Fun ride over to Larkspur on the ferry. This one really goes a lot faster than the Sausalito ferry. We sat outside going over and the wind was whipping around and it was cold -but beautiful. Very scenic and enjoyable. We sat inside on the ride back which was really pleasant too and a lot warmer. My only complaint is when we got to the ferry at 10AM as the schedule said we were told it was a holiday and they were running on a holiday schedule so we had to wait an hour. We picked up the schedule at customer service and checked for return ride under the holiday/weekend schedule and it said 2pm. When we arrived a sign said 3pm. Really?? Get it together! So the whole outing took a lot longer than expected. Check the schedule carefully if you go -- but go -- it is a lovely ride. read more

My wife and I live taking the ferry into the city. Relaxing, and comfortable. Ease of use for Saturday Farmer Market is great. The one issue I have is the snack/beverage offerings. The peeled are great, but they display bottles of spirits for cocktails, but also offer Cutwater. Well, I asked for a Bloody Mary, and the gentleman pulled out a Cutwater can. I asked if they make them themselves. He was response was no. Now, I'm not a mixologist , but if you display a vodka, how hard is it to pour 1 1/2-2 oz of vodka into a glass with ice add some Bloody Mary mix, which they offer as well, and make me a normal Bloody Mary. LOOOOOVE the ferry! We hadn't taken the Larkspur Ferry in a long time (we usually take the Vallejo one). It was a great, easy, fun, efficient, gorgeous experience! Easy to find, in Larkspur, right across from the Marin Country Mart. Huge parking lot. Parking is only TWO dollars. And parking is FREE after one pm. What?! Park your car and use Parkmobile to pay. Walk up to the terminal and buy your ticket easily on the kiosks. Get your tickets. Boom. Done. Find the exact schedule online on their website. The ferry ride from Larkspur to SF Ferry Building is 30 minutes. It's so beautiful, cruising past Alcatraz and the GG Bridge....the view of the city. Perfection. I hate the ferry seating. In the old days you could sit privately with one other person. Now on the new and redesigned ferries most seats require to face strangers. I want to look out the windows without strangers staring at me the entire trip. All the charm of the ferry is gone with seats facing each other and no privacy. read more

There are plenty of departure times in the mornings, and plenty of departure times from SF back to Larkspur in the evenings. Weekend schedule is lighter than weekdays. It feels very safe and well lit, and there are bike racks inside the gates for those that ride to the ferry but don't want to take their bikes to the city. There is a huge parking lot here, and the app makes riding the ferry very easy, as you just load up your card and tap as you enter the gates. It's pricey of course, but you save on gas and bridge tolls. Also, how cool to ferry to work! Sometimes the boats are being worked on or out of service, and there are delays which can be frustrating. But overall, this is a great choice for commuting into the city for work - or for fun! read more

I love this ferry! It is such a good deal to ferry over to SF for only $6. You get such amazing views during the ride and it's so much fun just to ride a ferry across the bay. The ride only takes about 30 mins and it pretty comfortable. The chairs and boat itself are very comfortable inside. It can get windy outside but there are enough seats indoors where you don't have to stand. Parking is free on the weekends and only $2 for all day parking on week days. The scenery on a slightly misty day was stunning as we could see all the bridges and islands along the way. The ferries themselves were clean and the staff were friendly. World class views, efficient and friendly service but holy cow, bring a mask and earbuds. Every morning it's like sickest, snottiest, sneeziest people decided they would all ride the ferry in a crammed, closed environment and hork and sneeze all over each other. It's disgusting. In the afternoon the germ exposure rate is slightly better (not by much) but now you're also at the mercy of Marin moms with unruly kids shrieking and running amok the entire ride back. Make sure you have those earbuds unless you enjoy ear piercing screams and impotent parenting. The views are extraordinary but it's definitely still public transportation. read more

Convenient, reliable, not cheap for an entire family roundtrip to & from SF. Great way to get to a Giants game; massive parking lot. Since no BART is ever coming to Marin, this is the best way to head over to SF. Unlike BART that runs 'til midnight, be sure to check the schedule, last ferry is probably around 8pm (later for Giants night games). You don't want to be stuck like Chuck in SF. Super uncool from a meeting passengers perspective. Nowhere to sit in the shade on a very hot day. I thought I'd patronize their cafe but they wouldn't let a senior citizen sit in the cool, empty terminal to sip it for 20 minutes until the boat arrived. I had to sit on the ground in the shade to wait. And spilled it on my skirt so I'll look like a mess when guests arrive. They sat and watched, shrugged, "your choice." Just doing their job but a bad experience for me, not being trusted or treated with kindness or grace but like a crabby, entitled white lady. read more

