understanding how the climates really influence the flavors of the wine really helped organize my understanding of pinots. They have always been super accommodating as well when I pick up my wines before the release party or many weeks later. All around a delight! I'm a member of several wine clubs and every few months I reassess who I want to stick with and which ones I want to move on from, but Papapietro always makes the list as a keeper. read more

The wines were very good. However, the winery does not waive the tasting fee when wine is purchased. All the wineries in the area waives the fee. I was going to buy 2-3 bottles of wine but was pressured to join the wine club to have the fee waived.
