We visited on a recent Friday night after doing some errands in the area. It's a beautiful layout with the backyard outdoors area setup around a pond with outdoor tables. We arrived at 6p to an average evening crowd and were quoted 30 minutes to get a table. It ended up taking 60 minutes. Further, we then waited about 15-20 minutes for a server to greet us. Multiple times we were told about issues with the kitchen and how everyone was having to slow service and tables because the kitchen couldn't handle it. We looked around and by the time we sat down after 7p half the restaurant was empty! We finally got (some) of our food around 8p which was a bizarre mix of appetizers and entrees that were very lukewarm. The presentation and concept is great and we really enjoyed the beers. However, the SERVICE and operational management of this place was running like a restaurant just opened last week or something out of 'Bar Rescue'. Not sure we would want to go back... read more

Mt. Carmel Brewing Company has been around for 20 years! With so many breweries coming (and now going) in Cincinnati, it's worth noting that Mt. Carmel is still doing their thing and doing it well. My wife and I stopped in for lunch recently. Their outdoor space is better than ever, and it's a great place for a meal or to hang out over a couple of pints. For lunch, I enjoyed the Cincy Hot Sandwich, a hand-breaded fried chicken breast topped with their signature HOT Denzel wing sauce, country-style slaw, and blue cheese dressing ($14). The sauce had a pretty good amount of heat, but the slaw and blue cheese tamed it down a bit. Overall, a really solid sandwich. My wife and I also split the G.O.A.T. salad ($11 full / $6.50 half). This combination features spinach, goat cheese, red onions, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and candied walnuts, accompanied by a house-made balsamic dressing. This was a great salad, highly recommended! My wife enjoyed the carnitas tacos ($13 for 2). The house-braised pork shoulder is super tender and comes topped with grilled jalapenos, queso fresco, pico de gallo, and salsa verde. Made a reservation for a party of 10 Saturday after the 4th of July. Seated right away, service was outstanding (Drew was great along with the rest of the staff). Good beers and excellent wings. Several ordered the bean burger and said it was homemade ad excellent. Their dry rub wings are really good, fried pickles and truffle fries excellent. The staff were all cleaning windows, floors and the place is immaculate. The restaurant is one of our favorites, we enjoy sitting outside -when it's not so hot! Ambience is the best. read more

This was my first time here. The building is so quaint looking. I'm not a beer drinker however other friend were and they enjoyed the selection. I tried ordering the pumpkin martini, but they were out of pumpkin purée. So that was a bummer. I wanted to try the shrimp roll but they were out of shrimp. So two strikes right off the bat. I ended up getting the mango habanero chicken wings and onion petals. Both were amazing. The wings were big and meaty. Perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The onion petals were excellent. They were breaded with a dry rub and had such great flavor. The portion size was great too. Plenty to share and take home for later. The beef brisket sandwich was great. Cooked wonderfully. Great flavor. The service was ok. It could be a little slow at times. I want to come back for the brunch and also in the spring to enjoy the outdoor area. This has been one of my favorite spots in the area. I love the creative drinks, the goat cheese crostini is fantastic. The fish and chips USED to be my very favorite. I told my friends it's the best, until last week...they have changed it. It tastes worse than Gortons frozen fish! I told the server, he brought another one just the same! This fish is just awful! My family visited this place on a Friday night after recently moving to the area and found it to be packed. We took that as a good sign and accepted the 40 minute wait as you can buy drinks and appetizers at the bar while you wait on a table. My group all got a beer (my take home IPA was very good), and an order of pretzel sticks and sat down outside. The sticks came quickly and were awesome! They were fresh, hot, and paired great with that homemade beer cheese. Pretty much as we were finishing our beers, we were seated and ordered immediately. The food took a bit longer than the appetizer, but everything came out hot! Fair warning, the Nashville hot chicken is very spicy, as I watched my partner sweat through every bite. He said it was good, but it definitely left his mouth on fire. I got the pterodactyl wings, which were a great size and well done. Everything was presented nicely as well. We cannot wait to come back many times this summer, as the place has great outdoor seating and many more food options to try. Only hope is that we can afford it, as the drinks are not cheap and everything on the menu comes a la carte. read more

