This is a nice spot to stop for coffee and breakfast. Their coffee drinks can lean a bit too sweet at times, but they do offer a good variety of flavors to choose from. I've tried a few of their breakfast options--the croissant egg and cheese was good and flavorful, while the potatoes on the side were just okay, nothing particularly memorable. I didn't love the French toast, though--it was a bit too dense and made with standard sandwich bread rather than something richer like challah or brioche. On top of that, it was pretty heavily drenched in syrup, which made it a bit overwhelming.

A hidden gem on main street in downtown Riverhead, NY, Long Island. Perfect place to grab a latte, mimosa, or dirty soda. Warm and cozy seating area to sit and relax while sipping a cup of Java. Baked goods and small bites available. There is wide variety of specialty made, lattes, espresso including Ryze mushroom coffee. Staff is friendly and offers great recommendations.

Great little coffee and brunch spot right on Main Street. Only stopped in for coffee, but all the food and drinks looked good. Coffee was great, and there were tons of add-ons if you wanted. Service was fast and friendly.

Cute brunch spot. A bit out of my way but it definitely worth the travel. Love the food varieties and service

Mugs on Main is your cozy local coffee shop. It gives major Central Perk vibes. When to Riverhead for the day & saw this place on tiktok and didn't disappoint. I ordered a churro latte, decaf with oat milk & a croissant breakfast sandwich. My hubby ordered the peconic punch (a dirty soda) & the spicy steak breakfast wrap. Food & vibes 10/10. We will be back!!

Great coffee and food! I got a salted caramel iced latte and a lunch sandwich, both of which were really good. I honestly don't remember what kind of sandwich it was exactly, but it had turkey and bacon. It also came with a side of chips that tasted homemade and were amazing. The girl that took my order was super nice and everything came out quick. I also love that they have a lot of seating inside (and some outside). They also have a bar if you wanted to get an espresso martini instead... might have to come back to try one!

    Quite the menu.

I'm not trying to solely write five star reviews these days. Honestly I'm just trying to write reviews in general (life is busy). But five star write-ups tend to flow more easily because everything is just awesome, and so is the case with the words I'm spewing about Mugs on Main. Now sometimes I'm weary to construct a five star review after one visit, but on a recent week I was able to find myself in Riverhead two times for some morning coffee and both MoM trips were fantastic. Fusing the two experiences together going forward, let's start with the ambiance. Mugs on Main feels like a snazzy cocktail bar at first glance when walking in from East Main Street, though swing around to the back entrance and you get a comfy, couch-y coffee vibe. Meet in the middle and you'll understand that Mugs isn't huge in size, but has just what you want aesthetically and spatially from a coffee spot. Beyond the interior, the employees fall into that same "just-what-you-want" realm as they were friendly, helpful, and even a little generous (I asked for a sticker and the guy said "Yeah I'm not gonna charge you for it; here take two"). The attention to detail within each coffee cup that's concocted is also evident by the end results (check the portrait-pics). Most importantly, the coffee is quality. Well, I do have to say that my wife and I dabbled in the realm of exotic lattes and so it wasn't as much about the coffee flavor as it was about the sweetness, but the options here at Mugs on Main are quite elaborate. Whether it's a latte with lavender or one with chili (you heard that right) or even the butterscotch butter beer/Harry Potter themed latte, you'll definitely find something unique. On my first trip, I went down the chocolate orange route with the "Choco-latte" that had dark chocolate amaretto, chocolate whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and orange zest. Surprisingly it wasn't overly chocolatey and you could really taste that amaretto (and orange) kick. Yum. Second time I got the Salted-Caramel-o-yeah which was just as decadent and delicious. So was my wife's Over the Rainbow (rainbow cookie) latte. She got my chocolate orange one the second trip and it just rounded out plenty of wonderful coffee for us both. Overall, Mugs On Main is a marvelous storefront of coffee and then some (the food menu is extremely enticing as well so look for that in a future review). With a great setup, friendly staff, and some delectable latte options, you can't go wrong here. Hopefully you also see the ease of writing my five star sonnet whenever you visit so that you can understand the love I have for MoM.

    BEC in a mug

I'm very torn with this review. I heard about this place via Facebook. I was in the area today and had some time to spare so I stopped in. When I walked in I was greeted, but when I mentioned I've never been before, I didn't get any response back. After a quick glance of the menu I decided on Gimmie S'more latte and BEC in a mug. So the drinks and food come out two different locations. The coffee comes out of the coffee bar area and the food from the kitchen of course. While the Gimmie S'more was tasty, it wasn't as described on the menu. The menu described it as toasted marshmallows, chocolate ribbons and graham cracker crumbles. I didn't get any of that in my latte. I got mini marshmallows, chocolate syrup and no graham crackers. The BEC was tasty too. Definitely had good flavor/seasoning. It wasn't cheesy though. At one point throughout my meal I needed napkins. My fault for not grabbing any when I retrieved my drink and food. When I approached the counter where the silverware was I didn't see any napkins. When I attempted to ask one of the workers behind the counter, she was on her phone. I had to say "excuse me" more than once to get her attention. Throughout my meal I witnessed this same employee be on her phone, even as more customers came in. Overall it wasn't a bad meal. I wouldn't come out of my way to return, but I would return if I was in the area again. Total for breakfast was about $16

In reply to the owner... made from scratch still doesn't justify it by any means. It took 10 minutes to make both beverages. You can buy 1 lb of high quality organic matcha for $15. That was the most expensive ingredient. It's businesses like yours that are setting this new unrealistic standard. Just be honest and ask a fair price, it's not that hard.

You've got your hot espresso bar classics, iced espresso drinks, flavored lattes, cold brews and shaken drinks, refreshers, smoothies, teas, and even seasonal features like holiday specials. I ordered the holiday cookie latte iced, and it was so fun for the season! It was sweet, cozy, and totally delicious with that festive vibe you want this time of year. There's a whole holiday lineup at many locations if you're feeling festive. On top of drinks, they have bakery items, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and more if you're hungry. My only disappointment is that they only serve breakfast and lunch, and not dinner. It is a culinary teaching program, and they have limited hours. Their Spring 2025 semester is closing soon on May 15, 2025. It is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 3 P.M. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 10:30 am Lunch from 9 am to 2 pm. Twenty-four of us had our monthly luncheon there in April. Everyone raved about their order, and many have been back since bringing their friends. Downtown Riverhead is welcoming to shoppers with ample free municipal parking and increased security. The facility is accessible through the rear door adjacent to the Municipal lot behind 20 Main Street. Our group asked to come back in May. The staff is friendly, the food terrific, and the facility clean. If you walk towards the rear entrance, you will see students working with their teachers. The entire kitchen is on view. Once you place your order, you can wait in the adjacent room looking over Main Street. Staff will bring your order to your table. I failed to mention their selection of desserts and gelato. Not all cakes are available daily since the students learn to bake specific cakes as part of the curriculum. They make a flourless chocolate cake, which is amazing.
