Ok, ok. I may be biased in my 5-star rating because I work at The Andalusia Bookman shop, but trust…read moreme, I'm not. I simply love great rare books, collections of ephemera, and places that make you feel at home -- you get all this and more, here. Walk-ins aren't welcome just yet, so please call for an appointment, but once you visit it may become a routine like it has for so many others.. At the shop you'll find: over 60,000 items, specializing in 19th and 18th c. illustrated books, chromolithos, Philadelphiana, rare anthropology, early hermeneutics, Natural history, first editions, signed items, Beat lit, '60's material, unusual occult, erotica and esoterica. We have a vast collection of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records. And much more, just ask. Dave has been in business for twenty-five years in the incarnations of David L. Miller Rare Books, The Book Merchants, the Philadelphia's Riverside Book Fair and 30th Street Station Book Fair. In 1991 we purchased the business, name and stock of Samuel Kleinman's legendary Schuylkill Book and Curio Shop of 4207 Lancaster Ave., Phila. PA. Thanks for reading, and give us a call to check out the shop!

Excellent little book shop that caters to the romantic/fiction/paranormal readers out there. Not…read moreonly do they have books they also have cute charms and mugs. For such a small store they even have a small sale section roughly 20-30% off title price. Friendly staff always there to help. Authors come by all the time to do book signing! Amazing dynamic we have here. Got me a cell phone charm, cat lover's delight, will come back again!

[Out-of-Towner Review]…read more I'm pretty sure TT told me about Cupid's Booksthop I had a moment to stop by, so I happily did! Little did I know this area was soo cute and heavily trafficked! Parking was a nightmare, but it was worth it. But the Manayunk neighborhood is adorable! So, they claim they are the "city's first brick-and-mortar romance bookstore." But I did find another that also claims this too! Regardless, I'm ALWAYS going to go to a #romancebookstore! I also happens to walk in during an #authorevent, where Lily Larkspur was signing "Merry Meet Again. Lily said if Hallmark movies were my jam, the.n I'd like her book, so obviously I got it. Signed, and all I honestly don't need any more books (WEIRD to say), so i browsed for a good, long while. But finally, I settled on a book with the edges sprayed in a soccer ball pattern -- the girly tomboy in me loves a book about my fave sport The bookstore, all 600 square feet, is extremely packed full of all romance genres that are very visibly labeled. They also have adorable merch, clothing, and tons of romance trinkets. But BY FAR are the Cockmark (bookmarks) that are so unassuming Also, just down the street is the brand new Thrillerdeplia, a horror and thriller bookstore! I didn't have a chance to swing by, but I'm adding it to my "to do" list! Philly has a limited selection findependent bookstores but Cupid is worth a visit!

That should've been an easy grab, but wasn't a part of the offerings. Asked an employee for help, she said she'd "look" & then never returned. A nice selection of items in a convenient location, but missing a lot of the tchotchke items I love & the "stay-awhile" vibe I so appreciate w/ this chain.

You'll find things separated by genre upstairs and a lot of great suggestions for local authors and new reads downstairs. Great ideas for gifts, a lot of hyper-local reads and trinkets, and just a great way to expand your mind for an afternoon. I like getting a beverage, walking around, and reading backs of books to add to my list. I typically prefer to buy from small, local bookshops, but when I know I need something specific (in this case, a smutty beach read and the new Sally Rooney), I tend to gravitate here for ease. That being said, they didn't have the exact smutty beach read I was looking for! I know Emily Henry is Emily Henry and it's spring break season but...come on. We must keep her stocked for the girlies! Overall, a great option for killing time in center city and refilling your literary cup with inspiration. Happy reading!

This place deserves no stars at all what so ever. I don't know how she can stay in business still,…read moreespecially when she is unprofessional as a store owner and even as a mother of two boys! First of all if your a mother, there are ways to talk to a child. Especially if it's a customers child. Not weather your child is sleeping or not. DON'T hush another child. What you could of said was... my child is sleeping, could you not make to much noise please. But yet your a mother of two kids and you still don't know how to talk to kids. How would we have known that your child was sleeping. A lot of the times, customers don't know if a child or baby is sleeping. So don't hush someone else's child especially the ones that you didn't bring into this world. Secondly, you have a very bad potty mouth!!! How dare you call a customer a b*tch in front of 4 kids and a baby! Like really?! We all have a mouth and speak. But your a mom of two and you curse in front of them like that to customers?! How wonderful your kids will grow up to be and to treat others with no RESPECT at all. That is such a shame. This owner is nothing but a shame to business owners and also to other moms out there. You need help. A lot of help and fast! Definitely won't be back or recommend this nasty place to anyone ever!
