Recently had both units replaced due to age and an abundance of caution concerning longevity and reliability. DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOME UNLESS THEY HAVE RENEWED THEIR LICENSE. MAKE SURE THEY PULL A PERMIT FOR ANY NEW INSTALL. HAVE NW NATURAL GAS CHECK THEIR WORK WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF INSTALL. If the work has been contracted via a home warranty request the home warranty company chose a different contractor. They installed a furnace two and a half years ago and we have recently learned they used they wrong pipe in the interior of the cabinet, the wrong size exhaust pipe to the vents and provided the wrong size filters. The furnace has never worked properly. It won't maintain set temperatures, which their tech told me was normal. It's not. The furnace has stopped working numerous times during the two winters we've had it. They never pulled the required permit for the install and their license is currently lapsed. They are not answering our calls or returning our messages. They take no pride or responsibility for their work, which is faulty. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! They are hiding like cowards and are a disgrace to the community that they serve, as well as to their industry. read more

Our 31 year old Air/Con condenser stopped working on a 100 degree July day. I called Multnomah and they came out later that same week. All the refrigerant had leaked out of our unit and it was toast. The tech gave us an estimate to replace it and we agreed. The installation date was nearly two weeks out, but few hours later someone from Multnomah called and said they could shuffle some maintenance customers around and do the install only eight days later. Great!! They kept us informed thru text and the tech arrived on time, was professional and nice. Our house is cool again and the price was in line with what other companies would have charged. I had a great experience with this company after being connected with them through our home warranty company. The dispatcher, Janelle, was straightforward and always responded kindly to my requests for an update on the ETA of our new AC unit (the warranty company is the one that actually supplied the equipment, so the delays were on that end). When the equipment arrived, Janelle got us scheduled right away. When Joe came to our home for the install, I asked if he could put the new unit over a bit further than the original unit's placement so that it wasn't right in front the dryer vent, which he was able to accommodate perfectly with the piping he had for the install. Not only am I super happy about not having dryer lint going straight into my AC unit, but my side yard feels way less cramped now! It's definitely that extra bit of customer service that motivates me to take the time to write a review. :) read more

We bought a cottage in MV and the ancient furnace and thermostat was wonky in that there was no off switch on the thermostat, and we had to go to the basement to turn the furnace on and off. Mult Heating came, ran a new wire, and had the new thermostat installed in 20 minutes. They were friendly and efficient! read more

Called three companies and decided to go with Multnomah Heating in Fairview. Joe the technician was clearly more knowledgeable, suggested what type of units I needed, and gave me ONE fair price....which was thousands less that the competitors. This is a small, family-owned business who take pride in servicing their customers and I was fortunate to find them. My gas furnace (attic) and Lennox AC was installed in four hours. Waited over two weeks for appointment to check A/C in my home. Their person (Jeremy) showed up without a mask. When I asked him if he was vaccinated, he said "no". I told him he needed to wear a mask and he said he didn't have one. So, I sent him away. When I contacted the office to tell them, they didn't seem to care. read more

Jeremy showed up to do a 22 point inspection for $150. he was here for 15 or 20 minutes told us the heat exchanger was cracked and he could not do the inspection, told us we needed to pay the $150 anyway, instead of charging us a lower diagnostic fee or working with us, which would have actually kept us working with them instead of going with another much more helpful company that has more integrity, where we purchased another furnace. They lost a lot of money on that. evidently service techs can be trained to immediately look for a cracked heat exchanger, in the hopes of generating the bigger bucks and assuming folks will look no further and buy the new furnace from them. foolish protocol. read more

