I've lived in the West Bend area for 20 years and this was the first time I've stopped to grab a…read morebite at "Our Place". Driving by I've often seen a number of cars in the parking lot. The outdoor volleyball courts also appear to be a summer draw. The inside is large, clean and appears mostly updated/remodeled. There seems to be a significant amount of wasted open space in the area away from the bar. If this area is used for local bands then I say spot on, if not then the space is under utilized. We visited about 6 p.m. on a Friday night. There were about 20 people sitting around the bar and few tables. We were able to sit at a table without a wait at all. The server/bartender were pleasant and I could see they were engaging with the customers they were familiar with. In a bar I think it's how the staff interacts with the customer that determines if the customer becomes a regular. Those working had the right attitude and I would return because of that. Our dinners on our visit were the cod/fries & pecan crusted pan fried walleye/fried garlic mashed potatoes. The style of how the walleye was prepared was beyond what I expected from a bar environment. The food was typical of what to expect in a Wisconsin bar, fried & somewhat greasy. The coleslaw with dinner had good flavor but was to small of a portion. Prices were reasonable minus the $2.50 surcharge to use their ATM. There are many options out there I won't rush to return but also wouldn't be opposed if someone suggested going to "Our Place".

We had 3 different people come to our table to see how things were going which was really nice. The owner even stayed a while to talk about the business and his other restaurants in the area. Started with a Scotch Egg and I had the Cottage Pie, my wife had the Fish and Chips and we finished with the Sticky Pudding. Everything tasted great. Have to say, the ordering by phone was a little challenging, but we figured it out. Great addition to the Public Market. Definitely will be back.

This restaurant sits in the Mequon Public Market and legitimately has better fried fish (and chips) than St. Paul Fish Market just across the parking lot, as crazy as that sounds. The batter is light but crispy, and there's a generous cut of fish under the relatively "fluffy" exterior and the fries were fresh and awesome. They also have a respectable beer selection, plus some good cocktails on offer. We were acknowledged and never ignored by staff even though there's an option to order everything through a QR code on the table. The manager stopped by a few times to check on us before it got overly busy, which was also nice. I'm excited to come back here and enjoy the patio when it warms up.

Parking is convenient. Street level entrance was another plus. Once inside we were greeted with a well decorated establishment that appeared to be well maintained and clean. After sitting down, the staff wasted no time coming to take our orders. We had burgers and fries with one orange juice and one soda. The food was absolutely delicious. Yet, another place I recommend for grabbing a bite to eat. Very nice. Incessant Research (Investigative research - not for hire) (Investigative Journalism - not for hire)

I saw Brazen Head Pub post on social media that for four days only they were serving a special…read moreburger called The Garfield, which was a piece of deep fried lasagna on a burger with mozzarella, marinara, and buns toasted like garlic bread. Both my older son and I thought this sounded amazing so we stopped in on a Friday night to try it. We both got fries for our side. The burger was great as expected. Breading and deep frying the lasagna helped prevent it from being a mess and they added enough marinara to give it flavor without overpowering anything. The fries were lightly salted, but were otherwise just boring, plain potato. Apparently 6pm on a Friday is a horrible time to visit Brazen Head Pub if you want to be seated in a reasonable timeframe. My son and I stood there for at least 20 minutes watching a table that was done eating and the gentleman and his credit card in hand, ready to pay if someone would ever stop and give him his bill. While this was going on, another couple at the bar finished their food and sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for their check. It's almost as if the employees had no desire to turnover tables even with a line at the door including and behind us. There were three people bartending/waiting tables so they had plenty of coverage given the smaller size of the place. At one point, closer to the end of our meal, one of the bartenders looked at my son and I and asked "are you guys good?" as he was literally walking away from us and I was holding up an empty soda glass to show him I'd like a refill. Oddly, he gave me a thumbs up and kept going. I don't even know what to make of that other than poor service. The music that was playing was excessively loud. If it was a live band, I'd get it, that's part of the show and I wouldn't complain. For random music on speakers to drown out all conversations unless you're yelling, that's dumb.
