Okay, I know this is a weird first line to describe a comic book store but this sits next to one of the most amazing corner store deli's I have ever been to. Please enjoy a monster packed sandwich at 7's Deli next door if you come here. On to the review of the comic shop...This place has a lot going for it, graphic novels rack with 30% off, tee-shirts, wall comic books (expensive sought after comic books that are fun to look at on the wall) and what appears to be a large back issue stock. I was killing some time and only bought a comic book oversized sleeve with a backing to protect the first appearance of Shadow Moon Premiere issue 23. I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Maybe time I branch out and give the retail store some of my bucks, what is it they say, spread the wealth....or the remaining few dollars we have on disposable income : ) As always people SYOY!!! read more

What can I say; it's my favorite local comic book shop. Been going here for years but I'm on a Yelp review kick so I can leave this place out! Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place! read more

There's a big reason why I always go to Brave New Worlds over other comic/hobby shops and that's because of the cleanliness and order! Most independent places look like someone's basement that hasn't been organized since 1982, but this place is spacious, well lit, and as I mentioned, very well organized. I typically go there to mull over board games and Warhammer stuff, but they have a large selection of graphic novels, and a pretty awesome section of toys and trinkets. If you're addicted to cute stuff maybe you should stay away, lest you leave with a bunch of plushies. Also, I'm not sure if anyone would care about this aside from me, but they have a huge backlog of Tee Fury shirts! For those who don't know, Tee Fury is a 'shirt a day' website and once a design is gone, it's gone. But this place buys in bulk so you might get lucky sifting through their inventory. I really like that this place caters to all sorts of nerds, there's something for everyone here. read more

This shop was not on our initial visit list as we really couldn't find great information about it and the pictures seemed "average". Not visiting would have been a serious mistake as we left impressed. They are easy to miss from the highway if you haven't been there before, use the Wawa sign as a point of reference. Parking is somewhat limited. Brave New Worlds is a large comic book shop with a good amount of space. Shop is well stocked and covers just about every interest. They have a good new pull selection and large selection of graphic novels. Longbox selection is fair, but they have a large and well organized selection of dollar books. Wall book selection was also fair. Various figures and collectables are located all around the shop. The Pop Vinyl selection was large with a few exclusives mixed in. Japanese model kits were among the unique items in stock. Glass cases full of statues are one of the first things seen when entering the shop. They have some gaming items and a small gaming space in the back behind the new pull comics. Overall, Brave New Worlds was a great unexpected find on our trip to the Philadelphia area comic shops. Best shop we visited in the Philadelphia area and perhaps one of the best in the state. A must stop if you are in the area. read more

I will admit, the first time I visited Brave New World comics it wasn't the best experience but in the subsequent visits it was awesome!! I first heard about Brave New Comics 4 years ago when my friend told me about an awesome comic book shop he was just at in Willow Grove. I learned I could get to it by following Welsh Road all the way down (the road it's on, going the other way it ends in Hatfield 5 minutes from my house). We went there and I was amazed by the amazing selection, but unfortunately my friend couldn't make up his mind and looked at everything, so I did the same. After a bit the manager came over to us and asked us to leave because he thought we were eyeing up the place to steal or something. We were taken aback, and didn't have the chance to get anything, but if anything It makes me appreciate they take this seriously (although they could have given us the option of buying anything we were looking at but hey we didn't want to argue). That experience didn't deter me away and I came back by myself the following year when I was in my Funko Pop phase, and I was impressed by the selections of pops they had! The employees there that time around were pretty awesome too! I'm not there as often as I'd like to be (even following Welsh Road all the way down I'm still 40 minutes away) and the parking lot is small, cramped and doesn't have alot of room to back up to leave so that doesn't get me too excited to come visit). Still, It's not a bad comic book store it has an awesome selection of products, and Willow Grove is an awesome area. When I do come down in the area, it's always neat to stop by! read more

Where to start? That's how I feel about this review and how I sometimes feel when I walk into this place. Let me start with what is, imho, the BIGGEST (in caps) positive of this place; the toy selection. It is ridiculous, and being a Final Fantasy fanboy makes it all that more magical to me. Heroclix, other games, models, so many thing I can't even possibly list how awesome it is. Moving on. The layout is pretty cool, not too confusing, but you may have to look a little.... especially for back issues. They are tucked into a corner of the store in pull out manila cabinets... it works, but it's awkward, especially when kids are staring you down while they set up their D&D game (it's a very secretive thing). New issues are easy to find... if they are in stock. I have sometimes found that they are out of something I need and that should definitely be in stock, but at the same time, this comic book store is the reason I've found some treasures I would have never found as well (and great gifts for friends). The staff also saves this place (especially the owner...what a nice guy... =).... also, they had a really awesome set for free comic book day and things moved a lot smoother thanks to the staff. The trade collection is awesome.... IF you are looking for American goods.... don't come here expecting anything of an oriental express.... because you will be expressly disappointed. I am a huge manga fan... while they do carry DeathNote and a thing or two I enjoy (Bleach, some other semi obscure stuff) this is NOT the place to go for manga.... This IS however the place to go for comic book clothes/gadgets/accessories (what are you doing not wearing your white lantern ring? o_O)...... Go here if you are just a hobbyist, are in the area, are looking for quality customer service, or are looking for gifts. I don't recommend this spot for the hardcore. read more