I hadn't been here in a long time, and heard they recently started serving food, so I thought this was a great excuse to go back. I mentioned it to a co-worker and he was definitely up for it for lunch. Though, overall, in the end, we thought it was good but could've been better. We stopped by on a Thursday around noon. The place wasn't super busy and definitely had lots of seating both inside and outside. We were greeted right away by a very friendly hostess/server and sat near the bar area. Our server was with us very quickly and we asked her advice on starters. She made a few recommendations and we went with the fried pickle slices. We hardly waited long before they were ready and they were honestly some of the better fried pickles I've ever had. As for our mains, I decided on the brisket tacos, while my co-worker had the GOAT burger with seasoned fries. Again, we didn't wait long before everything was ready. My tacos were pretty loaded, but the flavor of the brisket could've been a bit better. I felt like it was overwhelmed but everything else on the taco. My co-worker thought his burger could've used a bit more seasoning though he really liked the goat cheese. Yeah, I did think about getting a couple brews, but we were on the clock... So I did anyway and had the Bop Bop & Bill's Pils. Very solid pilsner in my opinion. All in all, this was an fair experience. The service was definitely great, the beer still tasty, but the food could use a boost. Maybe I'll give it another shot sometime, most likely with my lady, but we'll see. read more

Was with a party of 17 people on Sunday April 19th. It took an hour to get our food while some at the table received their food before us as we watched them eat. I approached the waiter inside the restaurant to ask much longer the food would take & his response to me was I'm doing the best that I can & he repeated the phrase at least 5 times in a row to me instead just apologizing for the wait. Then at check out the same waiter told me how much the bill was. He said it was 74.68. I told him I was giving him cash for the tip. He ran the card through a hand held machine. I gave him 15.00 cash for the tip & he handed me the hand held machine to sign. I signed it & asked for a receipt. He said he needed to go to bar to get it. Well, he never came back to the table. We were on a time crunch since we had to wait so long for our food so we left. Everything about this waiter seemed shady & he acted so immature & unprofessional. I contacted my credit card company today & the charge on my credit card was 92.68. So an additional 18.00 was added automatically for a tip. The waiter never explained any of that to me. Then not returning with the receipt was another red flag. I'm now being told that there is somewhere on this hand held machine where you have to decline adding a tip but the shady waiter did not tell me that. So the waiter got a 33.00 tip on a 74.68 bill. This establishment needs to train their staff to not mislead their paying customers. The restaurant is closed on Mondays but will be contacting them tomorrow for a refund of that additional 18.00 tip! Buyer Beware!!!!!!! read more

I had a little time to kill before a holiday party down the street, so I wanted to check out one of the local breweries while I was in town. This place was SO busy on a Friday night! A few of comments about the outside of he building: It's hard to find in the dark from the street. You feel like you're in a residential area and the building looks like a large house, but the parking lot gives away that it's not a residence. The sign is not terribly visible in the dark either. I passed it once before I realized I had driven past it. The parking lot out front is pretty small for how many people they seem to pack in there. The parking lot was absolutely full. However, if you drive around back to the left of the building, there's more parking down what feels like a long driveway with many many parking spots. I had to park pretty far away. I had a good luck at the "backyard" while walking up from where I parked. I am sure that would be nice in the warmer months of Ohio, but not on this night in December. So I headed right inside. I was glad to find a spot at the bar and I wasn't in there very long, which is actually a compliment. I didn't have much time; I just wanted a beer and an appetizer. The bartender was very attentive and friendly on his busy Friday night. He was working hard, but stayed very positive back there, making everyone feel welcome and served up. I went with a porter due to the time of year and it was pretty good. I hesitantly ordered the pretzel appetizer- I knew I'd like them, just wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait, and again, I was on limited time. But hey, they were out in about 10 minutes. I ate them at a good place, drank my beer in a relaxed manner, yet I was still out of there within about 25 minutes from the time I walked in! I loved seeing the variety of people- families, singles, friends, couples, etc. enjoying dinner there too. Waitstaff and food was over the top. We had a party of three for lunch. The waitress was really good and made sure we had what we needed. She was a pleasure. Amazing food! The tomato caprese bruschetta had a great blend of tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette to offer a sweeter taste to the perfectly toasted bread. However, the Fried Goat Cheese with Crostini (not pictured) arguably had a better mesh of tastes due to the sweetness of the honey and savor in the goat cheese. Both were great appetizers! The Cincy Hot Sandwich had the greatest taste of any buffalo sauce I've ever had in a sandwich. The Denzel Wing Sauce is quite spicy (be aware!), but it's followed by a sweet, distinct pickle-ish taste that follows the buffalo sauce so well. Every bite felt brand new! The service here was absolutely amazing. Generous pours, sweet staff, beautiful setting. Couldn't get any better than this. This right here is a pretty cute neighborhood establishment. I'm not from here so to find a really cool brewpub within surrounding homes is kind of neat. The building is pretty cool and the interior had a nice vibe. We came here the day before Thanksgiving and it was poppin' up in here. My husband and I sat at the bar since the other tables were full - NBD - we can order food at the bar nonetheless. They have a decent amount of food options which is nice. My ordered the brisket nachos and they were pretty good- the brisket had good flavors. I would recommend they have an option to add avocado on there - that was be amazing. My husband ordered the Mt. 9/6/24. Today my fiancée became my wife. As we are about 40 years older than the average couple getting married these days we had a small wedding and post ceremony celebration. We chose Mt Carmel as the venue for our gathering. The entire meal ( we ordered off menu) was executed flawlessly. Our server, Kelly, did a wonderful job and was also the manager that handled our reservation several months ago. Like every other time we have visited this brewery, the service, atmosphere, and food was perfect. This place is busy. It is a clean and inviting spot and I know they thrive on repeat business. The menu has something for everyone. We have dined here many times since moving to the area several years ago. We have never left disappointed. If you have never been here please go visit. It is a group that truly appreciates your patronage and that becomes evident as soon as you enter the front door. We will return often! read more

