M Ride San Francisco did an amazing job transporting us in their luxury shuttle. Thanks.

Please be ready to board this bus with exact change or a loaded Clipper Card. This is my only advice when getting on a route like the 30X. This route may be busy, but the ride is well worth it. With this route also inching through rush hour traffic, it certainly will not be any faster. Unlike the regular 30, buses are always clean especially when it operates this route. I certainly admit to that because we all want a nice clean ride. I know what some of you are thinking of. Yes, this route is operated on 60' buses. So there is no need to feel worried about crowded buses. If you are looking for a faster way to get between Financial District and Marina District, 30X Marina Express is the solution. I do want to add how one reviewer brought up a very good point. It would be nice if this route had additional service to and from Marina/Financial Districts. Overall, I like this route for the fact of clean buses and polite passengers. Advantages: - last bus out of the financial district is 7pm** - this route uses 60' buses - once again, clean buses* *Just really loving this part. **Monday - Friday -- Part of this is because some people get off work a little after 6pm. -- People complained that 40' buses are not very accommodating. -- Yes, more seating and standing room available since this route is operating on 60' buses. Thank you MUNI for making these changes.

I'm talking about the Bonobos and JCrew models that overcrowd it. The dirty 30 is a Marina staple and goddamn icon. You haven't lived until you've shoved yourself into the bus at Laguna and apologetically 'smized' at that hottie next to you. At any given time you'll overhear girls planning their soul cycle/blue barn adventures that evening, men (or should I say Eskimo brothers?) rocking their Patagonia vests and AirPods, and at least 3 good boys. Also a hard bargain at $2.75 a pop (I'm looking at you Chariot loyalists). A 30x morning is a journey that makes you proud of having a clipper card balance of greater than $20. Welcome to the new age of muni - honestly still wondering why I haven't changed my league profile to say "30X" as the neighborhood.

It's not possible! Folks, it simply doesn't get better than the 1BX if you can take advantage of this glorious route that starts in Laurel Heights and extends to the Embarcadero every weekday. Perhaps I'm one of the lucky ones, because when I'm picked up at the Fillmore/California stop, this bus line literally doesn't have another stop until it comes to rest about 1/4 mile away from the front door of my office. It's as though the public transportation brass devised a way to get me from Point-A to Point-B in the fastest, most efficient way possible, and to those at the helm of this operation, I salute you. Inbound: I get on at California and Fillmore, which is the last stop before the FiDi, and find that 7 am - 7:30 am is the optimal time to hop on. If, however, you get on after Divisadero and after 8 am, hope that the person next to you smells nice since you will practically be hugging them for the rest of the ride (on the bright side though, it only takes about 10 minutes from Fillmore and California to Bush and Sansome). But that's IF you get on to begin with. More often than not, the driver will not stop at Cal/Fillmore, OR, will open front doors only, allowing a few lucky people to cram in. Next Muini is pretty accurate though early in the morning: if the bus in front of you is packed like a sardine tin, and the next bus is "arriving" in 4 minutes, just wait. It will likely not be crowded. Outbound: "Patience is a virtue." Repeat as necessary. Arrival is unpredictable and NextMuni is useless. The bus gets super crowded. I'd rather take this line to Pac Heights than the 1, 2 or the 3 though since I won't have to play the "how many stops can we blow through without stopping" game.

For those who take BART, it's very convenient as it has stops close to Montgomery and Embarcadero stations, and it also passes through Union Square and Japantown. It was hardly ever crowded during morning commute hours, although in the afternoons from 3pm onwards it would fill up. I do think this is one of the safer and cleaner (less smelly) MUNI lines and most of the drivers weren't mean; many would actually greet me after I became a regular (this is what the 1 star is for). But I HAVE seen passengers get into arguments and yell at each other and crazies while on the bus. I also had one EXTREMELY traumatizing encounter on this line that I had to call and report to police. Ever since that happened, I stopped taking MUNI and I continue to try to avoid it at all costs. Oh, and using the NextMUNI website has proven to be unreliable sometimes, it would say a bus is coming and then it would NEVER show up...I waited nearly an hour for a bus to arrive before. MUNI=last resort and just plain dirty, shady, and a disappointment to a renowned city like San Francisco. If you MUST take it, keep your wits about you...and may your commute be less miserable than mine were when I was on MUNI.

I was told before that they've had major problems (i.e. not reading the card properly, getting de-magnetized, etc.). I also thought that I wouldn't be able to purchase the high-value tickets. However, I was convinced by Maria D. (http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=7EXWwja2wdSYiCqhR3cTqQ) to finally sign up. I haven't had any problems with it so "those" people were wrong. I find it very convient and it saves constantly buying tickets. It's great for the everyday commuter or even the occassional rider. Now that they have the parking feature, it's even more of time-saver. You don't need to remember your parking stall number, and you have a better chance of catching the train rather than waiting in line to pay $1 for parking during the morning rush. I've missed several trains because of that. The best part is that it auto-loads your card (similar to Fastrak) and you can still purchase the discounted high-value fares. Once it hit below $10, it loads $48 of BART value but only costs you $45.00. I am definitely happy with my card and much thanks to Maria D.! TIP: The parking feature is deducted SEPARATELY from your BART fare. Once parking hits below $10, it auto-loads $40. Also, there's a ONE-TIME fee of $5 for the card and $2 for the parking tag. Your intial costs will be: $45 - EZ Rider card $5 - card fee $40 - parking $2 - parking tag fee ------------------------------ $92.00 total

When you sign up for the program (currently a pilot program) you give them your credit card number, and they preload $48. Every time you make a trip, it deducts the fare from your balance. Once your balance falls below $10, they automatically top off your card. I've been using this for a week now with great success. People must think I'm crazy, magically swiping my hand over the gate and it opens.... maybe I should start shouting "Open, Sesame" as I walk through and really freak people out! If you use BART everyday, then I recommend signing up. Its a no hassle way to travel. No more lining up to get a new ticket, or having to beg for change to use the Add Fare machine.

The line moved very slow as most people wanted to ride outside. When we got close enough the folks in line said we could cut in front of them if we wanted to ride inside. So we did. The waits are much shorter here and you get such a better view of how the workers take the cars and turn them around for their return visit up the hills of San Francisco. There is only really 1 thing that is keeping this from being a 5 star review: the workers. They're all very nice and helpful (especially if you have little kids), however, they have absolutely no sense of urgency. They really take their time. And you can tell it's not because there is a hold up on the other end of the line. It's just them being in no rush to get the cars back along their way. But this is an experience you are going to have no matter where you want to get on the car. So, better to do it on an area that isn't also going to be impacted by incredibly long lines of riders.
