Well my wife's 2016 Ford Explorer Limited decided to shutdown on her on toll way 130. She lost all power. Thankfully she was safe. We called our innaurance company to tow it to MTZ. MTZ had previously worked on her vehicle before. They do great work and in my own opinion they are honest than most places these days. Their mechanic talked with me in person. He told me the worse upfront, basically a new engine. The best hopeful news it was repairable, but they wouldn't know until they went through all the codes and take the engine apart. Basically at 165k+ miles the timing belt broke on the engine among other things. They also told me they recommended to replace the water pump before it went out since it was at the mileage. It a took about a couple of weeks for the entire repair. When I went to pick it up the day they said it was ready. The engine felt like new and to be honest it felt better than it did before. I am going to continue to use this shop for major mechanical needs. read more

Subject: Consistency Matters -- Disappointed After 7 Years of Loyalty I've been a loyal customer at MTZ Automotive for over 7 years, regularly bringing in my 4 cars and a motorcycle for inspections every year. As a Pflugerville resident and small business owner with 100+ employees, I've also referred dozens of others here based on the excellent service I once received. Unfortunately, my recent experience was frustrating. Over three days, I made multiple attempts to get a simple auto inspection done: Day 1: Wednesday - 6/4/2025 - Arrived at 1 PM, told the inspector would be arriving at 3 PM. Day 2: Thursday - 6/5/2025 - Called at 1 PM, told to come at 4 PM. On my way at 4:35 PM--was told they had already closed come later Day 3: Friday - 6/6/2025 - Called again at 1 PM, asked to come at 3 PM. I arrived at 3:20 PM, then told to return at 4 PM In total, I called seven times over three days, and each time was either given inconsistent information or asked to "come later" or no response. It was clear that customer service and scheduling have become unreliable. Out of frustration, I tried a nearby alternative--and the inspection was done immediately and professionally. Loyalty should be met with consistency and respect. Sadly, that seems to be missing here now. If you're facing delays, it may be time to explore better options. read more

Went to get my brake inspection today. Was greeted promptly and since I was a return customer my info was already in the system. The inspection was quick and painless. I bet I was in and out in under 20 minutes with my first vehicle and the second one was even wax even quicker. I will continue to recommend this business to everyone, they are always extremely helpful and prompt! The first time I came in I needed help with my oxygen sensors as well as getting an inspection done and they immediately squeezed me in to get it all checked out & fixed. Great service!! Went in with no appointments because it just happened that I got the day off. They worked on my car and fixed the problem. Always an excellent experience! They always give me a correct estimate, both for cost and time, and then they deliver. This time, my car had body work done elsewhere and afterwards I heard noises that I didn't remember from before. The body shop said it wasn't bc of their work but I wanted to make sure, so I took my car to MTZ. it was first thing in the morning so they were able to drive it, listen to the noise, and put it up right away. They determined the noise was from worn down brake pads and rotors that would not have been safe to drive with for much longer. I left it with them not knowing if they'd get the parts today or tomorrow, and then around 1pm, the work was all completed. Expectations exceeded! Today I went to this shop, one of which I have gone to many times in the past, for my car inspection. The man checking out my car came to notify me that one of the lights over my rear tag was burned out. He informed me that I would not be pulled over if I at least have one working, but for $10, he could replace it. I told him to go ahead and replace it for me. After he finished the inspection, he came inside to the give the secretary the form that said it passed. He looked at me and said, good news too, when I opened the trunk to replace the light, the light came back on so I didn't have to replace it. In this world we live in, it is hard to find someone who will be honest. This company could have gone on and replaced it and I would have never known, but instead he chose to be honest. If you have car needs, I surely would recommend your giving them your business. I truly believe God honors honesty, but it is a rare thing to find anymore so go show your support!! read more

If you don't know a lot about cars I would suggest you bring someone with you who does if you plan on buying from this lot. Went up there today for a car that I'm very familiar with; I had pretty much the exact same one for almost 2 years before it got totaled. I was told that the car was "like new" as far as the running condition goes. I knew it had some door dings and scratches on the body, but that was to be expected from a 20 year old used car. I won't go into full detail what was wrong with the body but it was definitely more than just a few dings. Anyways. We went to go turn on the car and right off the bat the battery was drained. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the passenger door was left open (since you had to close it a certain way or it wouldn't close) because apparently the car turned on just fine a few hours beforehand. The entire car's electrical system then began to surge and the car was idling real low and rough. Their solution was to replace the battery. The mechanic on site swapped in a new battery and the problem did not go away until the car was at operating temperature. This mechanic tried to tell me that "the vehicle's computer had to take time to recognize a new battery" to eliminate the power surge. That comment right there was where I lost trust in the work done to the car. On what planet does a 90's Toyota have to limit power so it could "recognize a new battery?" After that it was really hard to trust the work done to the car. Not to mention I had a 2 and a half hour drive home. I enjoyed the test drive up until the oil light came on. It wasn't a serious issue since it was just the cap that needed to be replaced but it added to my suspicions. Why did something like that get overlooked? What else was overlooked? If the car was mechanically new, oil pressure wouldn't have been an issue and the car wouldn't have had electrical problems (since cars need electricity to run properly). This was just a bad case of false advertising if you ask me. The man I spoke with was very nice and easy to get along with though. However I don't appreciate a 2 and a half hour drive for a vehicle that doesn't match its description. If they were 100% honest about everything wrong with the car instead of trying to blind me with the repairs, and was willing to negotiate a REASONABLE price instead of sticking with one big price, they might have gotten a better review and I would probably be typing this from inside my new project car.
