This is truly a music venue jewel. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, the bar service was quick. I highly suggest upgrading to VIP if you want a seat, otherwise it is standing only.

Short drink lines, huge space for actual concert. It was pretty well ventilated, so it wasn't too hot inside the venue

This is my 3rd time visiting the Minglewood Hall and each time has been a delight. This is a multi-use venue. I visited once with a friend who was getting a piercing, once for a play (Down on Beale Street), and last night for a listening party. All events were in different areas. Last night's area was a bit of a surprise. I never knew of the room that it was hosted in, but it is nice. The venue is located in the heart of Midtown. It has adequate parking and space. Most concerts are stand-up so be prepared for that. Overall, the space is clean and the staff is friendly. Last night, I attended a Listening Party for Zii and it was wonderful! Check out the picture and video I posted.

Great Venue!!! I can't wait to see another show here! I saw Manson here and I was impressed by the sound in the place. It sounded great! The lighting was good too but that could have been the bands set up. The best thing that this place has going for it is the bathrooms! It was a sold out show and I didn't once have to wait to pee. Kudos to the brilliant people that designed this place! I hate having to wait to pee! There are only four toilets in the entire Mud Island Amphitheater! There also seemed to be the appropriate ratio of "bars to drunken people" and I didn't ever have to wait for more than a couple minutes to get refreshments. I like that! They had a little patio for the smoking kind and it was well used. I appreciate the fact that I did not have to breath in the smoke of others while there. I also appreciate the fact it was letting in some cooler air. On to my gripe... My only issue was it was about 55 degrees outside and 219 degrees inside. I know that when there are tons of people in a confined space it can get hot, but damn, it was HOT! See my video of Manson talking about how damn hot it was!

Cool venue for concerts in the heart of midtown. It's amazing how many artists have played here in its short time of existence. Loved the massive wall in the bar area that displays the posters of most (if not all) of the acts that have played there. The concert arena can be sized for large or small [intimate crowds]. Adequate and (seemingly) ever expanding parking. The building is huge and I love the East side entrance. Has that 'walking-the-city-streets- indoors' vibe. Could be developed some more. Maybe in time. Neon and lighting and the huge guitar in the parking lot are nice aesthetic touches. I've only attended a non musical event here so far but hope to attend a concert soon.

I came here for the Night Vale show and it was just so cool. I haven't been to other venues so I can't really compare it to anything. I was worried they would only sell beer but was pleasantly surprised that they sold a little bit of food. It takes a bit to cook it so you basically get your ticket then come back once it's been cooked, but that's fine with me. The fries were awesome though I couldn't finish the buffalo wings because they were just nope. The place itself was large, with nice lighting and sound system. The speakers looked huge and I was a tad nervous that I ended up sitting right in front of one of them because I have sensitive ears. But these didn't hurt me at all. A band opened up Night Vale and had some issues with their sound board but they still sounded pretty cool to me. I had a lot of fun listening to both them and the show I had come to see. It was such a fun experience with my friends and I would definitely come back here. Liked: - Fries Disliked: - Buffalo Wings

The venue is rather spacious and clean. It was hot though and there were hundreds of people there so air would have been nice. The drinks were affordable and gent also sold food. The check in process was rather efficient and moved swiftly. Ladies, be aware this place does not have any chairs for you to relax those pretty feet so come prepared with comfortable shoes. Other than that, I really enjoyed trap karaoke. I'm still in bed recovering from all the dancing

I have a love-hate relationship with Minglewood. The pros: 1) It seems the owners spared no expense in creating a sleek venue with all the bells and whistles. The lighting, sound, and technology are as good as any I've seen in any non-arena setting. And curtains are in place so the room can be enlarged/constricted based on ticket sales, which keeps smaller shows more intimate. As an understatement, the facility is impressive. 2) The shows always start and finish (11:00-ish?) at a reasonable hour for those aging rockers among us who want to catch a weeknight show without being a zombie for 2-3 days at work (I'm looking at you, Hi Tone). Not necessarily speaking from experience, of course, that's just what I hear... 3) MW is a modern retooling of a fantastic old building with tons of character, the kind that Memphis landlords have historically been too willing to doze. And they even kept those massive metal guitars that Strings N Things put up. High fives to someone! 4) Finally, I rarely notice bathrooms, but the dudes' room is larger than the ones at FedEx Forum and eerily clean. I bet the ladies' is even nicer. Of course, I'll concede that the prisoner-of-war-esque closets that serve as restrooms at some venues around town do have a certain charm, so this could be a pro or con, depending on your toilet tastes. See my con #1. The cons: 1) The place feels corporate to the core, from the slick lights to the meager beer selection. MW strikes me as contrived and sterile to the point of being soulless. Whereas the building oozes history and character, the performance space is all concrete and shimmer. I've had band crews echo my feelings. 2) I've (occasionally) seen Minglewood install barriers and security staff to push the crowd off the stage, which is absolutely ridiculous. Madonna is not playing here, folks. The stage is five feet tall, but you still need additional security measures? I'm personally insulted by that. 3) The ticket prices are prohibitively high - generally 2x-plus the price at the bar venues. I realize you probably sank mid-five figures into your lighting, but I will not pay these prices to check out unfamiliar bands on a whim. I've never seen a show at MW for less than $20, I don't think, and many are pushing $30 or more. Every band I've seen here, I probably own 60% of their catalog, and I'm invested in them emotionally and financially. 4) No food is available that I remember, certainly nothing I would consider buying - unlike other places. Summary: I appreciate the opportunities to see some great artists at MW that I can't imagine playing anywhere else in Memphis: Built to Spill, Interpol, St. Vincent, etc. Mid-size venues in Memphis are incredibly limited, and it seems that bands grow beyond the Hi Tone or New Daisy level and never come back unless they're booked at Beale St. Music Fest. Also, I'm absolutely convinced that the earlier starting times at the Hi Tone over the last year or so are directly attributable to Minglewood, and I'm thankful for that. At the same time, I'm one of those fans who wants to experience my favorite bands up close, and Minglewood is grossly lacking in intimacy. Of the bands that I've seen at multiple venues (e.g., Neko Case, Dinosaur Jr., MGMT, MUTEMATH), my experience is that the Minglewood shows invariably leave me achingly unfulfilled.

