So I was really in the mood for some Usagi Yojimbo. I was doing some research on trades I might want. Research for me is putting it in my Amazon cart and then hoping I can find it locally. That was Friday night and the plan was to go out to find it Sunday. I just was like there has to be something closer. I started doing some research. There goes that word again. This time it meant googling and reading reviews. That lead me to this place. I read some cool stuff about the owner. He's an illustrator and makes all his own sticker/shirt designs that you can't get anywhere else. So Sunday rolled around and I went over there. Loved the set up. Nice little oldie but goodie section. Cool collectibles and some great rarities. Guy at the front desk was awesome. I spent a while in there bullshitting. He made some pretty good suggestions. I totaled it up and I could walked out of there spending $300 were I to have gotten everything I wanted in there. Luckily I did not. However I will be back. The collectable Batman '89 figure was there. I'd never seen it in person. Also it's cheaper than it is on the internet. That doesn't normally happen. I'm not into it but there was talk with another customer of board game or D&D nights in the near future. So you should check this place out. It's not huge but it has some cool stuff.

Please enjoy a monster packed sandwich at 7's Deli next door if you come here. On to the review of the comic shop...This place has a lot going for it, graphic novels rack with 30% off, tee-shirts, wall comic books (expensive sought after comic books that are fun to look at on the wall) and what appears to be a large back issue stock. I was killing some time and only bought a comic book oversized sleeve with a backing to protect the first appearance of Shadow Moon Premiere issue 23. I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place!

I've been going here for weeks and not once has it been organized or not in complete disarray. The owner is nice , I believe his name is Mike, but the other store employee is just unpleasant. I asked for change once and asked if I had anything smaller, which thankfully I did that day. But the second time I had a 50 and asked hey do you have change for this? (I was buying $35 worth of things) and instead of saying, sorry I don't have any change. he got incredibly angry with me and said I will not be giving you change at the start of the day and that I "tried to do this last time" I wasn't rude either time to provoke him, I was just trying to pay cash since it's the nice thing to do for a small business. I will from now on be trying my best to never go here again, I recommend you do the same. There is a store 7 minutes from here that is much cleaner, nicer, and has a larger selection to choose from. Just knock, Tom keeps the door locked for obvious reasons--he's a cash only business, and he's got a massive amount of various collectibles. We came here looking for comic books for ourselves and for a friend. Tom was immensely helpful and we left with various volumes and a cute tote bag we can bring the next time we come shopping. The store is immaculately organized so despite having a lot of stuff, the environment doesn't feel overwhelming. If you love comic books or knows someone who does, come here to buy your stuff, Tom is a wealth of knowledge and will point you in the right direction!

The service was wonderful, and I found a book I couldn't resist taking home with me. Since their books are a third of the original retail price of the book, you can find some great deals while also supporting the Chestnut Hill Library when you shop at Hilltop! Definitely stop by if you're in the area and love a bookstore!
