Very nice coffee shop on the main stretch of Springfield. There seem to be a big selection of coffee shops in this area and Mudhouse was great. My drink was the "Mudturtle" or something similar. Great coffee, great service. This coffee house has such a warm atmosphere and they went out of their way to double check some ingredients due to allergy concerns. I love the fact that this coffee place is open until 10pm. I can't tell you how many times I have needed or craved a late evening latte with no options other that drive-thurs or gas stations. They have many flavored lattes and I tried the Lavender latte. It was suppose to be in a mug but they put it in a To-go cup but it was good either way. My daughter and I have been making at least a bi-monthly trek, from Nixa, to this establishment. The coffeehouse clientele is one of my favorites. My hands-down preference for a cold coffee drink is the "Grasshopper." It has the right touch of mint to cool and go with my usual large chocolate chip, or vegetarian cookie. Last week when we visited we each tried a doughnut from their own bakery. Mmm, one of the best ever had. Stephanie enjoyed a "Summer Soother," smoothie. I opted for the 1/2 Veggie Love, no cream cheese of course & Mud Moka shake-like smoothie. The Veggie Love came loaded with fresh greens, mushroom, tomato, roasted red peppers, red onion and a light sun dried tomato dressing all stuffed inside a spinach wrap. My Mud Moka was a dark chocolatey conception of coffee, cinnamon, peanut butter, almond milk, banana and other tasty ingredients I can't recall. Just know it was heavenly. My dinning partner chose the 1/2 Cranberry Turkey sandwich 1/2 Greek Freak salad both of which he absolutely loved. I hope the city of Springfield doesn't hate me for this, but the Mudhouse completely screwed up my traditional Macchiato and because of that I just can't give them a high rating. Mudhouse was my 2nd stop on a Springfield coffee trip. Ordered a Macchiato for here, took a number. (I've never heard of a coffee shop handing out numbers. Completely new concept to me). At 8:50 PM on a Thursday night, this place was jammed-packed full of hipster kids. Everywhere. Squeezing my way through all the skinny jeans, I somehow found a place to sit. I liked the low lighting and all the loose-leaf teas on shelves along the walls. This guy brings me my drink and I'm not sure what's happening because the "foam" on top can be described as nothing less than "bumpy." Bumpy foam. Never thought I'd use that word to describe foam. Half of the mountain peak of foam was randomly drenched in espresso while the other part was white. (See picture) The taste? BITTER. That was one bitter, nasty macchiato. I camped out there for several hours looking to hire someone and got caffeinated, got a bite, and finished some work. Things to know: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING: This institution resides on South Avenue aka the main artery of the city. Parking, though, is available all around. Finding it from the street, too, shouldn't be an issue. II. FOOD & DRINK: They offer fresh baked goods, soups, sandwiches, and roast their beans. They also create crazy espresso-concoctions. I tried the following: *Snickerdoodle Latte: Comes with vanilla and cinnamon, it's like ingesting a snickerdoodle cookie with your coffee. It was fun to try once, but I wouldn't do so again. * Espresso: Super strong and tasty. Not necessarily memorable, though. *Cold Brew: Smooth and not acidic. I would recommend this. **Peanut Butter Cookie: Yes. Give me all of the carbs. III. SERVICE: I didn't have any problems with their service. I found Mudhouse's staff to be polite, and I got my order without waiting too long. FYI, their wifi is a bit spotty. They need to upgrade their service to increase the bandwidth or something. IV. AMBIANCE & DECOR: It has the same aesthetic as the coffee shop from friends. It's granola-y, fun, and welcoming. V. PRICES: Affordable. Nothing outrageous here. I think you get your monies-worth. VI. I've been going to the Ozark location until their employee decided to call the police on us. Our kids are never buckled up in their drive thru bc it always takes forever!! I always wondered why all their employees gave me the dirty looks when I pulled up to their window!? Well this past Labor day, when the whole family was enjoying our day off- one of their employees popped out of the drive thru window to randomly ask us what kind of family car we owned, he told us he was "shopping for one". Would never think anything evil of that request until we parked to eat our breakfast and two police officers arrived to check on us. They were very nice and told us since they were called, they wanted to make sure we had car seats for our kids. Of course we did!!! They gave our kids