4 star venue for being on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River which was amazing. Someone said the bugs would be bad but it wasn't bad at all, brought a bug spray wipe just incase. Maybe worse in other months. Incase you didn't know you have to take the little metro car or walk across a small bridge from poplar and front street. My friends just put mud island on their GPS and a man told us where to go along with others since past times they were allowed to walk over but haven't for a while. Once we got across to the venue we realized that they accepted cash only for drinks. They had domestic beers for 5, imported for 7, wine and coolers for 7, 3 for soda and water. There was one ATM right when you walk in and everyone was getting cash since it's not advertised on their website not was it on Yelp. So I'm making the PSA to bring cash unless you want to miss seeing your favorite bands. Luckily Gavin Degraw didn't come and I'd never heard of the other band they got to play before needtobreathe, so I wasn't super sad to miss. Also 2nd in line for the ATM which took 15-20 minutes a employee accidentally unplugged it from behind the bar and it said out of service. So we just went to find our seats. We had lower level seats and unfortunately our row was packed and was super tight. My friend and I squeezed into our seats and was super uncomfortable especially for how hot it was outside. After 3 songs we couldn't take it and went back to try the ATM again since we were super dehydrated. Finally got money out to get something and decided to sit a row lower since it was almost empty. No one said anything and got to see needtobreathe who are awesome live. So first half of the experience was very difficult but got better. Views were awesome and someone said there isn't a bad seat in the venue and they are correct!

I went here Sept 4 2013 to see carnival of madness we were center stage row 18 and it was awesome carnival of madness show lasted about 5 hrs temp was like 90 when it started I think at 5. There are alit of stairs. Long lines to get food. But its a great intimate venue to see a show I don't regret going the show was great and you can see no matter where u sit. But as always at all concerts there's always the person standing in front of you that your dodging back and forth to try to see the show that's the only thing I didn't like about show So cons are stairs slow food lines drink lines. Be ready to get some exercise. Bathrooms are mostly clean. Overall its a great place to see a show

Well, I hate doing two star reviews. This was definitely a night. I won't soon forget. When we…read morearrived, parking was horrible. The pay parking lot for Minglewood Hall was completely full. The pay lots all around minglewood hall were also full. We drove two blocks in each direction and was having trouble trying to find somewhere to park. We finally seen other people parking at a closed Baskin And Robbins, one street over. We didn't see any no parking signs. This was gonna be our only option. By the time we got parked and in line. It was getting very close to show time. There was a line out the door and it was moving very slow. They were having trouble scanning tickets. Their scanners were not working, so they were sending people to a window, to get paper tickets. We finally got in and seated. The show obviously started a little late. I have only been to Minglewood Hall one other time and my experience then was also less than stellar. The seating was just fold up chairs. They were so uncomfortable! A tallboy beer was $12! My son and I both love Brad Williams. I figured it would be a great to spend some time with him and see a good show. Although Brad Williams and his openers were great! This would turn out to be quite a bad night for us. When the show was over, we headed out to where we had parked. As we were getting close to the car, we seen about 20 other people. They were just standing aroung in the cold looking confused. At that point, we realized all the cars had been towed. In my opinion, this is why people don't come to Memphis for shows or anything. Way to much greed! The parking always sucks! Come to find out PB & J towing sits around the corner and waits on everyone to enter the show. Then they start towing people. If you do a quick search for them on here, you will see that they are very predatory in their practice. They have been sued and reprimanded by the BBB. I'm not sure how a place like this continues to do business in Memphis. That will be for another upcoming review. I know this is not completely Minglewood Hall's fault. But if you know, you don't have enough parking for the amount of sold tickets. You should try to work with your neighbors or warn people. I mean, come on, it was a Sunday night! The Baskin-Robbins was closed. We looked around and finally seen two very small signs on the other side of the lot that just said PB & J towing with a number. When you call the number, it just goes to a voicemail or disconnects. They are closed on Sundays! We had to Uber all the way back to Southaven, Mississippi. The Uber driver told us this is a every weekend thing. He picks people up all the time from PB&J towing in this area. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Minglewood Hall for anything. This ended up being a very expensive night!

Decent concert venue that provides enough space for a good amount of people and has good sound. A…read morelot better than the smaller venue in the same "plaza"/building though. I purchased "seated" tickets though and there were no seats, so I'm not sure what that's about. During big shows at least, they do charge for parking and it's like $20, which I think is a bit much, but whatever. We had 2 back to back concerts here in a single week and enjoyed it, but wish we could have had some sort of seating since we paid for "seated tickets" because my husband had a back injury so I paid extra for "seats".

My wife got us tickets to see Gary Owen because she knows how much I love seeing him. The show was absolutely great and she picked some very good seats. I did feel like he cut the show just a little short. There's always that one drunk person that wants to yell out from the crowd. I think it was starting to irritating. What can you say about the orpheum? That hasn't already been said. It's a very nice historical place. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars. Is because like everyone else, they take advantage of people on concessions. I realized back in the day. This is the way places made their money. It's a little different these days. They make plenty of money on the shows. My other small complaint is the seating. Although its way better than Minglewood Hall, the seats are just too close together. I'm a big fella, and it's just very uncomfortable. Overall, they put on great shows and the place is very nice. I definitely wouldn't let the small things stop you from going.