I had a problem with my 27 year old furnace and didn't want to deal with it myself so Jeremy came out and got it to work. He suggested we get a new furnace because of the cost of installing a new control board. After fooling around with it off and on for about ten days, it finally went down for the count. I should have had Jeremy replace it 10 days ago! Called them and Joe said he would schedule me for the following day. They arrived a few minutes early the following morning and had it replaced within a couple of hours. Even with all my screwing around, I learned some things and still got a fair price for the installation. Called American Shield on Saturday. This company was here on Monday morning. I don't remember the guy's name who showed up, but he was professional and normal--fixed a clogged duct/pipe on the furnace in no time. Was in and out within 10-15 minutes. Kindly changed the dirty filter for me as a courtesy. Easy, breezy. No bullshit, no creepy vibes, no stupid sales pitch--perfect experience. read more

Terrible! Claimed he could not access the ac unit to check the freon due to a "special lock" the previous company put on it. Spent about 5 min running through the home. Got charged 75 service fee for a flat out lie. We had another company come out to put in the freon and they had no problem with the "special key". They said any ac guy would have one. I do not appreciate being lied to! read more

These guys are so nice! We had quite an ordeal with our unit and they were patient and worked with our home warranty insurance so well we saved a ton of money. The reason for the four stars versus five is that they had to come back a couple of times due to the issue not being resolved 100%. We have an old unit and instead of suggesting we replace it they worked with it to get it up and going again. Our first summer in WA and so thankful they were able to get it all fixed. These two events occurred in August 2016 within a couple weeks of each other. In both cases, we were forced to use Multnomah Heating (MH) by American Home Shield (AHS) as part of our Homeowner's Warranty Policy. EVENT #1 We had a condensation line leak into our closet due to the drain line not being routed to the exterior of the house. (The end of the pipe had receded into the wall because it had become detached from the line set of the AC due to age - 28 years old). The owner came out promptly and discovered the source of the leak. He secured the line outside the exterior wall, but left an ugly hole that I had to pay extra to repair. EVENT #2 A second leak occurred where the condensation drain line exited the overflow pan under the furnace/AC blower because the line had become clogged. That leak occurred because on the visit for EVENT #1, the owner did not inspect and blow out the entire line. He only re-routed it to the exterior of the house. Again, the MH Owner came out and said the line was clogged. He unclogged it, replaced a very small section of the PVC drain line, promptly collected the $60 Warranty deductible fee, and left. A couple days later, we had a major water leak through the ceiling in the hallway immediately below the furnace/AC drain pan. I called the owner and asked him if he inspected the drain pan, and he said it was fine. I asked him why the secondary drain line didn't work. He said he didn't know there was a secondary drain exiting the drain pan. That's because he, in fact, DID NOT INSPECT the drain pan. The secondary drain line was on the back side of the pan. I called AHS to report the damage. They contacted the MH Owner who told them that the pan was fine. So, not only did he mis-represent the truth to me, he mis-stated the facts to AHS as well. (I have photos of the ceiling damage and the pan that was removed/replaced by the same company that came in behind MH a year prior when MH said this same furnace was too old to repair and refused to work on it, but promptly collected their $60 and left ***see previous review***). AHS wanted MH to come fix the problem, but I refused to let anyone from this company do any further work and potential damage to my property. The MH Owner, Joseph R. Innocenti, would not stand behind his work and pay for the $1000+ damage they caused because of his shoddy, incomplete/incompetent workmanship. And neither would AHS, who forced me to use MH. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Multnomah Heating and will NEVER use them again. P.S. The same vote of NO CONFIDENCE goes for American Home Shield. read more

They cancelled a home warranty project on me as I stated over and over to the dispatch person that I could not be home the next available day. This was after the day prior I drove 2hrs to be home only to be told they couldn't assist me with my issue that day so I would need to re-schedule. I asked if they could just stop by and do the outside service to the Air conditioner when we were not home and we would call them to verify inside was working. At this point, the dispatch was abrupt and said since I was not willing to work with them and was expressing my frustration they would not take my call. The best part is I suspect it is the same part they replaced nine months prior that would still be under parts warranty. I agree with some of these other reviews below, this company is taking advantage of the system and now is not handling what may be there warranty issue. The dispatch person literally hung up on my very unprofessionally. If you have a choice, take your business elsewhere. read more
