I was at muffler man recently on 8-21-25. This was one of the most craziest things I ever saw. I saw the lead mechanic at muffler man end up throwing over 10 punches to one of his own customers. This is what i saw happen from the parking lot when I was going to bring my car in, I obviously couldn't, because of what happens next. The customer was trying to figure out some things wrong with his car. Asking sincere and reasonable questions. He was only chatting with the lead mechanic for a few minutes and then all of a sudden I heard the mechanic get really loud, swearing and telling the customer to **** off and say I'm not going to argue with you and he stormed off to the garage. Since the customer said he gave the mechanic the last of his money. The customer said he was just trying to get some ideas for how to fix the car(he later told me he paid them $1500 to get the car running and they never actually got it running and seemed like they were trying to blow him off at this point.) The customer suggested a fuel pump and a relay and the mechanic said if he installs it and it doesn't work it's just a waste of time. I was in the parking lot watching from my car. The customer followed the mechanic into the garage to apologize and say sorry for making you mad. The customer said, I wasn't trying to argue, but just have a civil conversation about what else I could do to the car to possibly get it running. The mechanic yelled at the customer telling him to get the **** out of his garage. I don't give a **** what's wrong with your car it's not my ******* problem you better get the **** out of my garage right now. The customer said wow... okay and left the garage. I saw him standing from the parking lot after this. I heard the customer try to communicate one last time from a professional manner, super calm, and patient. Saying there has to be something we can do, but this is when things got really nasty. The lead mechanic completely snapped 0-100 in less than 2 seconds and got in the customers face and started throwing punches at his own customer. I counted almost 10 punches. There were over 10 witnesses. The customer never fought back. He had his hands up trying to defend himself. As the lead mechanic of Muffler Man sat there reigning punches down on their customer. I was horrified. Kids were watching this. I was watching this. Other customers were watching this. It took his wife who works the office to get him to stop punching this man. When the cops got to the business the mechanic tried to say the customer pushed him and pulled a knife out, but never did I see such a thing. there are also cameras where the customer was brutally assaulted so that won't hold up. Imagine being the lead mechanic at a shop and not only absolutely beating the **** out of a kind and respectful customer but then lying to the police saying he pulled a knife. I was right there. He was getting his face punched in the entire time. I testified for the officers, but the video tapes will tell the truth that the mechanic beat up his customer, than called the cops and said the customer pulled a knife on him. If you have a family, kids, grandkids. Please keep them far away from this place. If you make him mad by asking the wrong question this too could be you. Thank goodness there's camera footage to show the true intentions of this deranged mechanic. I used to come here all the time. I was very supportive and gave them lots of business from myself and family, but after this I will never be back and my big family that goes here will never be back. I would not be surprised if the customer sues. I overheard his wife who works front desk and several employee, backup this mans lies. The customer never fought back. It shows you they are not only built on violence and anger but distrust and lies as well. I hope this helps some people. read more

I would suggest zero stars if possible. This was the worst business I've ever done business with. The girl at the desk was rude. The other guys were also and they have destroyed our car. They didn't lift it right, caused damage to the car. We went in there for shocks and struts and front suspension, and the undercarriage of the car is ruined and many other things are damaged. A little over a year and a half Muffler man installed a steering rack in my daughters 2004 Honda Accord, it is now leaking fluid quite badly. The part carries a 2yr warranty from both the vendor and the manufacturer, Muffler man policy, they only warranty this part for 1 year. they refuse to honor the 2 years. I was quoted $900 to fix an alternator on a 2011 Toyota Highlander. I pushed back asking why it was so expensive and they insisted it was a difficult fix and an expensive part. I needed it done asap so I reluctantly agreed. I was later quoted $300-$600 by other mechanics on the same fix. My fault for not going somewhere else but doesn't justify their over charging! I then had another issue and brought it to the Toyota dealership. They asked "Who did your alternator replacement? They did a terrible job and you now need your radiator coolant hose fixed" Which cost hundreds more dollars. Don't go here. read more

First time I came to kentwood MI my experience was perfect. They charged me as little as practical. They are very honest and took me right into where my car was & showed me all they could. They explained all. ILso thought (someone told me) the problem was larger than they thot. I ended up paying only 60.00 when I thot would be hundreds for the other problem. I'm here for a second time. Something with my fuel system . AutoZone said it's fuel pump by way of their own scanner. But upon coming in, they said she only needs a tune up. The guy also caught a part error on the delivery. I'm waiting on the fix to finish now. I'm thinking they are right again. & their computer is better too. This place has a bunch if turn over with the workers. Personally that usually means management. Prwsent mngr told me they did have a lot of take backs until recently they got 2 new guys in the bay. So maybe they go in & out of reviews like mine? The guy in my bay said he's got a car with 350 thou miles on original engine & tranny so he needs to be my mechanic$!! read more