While the outdoor area is pet friendly (always a plus for us) we found the service and food to be mediocre. You f you enter from the back parking lot there is no signage about seating (you have to go inside to request an outdoor table and the wait on weekends is ridiculous) . Lots of open tables but clearly understaffed. The drink selection is just ok. And, every food item was so salty we couldn't eat it without wiping off the salt. Unfortunately the sandwiches proved to be completely inedible. The pretzels and fries were iffy as we literally wiped table salt off them. Our waiter only acknowledged us when we sat down and was irritated we asked to order right then because we'd been waiting so long. Random other people brought our food, no one asked if we'd like drink refills and we had to go inside to ask for napkins and silverware. Today we tried the JUMBO wings (bone in) and the Cincy Hot Sandwich. For the price, the wings were smaller than expected and certainly not jumbo. However, the sauce Denzel and Carolina Gold (split 5 wings each) was fantastic. So much so Nic got the sandwich pictured in the photo. This sandwich was in his words "the best chicken sandwich he's had". Insanely bold statement coming from this man. Certainly a hot aftertaste but deliciously tasty and plenty of chicken with balanced toppings. Great value for $14 (BUT probs should come with fries and recommend ranch). Very busy restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Our first time here. We got the last low table. Too cool to eat outside but the grounds looked great. My husband got the fish and chips and I got the BBQ sandwich. I was disappointed that the sandwich didn't come with any side. Fourteen dollars for just a sandwich seemed incomplete. I stopped in for a late dinner on a weeknight. Taylor was running the bar and gave me a quick rundown of the menu and made sure my order got in before the kitchen closed. I had the loaded fries with pulled pork and the Amber Ale. Both were delicious. Taylor was friendly and very knowledgeable about the tap selection. She also gave me a quick history of the brewery and the area (since I'm from out of town). Goodness. We have loved this restaurant and the staff and have enjoyed eating here for years. The sad reality is, it has turned into an overpriced, over rated and underwhelming place. We had our worst meal to date today, which will finally be our last. Since the fire last year, we have continued our loyal support. The place is just not the same, the employees are not as nice or helpful and we just don't enjoy our visits anymore. I attempted to book a private event in April, no one bothered to return my message. All voicemail boxes are full and messages are not returned. I would rather spend my hard earned money somewhere it is appreciated, which is not here. Our sever actually said (after I still tipped 20%) maybe we can do a better job next time. I said what you don't realize, there won't be a next time. If I were Kathleen, I would be ashamed as she has let go of servers that actually cared about the customers experience. P.S. charging an extra .50 for pickles and .50 for lettuce on a cheeseburger that already cost $10 is absurd.
