I've lived in the West Bend area for 20 years and this was the first time I've stopped to grab a bite at "Our Place". Driving by I've often seen a number of cars in the parking lot. The outdoor volleyball courts also appear to be a summer draw. The inside is large, clean and appears mostly updated/remodeled. There seems to be a significant amount of wasted open space in the area away from the bar. If this area is used for local bands then I say spot on, if not then the space is under utilized. We visited about 6 p.m. on a Friday night. There were about 20 people sitting around the bar and few tables. We were able to sit at a table without a wait at all. The server/bartender were pleasant and I could see they were engaging with the customers they were familiar with. In a bar I think it's how the staff interacts with the customer that determines if the customer becomes a regular. Those working had the right attitude and I would return because of that. Our dinners on our visit were the cod/fries & pecan crusted pan fried walleye/fried garlic mashed potatoes. The style of how the walleye was prepared was beyond what I expected from a bar environment. The food was typical of what to expect in a Wisconsin bar, fried & somewhat greasy. The coleslaw with dinner had good flavor but was to small of a portion. Prices were reasonable minus the $2.50 surcharge to use their ATM. Food was great. Service was great. Dining area is large. They accept card (not cash only). Some of the past reviews seem to vary, but the food seems consistently good. If you're looking for a good fish fry, this is a great option. read more

Not a great experience whenever the bartender argues with you over people she had complained about earlier in the night. Asked two guys when they would be done playing pool they said 3 games. Closer to the three games being doing I asked again just so we know and nobody else took the table. They said this was their last game, however I watched them rerack after that and then walk away to take a some break knowing people were waiting, I mentioned to my friends that they don't care that we are waiting they played another game so we should leave, she turned around and blew up saying well maybe they are in a league (which fine just say you will be on the table for awhile) and continued to argue with me when I explained the exchange I had with them.she got very aggressive for no reason to someone who is a paying customer in the bar. Poor service, snotty bartender. Waited 25 minutes for any service cause the bartender was too busy hanging out at the end of the bar on her phone or chatting with her friends. When I mentioned how long I'd been waiting she called me a liar and said I'd only been there ten minutes and that she's busy "dealing with the tap lines." Seems really petty to try and pick a fight with a customer. Left without buying anything. read more

Top notch service. Great food. Nice atmosphere. But it's 2016, not 1976. People don't carry cash. Even Rural WI is finally getting a clue. We carry plastic for good reasons. Even if they are to cheap to spring for an Credit card machine, there are phone apps to process credit cards. An all cash business jas benefits...for the owners. But having to pay an ATM fee after a meal is irritating and will mean we won't be coming back. Maybe if we see a flyer "We've joined the modern world and now accept plastic", but otherwise...no. read more

it's a bar, so you get bar food. If I want some Jalapeno poppers or a 20 dollar bar pizza this is the place I'll go.

First off, five stars for our server, but everything else.... ick. On a Saturday night, nobody there to eat, except for my wife and I. Unfortunately, the kitchen was shut down except for aps and "home made" pizzas. When asked if they actually make their pizzas, the answer was they use a packaged crust and put toppings on it. It tasted just like that, lousy. Expensive too. Maybe I'd go back to try a burger, but not any time real soon. Sorry folks. read more

Used to hang out here "back in the day"! Would not choose to hang out there today. The remodeling is nice, but somehow looks too open, sterile....and empty! Stopped for a quick lunch (40 minute excursion), and was unimpressed. Burger was just ok, and actually cooked to medium. The fries it came with were obviously cooked ahead and held under a 40 watt bulb, or some other bulb that doesn't hold heat. They were tepid at best, which was irritating. The bartender was alone, so she disappeared into the kitchen to complete an order. I know that's not uncommon at a "bar" bar. But when you serve lunch, you should understand anyone that works needs to be out in half an hour. She was also very obligatory in her manner. Not really engaging....fake friendly. 20 years ago this was definitely "Our Place". Today, maybe it's "Their Place", "Your Place", or "Some Place"....but it ain't "My Place"!! read more

Husband ordered broasted chicken special. First piece he ate (white meat) seemed okay. Second piece (dark meat) had blood oozing out and was very pink/raw in the center. When stated his concerns, he was told the chicken was done because the timer went off and chicken with bones will have some red in it. Unacceptable. Stopped in last night at 8:30. They said the kitchen was closed. At 8:30 on a Saturday night? I'm sure it had nothing to do with only one bartender there, and the owner playing a game and getting drunk with his buddies instead. I had already ordered a drink in anticipation of ordering food. So I paid with a $10 and got $3 in change. $7 for a drink??? Umm, where the hell do you get off charging $7 for a drink? The place is a shithole in the wall. I demanded a refund but was denied. I didn't even touch the drink and left. Never again will I go in there. Absolutely never again. I'm gonna try to not let anyone else I know go there either. What a joke read more

Don't try using a Restaraunt.Com gift certificate on Friday night. Apparently they make up their own rules and decided not to honor them Fridays. Guess they dont want new business on a busy night. Too bad--they lost mine forever and are getting a lot of bad PR as a result. read more
