Traveling by ferry is such a wondrous experience…read more So traveling by ferry to the island of Tiburon is the only way to travel there! The Golden Gate Ferry ride offers spacious quarters, amazing views, and good snack and beverage choices. There are cozy chairs inside or comfortable chairs on either outside deck (deck levels dependent on which ferry boat you get). There are cell phone charging stations by several seats if you bring your charging chord. And staff and riders alike always seem overjoyed to be sharing the experience with you. I take this ferry several times a month sometimes during the week and weekend to visit family. This is truly a unique and quintessential Bay Area experience worth having.

Thank you Margaret of Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry!!! Here is my story: 5th Star for the gorgeous view sailing in the San Francisco Bay. Uber'd over to Tiburon from Inner Sunset. Our intent was to ferry back to SFO then leisurely muni or foot mobile our way back to Inner Sunset. The ferry ride was well organized but you need to know a few things and they are: Be sure you have your Clipper card. If you don't you will need to scan the upc code from the sign at the entrance and load your card for at least $10 OR ELSE, you will not be on that ride (There are attendants at the entrance with their scanner for your Clipper Card) Soft drinks, snacks and adult beer and wine are available for purchase on the 2nd level. Lower level, 2nd level, 3rd level provide seating. 2nd and 33rd level have outside deck seating. Restroom facilities available on the lower and 2nd level. Best part? San Francisco blessed me with a perfect weather and blue sky day so my sail back to SFO was ABSOLUTELY perfect. I'll hand it to the ferry system at large! They got the system down pact in summary? and you want to cruse/sail the Bay? Ferry is the way to go ($8/ one way per adulty)

The passengers and operators take no games on this route…read more Everyone is polite. Big time bonus points on this part. Please be ready to board this bus with exact change or a loaded Clipper Card. This is my only advice when getting on a route like the 30X. This route may be busy, but the ride is well worth it. With this route also inching through rush hour traffic, it certainly will not be any faster. Unlike the regular 30, buses are always clean especially when it operates this route. I certainly admit to that because we all want a nice clean ride. I know what some of you are thinking of. Yes, this route is operated on 60' buses. So there is no need to feel worried about crowded buses. If you are looking for a faster way to get between Financial District and Marina District, 30X Marina Express is the solution. I do want to add how one reviewer brought up a very good point. It would be nice if this route had additional service to and from Marina/Financial Districts. Overall, I like this route for the fact of clean buses and polite passengers. Advantages: - last bus out of the financial district is 7pm** - this route uses 60' buses - once again, clean buses* *Just really loving this part. **Monday - Friday -- Part of this is because some people get off work a little after 6pm. -- People complained that 40' buses are not very accommodating. -- Yes, more seating and standing room available since this route is operating on 60' buses. Thank you MUNI for making these changes.

I'm talking about the Bonobos and JCrew models that overcrowd it. The dirty 30 is a Marina staple and goddamn icon. You haven't lived until you've shoved yourself into the bus at Laguna and apologetically 'smized' at that hottie next to you. At any given time you'll overhear girls planning their soul cycle/blue barn adventures that evening, men (or should I say Eskimo brothers?) rocking their Patagonia vests and AirPods, and at least 3 good boys. Also a hard bargain at $2.75 a pop (I'm looking at you Chariot loyalists). A 30x morning is a journey that makes you proud of having a clipper card balance of greater than $20. Welcome to the new age of muni - honestly still wondering why I haven't changed my league profile to say "30X" as the neighborhood.

I came in about an hour before I was told the place was closing at 9:30pm. There was a security lady, though she was definitely nice and helpful, I just didn't vibe with this transit center. There were about three transient or homeless persons that were hanging out or sleeping on the seats. I was one of the few people there and I said as security, why don't they regulate the place more. She told me it's just normal there with the homeless. I guess they just put a blind eye to it. But think it's kind of unmindful of safety of travelers. Even as a modern transit space, it does looks nice, with very tall escalators inside, but the safety was not exactly felt here, especially at night. Hopefully they'll actually enforce things than just let things be. But perhaps it's foreshadowing how things are handled in the city.

Finally got around to checking this place out, and I'm honestly impressed. The rooftop public park…read moreis such a hidden gem. It's right in the middle of the Financial District, but it feels like a little escape from the city. Super unique layout with plants, walkways, benches, and even a little amphitheater. Took the gondola ride up just for fun (it's free!), and that alone made it worth visiting. I went for a jog around the park, which was a cool experience, but heads up. It gets crowded during lunchtime with people walking, eating, and just hanging out, so it's not the most peaceful run. One thing I noticed and appreciated: the amount of security. You can tell they keep a close eye on things, which makes the space feel really safe.

Using the BART Trip Planner I found the route there via the N Judah. I wanted to be on the Ocean Beach train. Inside the Powell Street Station, the signage confused me at first. "Outbound or Inbound?" I sheepishly asked the agent for directions. "Which way is it to the Ocean?" The agent snickered, "There's two oceans. Where do you want to go?" Fine, Outbound. Actually it didn't matter. At the platform I saw the Ocean Beach or Ball Park directions. Got it! Easy to pay the fare using my Clipper Card and I was going in the right direction. A two train car stopped and I'm on my way. I knew to get off at Irving St and 9th. The signage once again confused me. Judah and 9th is the stop listed. On this particular train, I couldn't here the operator announce the stops. Good thing I know a bit about The City and got off at the right stop. My destination was 1/2 mile away so I walked. The ride didn't take very long and it was a fun ride a glimpse of local folks and flavor. The return ride was uneventful and I proudly felt new confidence. I love public transportation and the N Judah works for me!

Today, I still like stopping here whenever I visit the city. It's not cheap riding from San Jose/Milpitas to this station $10 one way now. I can still remember old times when riding only cost a few bucks. Powell BART station connects riders to all sorts of trains/muni destinations. Public restrooms are always available and staffs do their jobs well. You will see lots of foreign visitors and often hear people speaking in French, Spanish, German, etc. This is one of San Francisco's best stop. It's unfortunate that SF Westfield Shopping Center lost its businesses due to high crimes, high cost of doing business here, and other city regulations. This BART station really had it all years ago, especially when it was easily accessible after stopping here and walking distance to the food court and retail stores. I think Powell Station vibes are still positive for commuters. Advertisements are everywhere. This BART station still feels safe in public and it does feel like home of San Francisco center. I'm still glad that their tunnels and walkways are spacious and can accommodate major transportation for event days. JPMorgan Chase ads are highly visible.

To be fair, the fares are decent and when it works, it's the best way to get around. However, the consistency just isn't there. Almost every day there is a new 'issue' or delay. The stations are consistently dirty, and broken escalators have become the norm rather than the exception. What's most frustrating, though, is the customer service. I've approached station agents for help only to feel like I'm 'interrupting' their personal phone time or chats with colleagues. A little professional courtesy would go a long way. I want to keep supporting public transit, but the overall experience needs to improve.