A really cool venue that hosts concerts and has a hookah lounge, a tattoo shop, a bar and even a workout session. I have seen Lauryn Hill and Marilyn Manson here! Both shows were great. The security has had to step in a few times and they do a very good job of handling problems or diffusing situations.

This is the best thing I got from minglewood hall to meet and chat with these guys

Event staff pleasant and efficient...no outside food or water allowed at this point...and they check! Seating currently is at half capacity...which is cool. Food trucks and 3 bars that i noticed (limited drink menu but covers the basics with one "speciality" drink)...event could benefit from a little more food truck variety in the cuisine-last night there were 3/4 "mexican variation"...nothing really "lite" plate... minimal if at all, veg or vegan. Soundcheck...we were "front row"...a little too close to really be a valid judge...it was great...but vocals sometimes got lost in the instruments from where i sat - not an accoustic critique at all so you know. Parking was the bomb...honestly, i was having heart palpitations driving over...been to these things before where you cannot get out sometimes until "everyone" leaves and its dark thirty and your car finally frees up...NOT the case here...beautifully executed...in and out was easy / breezy!! Music there has a hard stop at 9:30...its an enjoyable early summer evening of entertainment and fresh air...in "the garden". So plan ahead...Great Summer line-up, get your tickets today

Memphis Botanic Garden is already my top Memphis attraction (how strange is it we go to a city to…read moresee what it could look like without a city?) "Live at the Garden" is equally great! This was the first time attending a show. Dennis DeYoung of STYX fame (another Chicagoan, just gotta' say) put on an incredible show, made even better by the garden surroundings and fireworks. We purchased the "Lawn" tickets, a real bargain as large screens provide a great view. The sound system was high quality at comfortable levels. As you would expect, not a rowdy crowd. In my estimate most qualified for an AARP membership, not a bad thing though. These people are experts at living (you will likely see your dentist in the crowd for example) I always mocked whatever GM vehicle, road-tripping past me on the Interstate with a "hanging clothes bar" across the vacant back seat; then I got one, these people are GENIUSES! Apologies for the life experience tangent. Suuuuper laid back. Coolers full of snacks and adult beverages are welcome inside after an inspection. We went to Memphis' new Trader Joe's (finally) and loaded up on treats. If you have a cooler with wheels, or a wagon, bring it for the long walk. Folding chairs, blankets, insect repellent, sunscreen, some had little battery operated fans to stay cool. If you don't feel like carrying in food and drinks, vendors are on site to sell everything you need. Parking was free (check the maps re: the lot locations). TIP: Back into your parking space, makes it easier to get out, and farther is better, as you are nearer the exit. Hope to catch another show here! Approved!

It's a great environment and a good place to grab a drink after work or just because. One might think that would constitute 5 stars, but time after time I've been here, the service continues to be subpar. It is not difficult to be pleasant. Try harder. I always feel like I'm inconveniencing the gentleman bartender who works many of the nights. I'm sorry you have to do your job; mine sucks sometimes too, but I manage a smile and a polite demeanor. But seriously, go. It's worth it.

Holy moly! That view!…read more I attended the Special Olympics dinner here a year or two ago and was completely blown away by the view (especially at night...all those pretty lights!)...and yesterday (during the day) was no different (GORGEOUS!). I've heard rumors for awhile now that they a happy hour and it has been on my short list of things I want to try it. Well, yesterday I had a meeting in the bar area at 4 and decided to ring up a few friends after it was over to fully experience their happy hour. And honey, I'm so glad I did. Their house by the glass is only $4 and well liquor is $3. Tower Center, I think we're going to get along just fine (especially since my office is literally next door). But what really impressed me (besides that view), was the food! I am super picky about my cheese plates and not only was it pretty to look at, but it was yummy to eat (kinda important). And the chicken wings? Yes, please! They were so cute and tiny and delicious! I've actually never seen pretty chicken wings but somehow they managed to do it (no seriously, check out my photo). I also stole some bites of my dining partner's french fries and they were indeed just like I like 'em. And the pizza? Phenomenal! You've got to check out my food porn pics! They also rent out the venue space so take a peek around!