If you're looking for comics, it's not well stocked, more hard books. But it's not mostly books, it's evenly split between books, miniature games, card games, comics, and toys. Maybe mostly toys. They also have the worst customer service. Things should be sold at the sticker price, not higher - especially if it's cash, right? That's easy to say "Oh, here's the other dollar back, I'll go update the 80% of stickers that are wrong," but it must take some chutzpah to say "No, you have to pay extra because we put the wrong sticker on it." Mention the price before ringing it up maybe? Don't just take cash and then refuse to give correct change, that's pretty shitty. If you're going to be awful like that, at least give a refund and let me go - offering store credit after short changing me? I'll be at 7th Dimension Games from now on (and I'm sorry I didn't go there in the first place, just happened to be in Willow Grove today!) read more

Really one of the great comic shops in the area (especially outside of Center City). I've been going to Brave New Worlds since they were all the way down on Route 611 in Jenkintown. Every time they moved, I followed. and with each move, the place expanded and became even better. The current location is by far the best. They've really expanded both the comic selection, and built up their selection of collectibles and toys. Toy and collectible prices are fairly reasonable, especially when you can see some of the cooler items in person, instead of having to look at them online. The staff here is also one of the reasons I always come back here. I've always been greeted as I walked in the door, or shortly after. They are never overbearing, and let you browse around, but have been quite helpful and honest when I've had questions. I think people in the area should really give this place a visit. Since i have been back to Brave new worlds, now that they have moved to a larger location, they have expanded to carry so many great titles; including independent comics. I love the selection here, and it's pretty much impossible to be let down by them. They will have everything that your looking for, and the dudes who work in the shop are very cool. They pretty much know everything and anything comic related and will help you find whatever your looking for, as well as directing you to new and old titles that you'll probably like. Great comic book store, wonderful and extensive selection. I needed to find a hard to find Dylan Dog Collection, what can I say? I'm from Italy and I loved the original one that I had to have the US (crappy shall I say) version. Staff was very friendly and took theri time to help me pbtain the copy, ordered and I got the call within a week to let me know it arrived (tried this with a South Street store and they never called nor order the comic in question). I've been an on-again, off-again customer of the store for years, but that's due more to me moving then anything they've done wrong. The store is large, clean, and well stocked. The staff is friendly and actively engaging and unlike other stores in the area don't treat customers as disposable. Brave New Worlds is a great comic book store, and it continues to be my go to spot even though it is half an hour away. What may be one of the nicest qualities about this place is the layout. Generally speaking, most comic book shops are not the cleanest places around. Brave New Worlds on the other hand is very well lit and organized with no clutter strewn across the aisles. All of their paper backs are alphabetized against the back wall with labels showing which issues have come out that week. Their paper backs almost stretch the entire length of the store, holding a variety of publishers. Their hard backs cater to smaller publishers, but at the same time they have a pillar of hardback comics devoted to Marvel and DC. I've been coming here for over a year and have had no bad experiences with the staff. Eric and George are usually who I see, and they're honestly half the reason I come back. read more

Brave New Worlds is the absolute best comic book store in the area, and a great place to play tabletop games. They also offer an extensive selection of books, gifts, clothes, toys, and collectibles for geeks and gamers. BNW holds regularly scheduled tournaments and gaming nights for Heroclix, Warhammer 40K, limited and constructed Magic: The Gathering, and more. Of those games, I only play MTG, and I've had only positive experiences playing and shopping. They have a wide selection of Legacy, Modern, and Standard singles and packaged MTG products. I've shopped at Brave New Worlds for at least 13 years and the store has never stopped improving. They've relocated several times, and their current location is by far the biggest and best. The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable, and will order something if they don't have it in stock. Do your inner geek a favor and stop at Brave New Worlds! read more

