I brought my vehicle in to a family run mechanic expecting honest and fair priced service. What I received was an absolute disaster. They never took full contact information incase one of the methods (i.e. cell phone) was not able to reach me, forcing the vehicle to stay in their lot overnight (a primary source of transportation for me). Then, when I got the vehicle back, they finished the work I hired them to do (not saving any money), plus three new major issues they caused. CV Joint shredded and grease everywhere in the wheel well (+ $600 fix at another mechanic and another day without the vehicle). They never bolted down the stabilizing bar and I had to hunt for new bolts. Lastly, the driver wheel well now makes noises that we have not diagnosed yet. They are near a Air Force Base, where military families would like take their vehicles. These families cannot afford this type of extra work for no reason. I would highly recommend never taking it this mechanic. read more

I went in to get an oil change and had a coupon for an Oil Change, lube, and filter for $35.95, I expected to pay a bit more but was charged $115. They told me just for the oil alone it cost $80+, I looked online and it's only $30. I'm not sure if they used something extra like extra mileage or what but that's clearly not what I needed. They also didn't have the oil in the shop so I had to wait for someone to bring it to the shop. They are super super friendly people and have conversations with you which is lovely but if I knew it would be $115 and I could have had it done for only around $40-$50 I would. read more

Do not EVER come to this shitty place. The owner is a totally asshole, along with all his employee. they will treat you like shit thinking you'll just chop it up and give in a quick laugh. I've had to take several vehicles down now to get emissions and safety done, and every time I have had the displeasure to interact with this group, it has been disgusting service. when you pull up to the building no One will come to greet you, instead they will belittle you acting like you should've known to just roll up to a stall that already has a vehicle in it, then make you do all the lighting checks and wipers, and if something is wrong they will call your car a "piece of shit" and have you take it away. The owner also extremely rude to you if you didnt "Check yourself" if the vehicle had lights out or any issues that would make it fail safety. upon waiting in the lobby for them to finish the vehicle, I was on my phone and the owner THREW the paper work into my face and told me it was ready to go. Not professional!! My dad was helping fix my brother's car and not having success so they took it in there for a diagnosis. It was diagnosed as a bad timing chain and related parts, and they agreed to have King's auto repair it, but $700 later the car still wouldn't start! They gave a new diagnosis and costly estimate for repair but still required the first bill to be paid --even though it did nothing to fix the problem, and they weren't very kind about their communication either. So we took it out of their shop to fix ourselves. They probably do fine with simple repairs but if there's very much of a problem this is not the shop to take it to. read more

Don't take anything needing much or any unusual repair (s) to King's First Stop. This is a great shop for easy simple repairs. But if your vehicle is not of a main stream, or of a normal type. They are NOT well versed on a more unusual (foreign) vehicles or any type of complex problems (that was not the case on this repair was no complex). We took it to them with a simple low coolant light issue on the car. After 3 times of them saying "It was fixed" on the 4 time we had to tow it back to them. After listening to their reasoning and rhetoric, we towed it elsewhere. Like the say in baseball with 3 strikes your out. They have ruined the car by telling us it was fixed each time. So we drove it and the light comes on yet again. This car is known to be an expensive, very strong, well engineered and made engine in the industry. King's First Stop Auto is NOT familiar with foreign expensive cars and any complex problems (this problem was not complex). A simple google search could have helped them, so we did it for them. King's is very good shop for simple well know issue, by their staff for easy repairs. Now it would cost us about $20K to fix the car now. It's needing a new engine. But the cars is only worth about $17K. Just beware of their limitations. /rk read more

I was in to get my emissions, safety inspection, and registration done for the year. I walked in and had to wait for 10 minutes before I was even approached by anyone, I couldn't even see any of the employees in the shop. Well thats all good and well so I'm greeted finally and they get started, I'm fine waiting in the lobby until the owner comes in, doesn't even say hi or ask if I've been helped. For all he knew I hadn't been yet. Another customer walks in, he seemed friendly with the owner, and they strike up a casual conversation trash talking gays and crossdressers. Are you kidding me?! They don't know me, they don't know that I'm gay, but who in their right mind talks like that in front of a stranger while running a business?! As a gay man I was extremely reluctant to give him my money. I won't be returning and the worst part is I've been supporting this business as long as I've been a vehicle owner. Hopefully things have changed for this business but in 2010 I went there to get my old military truck safety inspected as King's First Stop Auto was listed as a Davis County certified "Heavy" inspector (which was required for my truck). I would give this review 1-star but since my review is old, I gave them the benefit of doubt and added a 2nd star. I called, set up an appointment right at 8am when they opened. Keep in mind that I needed to take time-off from work to do this. When I show up I'm informed that the fellow who does the safety inspections won't be in for 30 minutes, but actually he eventually rolls in at about 8:45am. By 9 am he finally comes to me and tells me to pull my truck around to the bay door. It's obvious that the guy didn't know anything about the old military truck, which I don't fault him for, but I do fault him for trying to tell me that it didn't have front brakes. I suppose a vehicle might not have brakes on the front if it hadn't been made in oh, I don't know, the last ONE HUNDRED YEARS. He also told me he'd need to break the seals on the real duals to check the drum brakes (which is true if you want to look inside the brake drum) (there are other approved methods to pass the brake check without breaking hub seals, also, there are inspection ports on every drum where you can see the brake pads). But King's First Stop Auto would charge me over $160.00 for parts (replacing the seal) and shop time. This would be required every year for a stupid state safety check that Utah law has set a maximum charge for trucks to be no more than $20.00? http://publicsafety.utah.gov/highwaypatrol/safetyinspections/safetyinspection.html I declined their "service" and left disgusted at the time (vacation time!) that they wasted and wondering how any mechanic could look at an axle and claim it doesn't have brakes when even the brake line is plain as day. read more

I had a leak in my AC unit, so after a really hot day I took my car in for diagnostics to find out what was wrong. The shop was good to get me in quick and hook my car up to the machine. After an hour the mechanic (term used loosely) came in and told me he had filled it with refrigerant and it was working (remember, I told him it had a leak). It was working, but after the 2 mile drive home, and the 10 minutes in the garage, it wasn't working. My garage was filled with a chemical cloud of refrigerant. The following morning I took the car back, and a different condescending, mechanic tried to convince me I had actually received quite a deal, and that I could leave the car to be evaluated at an hourly rate, "but it may take awhile to figure it out". I suppose, because I'm a woman, he thought I would think it was a great idea!! I was told any shop would charge me much more just to look at it.. which is false! I did take it to another shop, the evaluation was free, and done within minutes. I paid $70 for a service at Kings First Stop that didn't nothing for me. I will never take my car to Kings First Stop Auto again. I will also do what I can to make sure everyone I know, knows what type of business this shop does!!