Must have patience; I decided to take my niece and nephews to a SF Giants Day game; we started the day on the Smart train and walked to the ferry station to catch the boat. The lines to get on was long but it moved quickly and we made our way, on schedule. The ride back was a different story; the Ferry was delayed in arriving to the ferry building terminal and though the captain made up time on the water, there was a long delay in allowing passengers off the boat so we missed the Smart train when we were supposed to arrive with a 15 minute interval to allow time to walk to the train. Fortunately, the next ( and last train of the day) was a 40 min wait as most of the day, the wait times between trains is much longer on the weekends. Moral of the story, the Ferry is not a punctual mode of transportation so be patient and have a plan B. In addition, the fares are pricy at $15 for adults, $7 for children each way so you're paying for the experience as im not convinced it's a cost effective or convenient option to get around once in SF. read more

Friday evening 7/19/2024 I took the SMART Train to the Larkspur ferry. I pre-purchased a ferry ticket. Not much communication. I was told I was taking the bus and that I couldn't take the ferry. Unable to reach the ferry building in SF at my expected arrival of 7:50. I was put on a bus and I am not going to make it on time. No communication no explanation. Just put me on a bus. If I wanted to take a bus I would have purchased a bus ticket. I am late to take care of my 96 year old mother. The bus was not able to get me there on time. I just wish they would communicate why I am on a bus. read more

For the past 5 years, I have taken this ferry into San Francisco city for work and play. It is by far one of the more reliable, convenient, and beautiful modes of transit across the Bay. Surpassing, dare I say, driving over the Golden Gate bridge! On the ferry not only do you have an unobstructed view of the Golden Gate bridge, you also see Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge annnnd the jewel in the crown, San Francisco city herself. All without needing to operate a vehicle. What's not to like? If the temperatures are warm, sit outside and enjoy the salty air, and wind blowing in you hair. If there are high winds however, sit inside, unless you don't mind a bath on the boat - the sea spray can be unforgiving. Be on time for departure. If the schedule says 9:30am, the boat is moving at that time. You will be left behind. Mind the schedule. The SMART train has schedules that align to some ferry departure times, not many but there are a few. Parking is available on the Larkspur side of town. Before noon there is a $2.00 fee, free after. There is a bar on the ferry that serves wine, beer and packaged snacks. Do not expect cream of the crop selections. Think airplane type options. It does the job after a long day in the office, or just to enjoy taking in the sights across the Bay. Enjoy! read more

One of my favorite ferry locations in the Bay Area. Situated in the beautiful Sausalito harbor and near shops and restaurants for one to spend the day. I usually bike or walk from San Francisco and spend the day here enjoying the day then take the ferry back. It's a beautiful scenic ride back so you just sit back and have a beer or a pop. read more

So yesterday I brought my family from San Diego to come visit out here I am a local when we got to the ferry don't get me wrong it was an amazing ride it was beautiful so we ended up leaving Larkspur to SF we took the last cruise to sf The pick up time was 7:25pm back to larkspur we got there at 7:27 PM unfortunately the gates were closed and we were waving them down hoping they would open to let us in a guy looked out and looked is dead in the eye close the door and they left so now we were stranded In sf without a transportation back to marin , as Being told that the pick up was 7:25 PM Not that the ferry was leaving at that time highly disappointed was really hoping for the ride back to see the amazing view but we missed it due to not proper instructions on their end . I'm going to review this 4 stars because it was an amazing Cruise . But I wish the instructions on pick up were more detailed . read more

Took the giants ferry to opening day. The boarding people were rude, and we left late so, not only did we miss all the opening day festivities, but also the top of the first. You have to wear a mask inside, and the bar is closed. Not a good experience at all, and we won't be taking it again. read more

The schedule online is not updated and there is no way to find the new limited schedule without in depth googling. The workers laughed in our face when we asked about the time that the ferry departed (an hour later than it says online). Wouldn't recommend especially during Covid with the limited schedules. read more