Every one in here is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. They have almost all selections of comic books, toys and mtg although the individual cards can be a bit pricey. I am a thirty-three year old gentleman who had admittedly drifted far from the shadows of Gotham, the shoals of the Dreaming, the pillars of Asgard, and the Marvels of Manhattan that I used to visit consistently in my adolescence. Those stories have always lingered in the back of my mind while I began to focus my time on controlled substances and the endless pursuit of (willing) vagina. So, when my current squeeze, suggested that I could possibly maintain a healthy, albeit dirty sex life, as well as moderated interest in the comic shop, I was both excited and skeptical. "It's been too long", I said, "I don't know if I'm really all that interested." At this point she pointed to her tattoos of Spidey, Kabuki, Jean Gray and Phoenix: Ten minutes later we were googlin' local comic shops. Enter BRAVE NEW WORLD. Walking in we were met with a geekish smile that carried a warmth that provided an altogether different customer experience from the Starbucks barista down the street. While, they both panged of hipster, this guy was a far cry from douche bag. He asked what I was interested in perusing. I gazed upon the shelves of bound nostalgia, and even as pimple was budding on the back of my neck, I knew I was home. After finding a shady corner to tuck my boner, I began the process of catching up. We bought a few trades from Vertigo, The Boys, the collected edition of Bone, and some assorted bits of DC and Marvel, while the Pixies crept through the speakers overhead. The knowledgeable staff coupled with the great selection, cemented this store as my new haunt. They offered suggestions and said they'd order whatever we needed. I don't even care that their parking lot is less accommodating than a gas station bathroom, I'm sold. I didn't even have the urge to steal anything, a fact that might be a result of the growth garnered in my advanced age, or it might be that the clerk wasn't sleeping. One of the best comics in/near the city of Philadelphia. Extremely well organized, clean, and a very friendly staff. Their selection is also vast, including comics, apparel, toys, and other collectibles. I don't play games, such as Heroclix or Magic The Gathering, but they have people playing in the back all the time and have designated meeting times for these games. Overall a very fun place to hang out, find comics, and converse with any of their friendly staff members. read more

The best comic shop I've ever been to! Every shop I've been to in my travels pales in comparison. I've been a customer for many years now and the staff has always been extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful in tracking things down or simply to offer recommendations. The shop has always been very well stocked and clean and orderly. If you can't find something, just ask! The staff is more than happy to put something on order and bring it in. Where to start off with this review. I've pretty much exclusively come to this shop for all of my comic and Graphic Novel Reads, I live in Philly and Travel all the way to Willow Grove because I hate the Down Town Area and the people who live in that area. The store is huge, well lit and all around very organized. Some of the employees are nice, others not so much. My main complaint that I have is the "Book Club" You spend a certain amount and after 10 or so books you get a discount and the discount is that of what you usually spend. So, if you spend $30 bucks most of the time, you get $30 off your purchase when you hit your mark. I've been coming here for three years and only been entitled to that book deal ONE TIME. I was in there about a week ago and asked what my book count was at because a friend who also comes here with me most of the time was once again entitle to another free book and they said I was at 4...even though I brought about 40 books from there in the last year alone, and dropped close to $300 dollars on said books. I bring this up and their reasoning was that and I quote "I don't shop here all the time and that is only meant for the people who are here pretty much every day" So, me, being annoyed at that, calmly asked them to remove my name and other information they may have and they said they can't because that is how things are run and that is how they handle purchases. Like I said, Great location, most of the employees are ok, That book club though is pretty much a rip off and a cock tease and is what turned me off from going there like I use to, One of the main reasons why I have moved on recently to just getting my graphic novels and single issues online and mailed right to my house. I don't have to deal with people pretending to look out for me with a shitty "Book Club" that is only entitled to certain people. read more

Clean, organized and a good selection of $1.00 books. Parking lot from hell and they have moved a lot over the years. My beef would be that they do nothing for a loyal customer. I never haggle on a price but have had other comic stores offer to give wiggle room if you are interested in a big purchase. I buy all my new books at Comics-n-More in Plymouth Meeting Mall and receive a 20% discount on all new and used books as a subscriber. Think about that. I spend anywhere between $40-$50 a week on new books. That's 2-3 books FREE compared to here besides mentioning that discount on supplies as well. $8 to$10 bucks a week for the same comics. The plus would be that they always seem to have recent back issues. I'll miss recent stuff at Comics-n-More and they'll have it here. I've been collecting since the 70's and seem to have almost as many back issues as they do since they carry a ton of toys, games and merchandise instead which I understand...it sells as opposed to back issues. read more

Simply put, this is one of the best comic book stores you'll find around. A great selection of statues, action figures, comic books (both old and new), and graphic novels. The staff is very friendly, the store is is well-organized and there are th occassional events there as well.