stickers and confirmed our children are required to be in car seats on legal roads NOT in drive thru's!! I went inside the cafe to ask why they called the police!? And that same employee that asked us the model of our car looked so red in the face. SHAME ON YOU MUDHOUSE!!! You have lost not one, but MANY customers! As we told our family and friends of this incident- one after another was in disbelief and stated they will no longer support Mudhouse and their extremely rude employees!!! Hello. I give these folks five stars because Yelp won't let me give them six. :-) I wholeheartedly recommend this nifty little coffee shop. I believe it started out as a locally-owned business in nearby Springfield, MO, and then about a year ago they opened a second one in northern Ozark where I live: the smaller (but rapidly outgrowing itself) farming community about 10-15 miles south of there. I just had my 2nd visit there (through their drive-thru this time) and both experiences were absolutely positive. The first thing you'll notice is, naturally, the wonderful aroma of coffees you're greeted with when you walk in. And for that matter, the decor inside is not all sterile and/or pretentious, the lighting is turned agreeably low (but not excessively) so you don't have a fluorescent bulb attacking your retinas if you're trying to relax in there. It's got some class. :-) Of course the coffee & lattes are really good...I've not tried an espresso there and I'm not a fan of iced coffee, so your mileage may vary...but I can also recommend their sandwiches. I had the BLT in my 2nd trip there today and it was REALLY good if perhaps a bit on the small side for what you pay for it. I suspect however that this likely has more to do with the outrageous sabotage of the entire western world's economy right now causing the prices of every single thing ever to go up, rather than the restaurant's doing. But what REALLY sells this place is the service! I've been to some restaurant hellholes (looking at you, Chili's) where the service is utterly appalling. I've been ignored altogether and forgotten while waiting on my order, I've had a waiter show up at my table still chewing a mouthful of my own entree, some of it still trapped in his chin-stubble, I've had a waiter ignore us and leave our drinks empty because he's chatting up the girls seated at a nearby table, I've had one bring me my entree with his damn thumb in it, while marinating it in his armpit (again...Chili's...not kidding), I could go on for a couple of hours. There are restaurants I won't ever set foot in again without a can of gasoline and some matches with me. I don't think I'll ever see that issue at this nifty little coffee shop. :-) Take it from someone who has worked in both retail and the service industry himself, along with a long, sad march of call centers where your job is to get insulted over the phone for 8 straight hours a day; I know good service when I see it. The ladies at the Mudhouse are friendly, congenial, and do not not NOT treat you like just another faceless consumer rolling along the checkout counter assembly line. They're polite and sincere and make me want to keep coming back. If you go to one of the Mudhouse's locations, PLEASE tip them generously (I have no affiliation with them, before you ask) because they deserve it. Visited Springfield for a work thing and stopped here every morning for 3 days. Very cute ambiance with local art, warm interior. The vegetarian breakfast burritos hit the spot. The cardamom latte (with oat milk) was just awesome! Lightly sweet, lovely spiced cardamom flavor. Morning glory muffin tastes like banana bread and gingerbread cookies. read more

So great place to grab a smoothie (green smoothies1), sandwich, salad, and a cold brew. But this is an awful place to do any real work unless you want to be around a lot a lot of people not doing work. I don't think I have every seen a coffee shop or restaurant this busy in the town of Springfield. And people from all age ranges, but lots of college students b/c of State. It's also slightly dark inside with not a lot of natural lighting, but there are plenty of yellow lights. I think this is one of the oldest coffee shops downtown. It is less modern than the other ones around the block like European, Ethic, but it's cozy. It is clearly the most popular one. People are also super friendly. read more