Buyer Beware: what i thought was a more economical option has resulted in going back twice for work under warranty that was in need of repair in less than year; Mind you I have to pay for labor, which i did, however went into Ford for my winterization check and was told that my front brakes were wearing and would need to be replaced, the same replacement I had gotten done 2 months prior under warranty; I also was told my shocks needed to be replace another repair I had done less than a year ago and still under warranty. At this point I don't know if its the quality of the plots or they are putting a bandaid on the problem. Learning it was now only 1 technician and they would have my car 2 or more days, i thought this was a sign to go somewhere else which I did. read more

I'd give this location 0 stars if it were possible! Let me give you some background for my experience. I took today off to get my wife's oil changed on her car. Called around 10:30 AM to see if there were any windows where a simple oil change would be possible. Was told by the female answering the phone that if I bring it in around 2 PM it should work. That's exactly what I did. Brought it in at 2 PM... was told that there would be a TWO HOUR wait. My wife's car needed the oil change desperately so I decided to stick it out, killing time by visiting local shops. Two hours elapse and I come back to pick up my car, assuming the girl just forgot to contact me to let me know my car was all set... I get there and she now tells me that with the other cars dropped off, that I'm sure needed more profitable repairs than my meager oil change, that my car PROBABLY wouldn't be able to get the oil changed in it at all today. No apologies, zero sincerity. Just a straight up screw you. Told this girl that I would never be back to this location ever again, and I mean it. No decent business leads people on to believe that the repair can be done promptly at a set time, then tells you it'll be two hours wait, and THEN doesn't even call you as soon as they realize it wont be done that day to give you as much notice as possible. The shop would've closed and I wouldn't have even got a phone call. Seriously don't go here. Business equivalent to slum lords. read more

Do not go and take your hard earned money to this place. Took my Jeep close to 2 months ago to get the muffler repaired since it was extremely loud. Paid over $400 for my muffler to now be doing the exact same thing. I specifically told them to please look at it and fix whatever it needed. Today, the muffler began making the loud noise I had paid to get repaired just to find out they only fixed a section of the muffler. I had my brother call them since I strongly feel that because I'm a women they thought it was easy to just take advantage of me. My brother spoke to Jake, who told us that "this is Michigan and we're known for rust". I understand that, but if they knew it needed to get replaced why didn't they tell me this and only fix a small part of it?! The muffler clearly looks rusted and since my car was already at the shop and I had told them to fix whatever it needed why not replace the muffler if I was already paying for that service. Now they wanted me to take my car back so they could take a look at it and pay for the same service again because Jake says that they don't do "free labor" it is not free labor when I already paid for a service that was not done properly. To top it off, we got nowhere because Jake told us to just have a good day and hung up. read more

I like to share my muffler story to everyone to hear. My name is David. I bought and installed my muffler 3 years ago from muffler Man on Division store. At that time it's had lifetime warranty and told me if anything happens, I just pay for labor and good thing I save my receipt. My muffler started to have little louder than usual. I brought back on Division for them to inspect. I told them was lifetime warranty. The manager was rude and upset at me for that statement. He asked for the receipt and I show him. He went to his office on the computer for about 5 minutes. He came out and say, he will honor this time only. So they brought my car in to inspect and told me to come in the shop to shop me, where the crack was. He machinic told me in order for him to replace my muffler. They need to change from the muffler all the way to the front because it was rusty too much . Will cost me $527 if I want to get it done. I wasn't too happy with the coat and I didn't feel right with his answer. I told him I will come back another to do. As I drove away my muffler was louder than first brought in. I check the next day underneath the muffler was dragging not even content anymore. Yesterday was just small cracked and how it fall apart. I didn't want to deal with them anymore. I decided to go on Muffler Man on 28th Street. Thanks God for them and the Lord bless them for been honest with me. They told they only charge me for labor which is $125 only. They told me I didn't have charge from the muffler to the front, like Division shop say. I just want to thanks 28th Street muffler Man for honest business. I will bring my car to them from now on. I pray for muffler man on Division to change their dishonest business. Life too short to be mad but pray for those who do wrong to me. read more

So far, so good. Called our dealer this morning where we bought our car new and said it sounded like we needed our muffler replaced. They told us they could do it, yet it would cost us about twice what it would cost if we went to Muffler Man. I would have never thought of going to Muffler Man. I looked at the reviews online and they were positive (4+ out of 5) and the comments were quite positive. April greeted me, said it was going to be a wait, yet said I could drop the car off and she'd call me as it is first come, first serve. About 4 hours later on this morning, she gave me a quote for $150 to replace a flex pipe and the final bill was $149.40. Way better than a whole muffler replacement. I was very pleased. I had a great experience at Muffler Man and will never go any place else. I had just taken my car to another repair shop and been told that I urgently needed some expensive repairs. I happened to be with my mom when picking her car up from Muffler man a few days later. The Manager, Vince, offered to take a look at my car and determined that I did not need the repairs the other place had told me were urgent safety concerns. Genuine care and honesty like that is hard to come by these days and I will be a customer for life. I highly recommend them! read more
