My daughter went in for an oil change, Grease Monkey charged her for an extra quart. The next day…read moreshe was complaining her car was blowing white smoke when starting. Googled the issue and top hit was oil overfilled. Checked the oil level and it was 1/3 of the way up the stick or about 5 inches . I took it back and they drained the extra out saying some cars take more even for the same engine which was puzzling. Took home checked the level and it was still 1/5 up the stick or 2 inches. Took it back again and they redid the oil change showing me the level before I left. No more smoking. Fast forward two weeks, my son in law took his Audi A3 for an oil change to the same Grease Monkey in Clinton. I told him to tell them if his car needs more than 5 quarts which is the base price to say we'll add the rest at home. The base price for full synthetic was $89. When they finished and he went to pay they asked for $135. They said they used upgraded oil, filter, and whatever else. Nothing was told to him prior for the upsell. They just did the work. This Grease Monkey has been our go to up to this point. My daughter played soccer with the owner's granddaughter so I'm adding this review in hopes they see this and can make some policy or personnel changes. Until then I'll take my business elsewhere.

Fast forward to I cannot find my emissions paper. I called MULTIPLE times to ask if they could reprint it or what I needed to do. Called someone more educated in the subject, and they said it would be on file with the state. Okay, cool! I'll just register my car then! It would not pull up. It was like I never had any emissions done. A week or so goes by, and I finally get ahold of a woman at the business. She tells me the test was only good for a week. A week???? When I looked it up online, it told me tests are good generally for a couple months. I'm unsure of the actual validity of this, but if this test was truly only good for a week, I wish they would have informed me so I wasn't out so much money. I got a deal, sure, but I ended up having to pay WAY more to have it done somewhere else. I ended up finding a wonderful shop near me, so I'll stick with this new business. Just disappointed in the whole experience. The lack of communication needs to be addressed, that could have solved problems on everyones end.

We were buying a jeep from Darren Bideaux nearby. They were taking it to hollys to do the safety and emissions. We set up to have the shop look over the vehicle to make sure it was mechanically sound. We specifically wanted the motor mounts checked because we thought they might be broken, so we discussed this with the shop ahead of time. They called my husband and said the jeep was great and had nothing wrong with it. It had a shake when put in gear so we thought for sure the motor mounts might be shot. He asked if the motor mounts were bad, they said nope it looks perfect and was super clean. He asked if the oil cooler was in good working order because it was common for them not to be, they said yes it looks great! They said we aren't going to charge you the diagnostics fee because we did safety and emissions. That should have been our big red flag on the situation but we chalked it up to a good, reputable shop like we were told. We're an hour and a half away so we just trusted it. Fast forward to buying it the next day, taking it home and to our trusted mechanic. The motor mounts were broken, oil cooler was leaking all over the place and the rear brakes should have never passed safety. My husband called them to talk about the findings and they wouldn't even have a conversation. Had they charged us and we had a paper trail we could have gone to small claims court but they knew what they were doing. Stay away! Photos from our mechanic included.
