She was thinking about getting a new car when my Cousin took it to her mechanic in SLC. There was no coolant in the radiator. A simple fix was all the car needed. The Mechanic in SLC said this is a common practice among places. They check the AC when it blows hot they always recommend a new Compressor without looking at anything else. This is a warning for all and anyone who reads this. Always check your coolant level. Shame on you guys for trying to bilk an older helpless lady. I'm a firm believer in Karma so watch out. My husband dropped it off and told them to take their time, working on it between other jobs. My husband called in frequently and talked with the mechanic, my husband is very knowledgeable...long story short they found the problem by a fluke when they were going to do something different and bypass the normal route to get the air conditioner to work. We were certainly happy the issue was found and we were so surprised at how reasonable our bill was. I was Recommended to go to one of the Master AutoTechs by several people here in town{Ogden}. I instead checked the reviews and saw that Paskett Auto had Way More History and Great Reviews online. So I went with them Instead Before I took it there, I brought my car to Autozone there on Riverdale to get their diagnostic test, and then brought the Print Outs to Paskett Auto, and handed it to them. The Nice Lady, Brenda said not to worry, as their guys will do their own tests and resolve the Check-Engine Light issue from there. The guys come back from the garage, and recommended I have them Replace all the Spark Plugs and Coils, and since I don't like to Procrastinate, I just told them, ok, I'll go with it all now then just to get it over with. After the Job was Done, the guy behind the Counter{my memory with names are so bad sometimes, I'm sorry} told me that those parts come with warranty, and that if any issues occur, be sure to come back. Hey! The Check-Engine Light was gone, and it seems that everything is ok! ~ 2 Days Later, my Check-Engine Light comes right back on, and this sucks because it's Thanksgiving Day! No shop is going to be open, but Paskett Auto did promise that Warranty with the parts, And Sadly, I'm Not Swimming In Money, so my Best Bet would be to just go Back to them. Is this even a good idea? From Thanksgiving day, the Friday after, and the Weekend, they're closed those 4 days... which is Understandable, It's a Holiday Weekend.. I drove my car back to Autozone there on Riverdale Rd on Thanksgiving{Surprisingly they Were Open} because I don't like to procrastinate ~ to see what the problem is This Time, and it's the same exact Issues, the Same Cylinders showing that they're Misfiring! The fellas there told me that the shop I took it to could have just Said they switched out all the coils and spark plugs, but instead, just left a few old ones, or not have done it at all. I hope they're wrong. I think from this lesson, Now On, I'm going to stick to what the locals recommend{as I'm new to this city Ogden}, rather than try and go forward just based off of my Own research. Sucks because I'm not making that much money at this time, and I get Gypped like this. Life has many curveballs that's for sure. It's a 2015 Volvo, nothing super fancy. It's Also not in terrible shape, so I'm grateful, but from the indicator, it Needs to be worked on... again, for the Same Issue. So I decided to wait until the next day Paskett Auto Opens, December 1st, and peacefully enough, I didn't even raise my voice or lash out on the phone after this reoccurrence happened, proof can be shown to them on their end~ if you call them, the operator message before the dial sound even Begin says "This Call will be recorded for Quality Assurance", they'll have proof That I stayed calm and collected during the quick conversation, letting her know my Engine-Check Light Came back On 2 days later after their shop visit, And I respectfully told them that I'll call them back after work. I had to be at work at 8am Monday Morning, the Monday right after that 4-day weekend, so I called the Paskett Auto Number Earlier Than their Opening Time [7:55am], and to my Surprise Brenda Picked up the Phone! My Plan was to just leave a voicemail and ask for a Scheduled Time to possibly swing the car by to hopefully get this situation resolved? That Repair was Not a Cheap Fix. I just told her my situation instead because she Did pick up, but I had to Work in 5 Minutes, so I told her I'll Call them again once I get off of work, and rushed into the clock-in room. When I got off work I did call, but instead, after each call attempt the Hang-Up Tone Went Off after ringing for a short time. I called the number a little more spaced apart just to see if maybe they were just too busy at the moment, or if all the people at the desk might be in the restroom. The phone just rang for Less than a minute before the Hang Up Tone/Disconnected Alarm-sounding tone went off. What the heck? After This Behavior, there's No Way I can trust them now! My goal was to at least ask them for the next possible time I can swing my car around, especially with the problem Not fixed, and with the Amount I payed That Day After Their Own Diagnosis and Repair Solution. This is just it, I can't figure out why they won't pick back up, and after that 5-Call Attempt becoming Hang-Ups, I don't think I can even trust this business again, even with All their Wonderful Reviews! What the heck?? If you're Not From around here, or look very young, I'm guessing it's Just Safer or just Smarter to stay away from this business, and maybe check out a Master Autozone like I was recommended here several times beforehand. We were buying a jeep from Darren Bideaux nearby. They were taking it to hollys to do the safety and emissions. We set up to have the shop look over the vehicle to make sure it was mechanically sound. We specifically wanted the motor mounts checked because we thought they might be broken, so we discussed this with the shop ahead of time. They called my husband and said the jeep was great and had nothing wrong with it. It had a shake when put in gear so we thought for sure the motor mounts might be shot. He asked if the motor mounts were bad, they said nope it looks perfect and was super clean. He asked if the oil cooler was in good working order because it was common for them not to be, they said yes it looks great! They said we aren't going to charge you the diagnostics fee because we did safety and emissions. That should have been our big red flag on the situation but we chalked it up to a good, reputable shop like we were told. We're an hour and a half away so we just trusted it. Fast forward to buying it the next day, taking it home and to our trusted mechanic. The motor mounts were broken, oil cooler was leaking all over the place and the rear brakes should have never passed safety. My husband called them to talk about the findings and they wouldn't even have a conversation.