In downtown Springfield I frequent two coffee shops... Mudhouse and kingdom coffee. Whereas kingdom coffee has a more modern environment, furniture, and natural lighting (very bright), mudhouse is hipster, darker, more comfortable seating (some leather couches/armchairs), and a better vibe in my opinion. The coffee selection at mudhouse is also more representative of today's Starbucks coffee culture, along with some creative options like lavender flavored drinks (kingdom is much more limited and traditional coffee techniques and styles). I am very particular about my coffee. And when I say coffee, I mean lattes. This review is based on lattes only as I am not a plain coffee drinker and wouldn't know a good cup of black coffee even if it was clearly labeled in bold italic font as the "World's BEST Coffee, I SWEAR." No, I'm a latte drinker and I prefer it sweet. Not sickly sweet, but something under that but above bitter. Have I confused anybody? My husband and I stopped in for a latte to enjoy on our drivie home (we live an hour away). They have a small menu of specialty drinks, so I chose a Mud Turtle which was a chocolate and caramel latte. At first taste, it was very mild, almost too mild like just steamed milk. I added a packet of raw sugar, gave it a big stir, and took a sip. Perfect! Not bitter, not overly sweet. Great balance. I was very happy. Hubs got a mocha latte, and he was pleased as well. And yes, he is just as picky as me. For whatever reason, a lot of the coffee shops don't stir the drinks after they pump flavorings in. The thicker syrups fall right to the bottom of the cup and stay there. So if I ever get one that doesn't taste quite right, stirring it up usually fixes it. (Tip alert!) Since we don't live in Springfield, we don't come to Mudhouse often. I know we've been here one other time like 2 years ago. And on our next visit (hopefully sooner than 2 years) we will come back to Mudhouse knowing a good latte will be waiting. read more

I really want to be in love with the Mudhouse - it has a great vibe, it seems fun, lots of my friends like to hang out there. But I can't get over the coffee. To me it always tastes super bitter. I am sure the mudpuddles, the grasshoppers, and the mudturtles are delicious. But I am vegan - and not a single one of their fun drinks apparently can be made vegan because the mix they use has milk in it. (according to one of the baristas, I've asked) Their chai is a mix - so not vegan either. :( I would say "Get with the 21st century" but unfortunately here in Springfield Mo - not a lot of places have to make things from scratch to be competitive. Man, this place is the bees knees. Mudhouse has been my Springfield staple. When I moved to Springfield I spread my coffee love amongst 8 or so coffee shops. Ultimately, Mudhouse fought and won my love. They're usually very quick with orders, and their baristas are super friendly. They all remember faces, names, and orders very well too. Props to Mudhouse for being so supportive of local artists and the community. My only beef - I wish they were still open until 12 like they used to be! Mudhouse Coffee is my absolute favorite coffee shop in Springfield. I have lived in Springfield for 3.5 years and Mudhouse is still the shop I'll always choose first. What makes Mudhouse special is the atmosphere, staff, and selection. The coffee shop is dimly light, which creates a warm, cozy feel. Local art is often displayed throughout the shop, which as an artist, is always awesome to see! Seating ranges from couches, small tables in the back meant for two, and larger round tables for larger parties. Mudhouse provides a great studying atmosphere! The Mudhouse staff really make the place special. They care about each guest and make sure everyone feels heard and validated. Anytime I visit the shop, I have a personal interaction with a staff member. It never feels forced, always genuine. Mudhouse's selection of drinks and food is also incredible. There is something for everyone between the traditional espresso drinks, iced beverages, and frozen options! My personal favorite is the Funky Monkey, a frozen chocolate and banana drink. It's always made consistently and I've never felt like one experience ordering the drink was better or worse than another. Every time I order the drink, I know I can expect something high quality. Mudhouse's larger menu board, which details the ingredients in each drink, makes it easy for non-coffee connoisseurs to feel welcomed. Overall, Mudhouse Coffee is one of a kind. Rather have mud. When I went to your location in Ozark I had a terrible experience. First off the parking and location is a pain in my rear. The shopping center is not made for a drive through or a bunch of business at once. Second the coffee is not what it is marketed up to be. I would say it's Blahh. Lastly I order two breakfast burritos and they tasted like nothing and the wait for them was horrendous. I would say the burp after the burritos was more flavorful then the actual burrito. read more

They have many milk options (including oat and coconut.) They have a large selection of decaf teas and coffee options. They also have vegan cookies and brownies, but they do contain nuts.
