I really like Zara, but the last couple of visits my nails have cracked or chipped quickly and since the price is already higher (being a high-end salon), I was a little more open to trying a new spot this time around. Still recommend Zara though...but ain't nobody got time for that right now. I'll keep my extra coins. I got a gel manicure and classic pedicure for $65. Great price in my opinion. As a mom, I like that they share a parking lot with Walmart Neighborhood Market. Don't mind if I do schedule a grocery pick up after a nail appointment haha. It's also next door to Little Caeasar's. Might feel good and bring my kids back a pizza lol. It's been years since I had gel (was trying to avoid UV light), but gave it a try again since I'm Black and vitamin D is my friend. I chose a lighter, translucent pink, but now I'm thinking maybe I should have chosen a darker color or switch back to dip. We'll see how they hold up. Nonetheless, my nail tech was very nice, skilled and professional. She spoke English, which I appreciated. I didn't talk much on this visit, but I like the option of being able to lol. The salon was smaller and pretty quiet. There were only a few technicians, but my wait was less than 5 minutes as a walk in. I'm thinking that could be hit or miss in the future. They used a personal kit which I fancy and look for. Maybe that's new post-pandemic protocol for all salons? Really feelin' my pedicure and the color is giving Spring vibes. She cuuute lol. It turns out there was a step missed in the process after the application of the paraffin wax and so the oils brought off the nail polish. I understand things happen and the situation was amended and the second time we went it was a really lovely experience.

When I first arrived I was told there was a 30 minute wait. There were 3 women there but only two were working. The other was on her phone. I sat down and waited patiently. Finally it was my turn. A woman named Brenda was helping me. I went in for a full set with gel polish. She filed my nails down and sized them for the tips. She was having trouble with the nail glue and ending up clipping the top a bit more than I've normally seen it done. It still wasn't coming out. She then looked at it and squeezed a little too hard. Glue shot up, got in both her eyes, and on my phone screen. I felt terrible. This woman was in a lot of pain! I continued to sit in the chair assuming someone else would help me (like the girl on her phone). I sat there for a good 15 minutes before the other woman had me move and sit at her station. Kim, ended up doing my nails and did a phenomenal job. She apologized for the wait repeatedly and struck up conversation. I needed my nails short but not too short and she got them perfect. I paid $30 and it included a scrub exfoliation, a gel massage from the calves down, an oil/ rock massage with hot towel treatment and filing of the heels as part of the pedicure. Despite covid restrictions (we were both wearing masks though) there was no separator between myself and the pedicurist. The only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because the pedicurist was 35 mins late. I will be returning barring them nit being shut down due to covid city regulations.

I used Yelp to find places and the first place I walked in to Ohanas Nail and Spa and it was completely booked. My ride had taken off so I was sitting there trying to figure out another place to go. One of the employees said there was another place called Divas, which was close by. They called on my behalf AND the owner of Ohana's offered me a ride. It turned out she was the mother of owner of Divas. Not only did they help me out but I got a 10.00 discount. I arrived at Divas and Paloma was friendly, welcoming and did a fantastic job!! I loved the atmosphere and was so grateful. I'll definitely be back this time I'll call ahead. lol In Albuquerque its pretty to do walk-ins but in fairness to the first place I went it was Saturday at noon. But Divas was fantastic.
