Used to take BART to Walnut Creek/PH/Concord all the time due to work, but haven't been in a while. Recently I have been meeting friends in the area so have been coming in/out of Walnut Creek BART. No more free shuttles to/from downtown. I now either get a pickup ride from friends or get an Uber. My RT BART fare from Embarcadero was $13.90 read more

I've visited the BART - Walnut Creek Station many times, and it continues to be a reliable mode of transportation for traveling throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. It's a great way to avoid traffic and the hassle of finding parking in busy areas, especially in San Francisco, CA. What I appreciate most about this station is the ample parking, clean restrooms, and overall ease of access. Each train ride has been comfortable, with decent seating and efficient travel times that make getting into the city fairly quick. The round-trip fares are also reasonably priced without necessarily breaking the bank. Overall, I will continue returning to the Walnut Creek BART station for my Bay Area travel needs, especially for trips into the heart of San Francisco. read more

Not much to write here: a 1973 BART station that has been modernized over the years: - A 4-level south parking garage with around 900 stalls and bus plaza was completed in March 2019, replacing earlier surface lots - Plans from 2004 onward aimed to expand circulation, widen platforms, add new fare lobbies, and enhance ADA access. Seismic retrofits occurred in 2009-2010.) ...and as of 2025, Next Generation fare gates were installed. Swing gates with tall plexiglass barriers (~7′ high), integrated 3D sensors, and cameras designed to prevent non-paying entries while allowing seamless access for wheelchairs, bikes, strollers, and luggage. So far they've managed to keep the shady characters away! So for that latest development, that's worth an extra star in my opinion. Now... a fresh coat of paint would do marvels and actually moving forward - instead of fencing the area off - with whatever redevelopment the parking in front of the station is suppose to get. read more

Lots of new construction and housing in this area. I always liked the idea of living near a bart station - not even that I would have to use it all the time but it gives a feeling of being connected with all the hot spots around the bay. I hop on bart here after a short walk. The station is new and clean with lots of parking and massive parking structures. On the train most people are wearing masks except for this one lady talking loudly on her cell phone. 'You get like this every year. It should never get to this point. Every year this happens.' Shes frustrated and is the sound board for her friend in some sort of yearly crisis. They were talking about some boyfriend - I think the problem was her friend was frustrated about the clothing he wore or maybe she thought this boyfriend was a different person until the moment when they moved in together. Everybody is polite on this train except for loud woman on phone. Based off her uniform she is a security guard maybe going to work in the early afternoon. Generally if the people around you are stuck with you there is unspoken rule of not being so loud. Overall a very pleasant experience this time. I've taken bart many times lately and its never really crowded and seemed safe. Once in a while there is some off person but I've never seen anybody act out. read more

Walnut Creek station is pretty clean generally and well maintained. On the weekend parking is easy and plenty. Even the parking building structure seems in a good condition. Furthermore, the Bart train platforms are also clean, and the station is pretty clearly marked so it's easy to know which platform is for inbound/outbound. It's not my go to Bart station (as I prefer Pleasant Hill or Concord), but it's a really nice station in general. read more

Eh, by far not one of the worst BART stations but also far from being one of the best. Pros - - generally safe and little to no homeless (what you would expect in Walnut Creek) - never too crowded, especially on the weekends - convenient location to Downtown Walnut Creek (about 5-minute walk to edge of downtown and 10-minute to center of downtown) Cons - - a TON of construction in the parking lot and surrounding area - a bit dirty with debris and trash - old station (needs a facelift) - confusing navigating by car if this is your first time coming in due to construction and blocked entrances (signage isn't also super clear) read more

I have slowly learned to love and appreciate public transit. Being from somewhere where there are no trains, I just expect to drive everywhere. While visiting town we stayed in Walnut Creek and planned on driving to downtown San Francisco and all over, and boy did we laugh about that the first 30 minutes of sitting in traffic there! The BART system is probably the easiest and safest that I have used in the U.S. It only took us about 20-30 minutes to get into the city, and it was pretty easy to navigate how to get back as well. A lot more seating is offered than most others! This station itself was pretty clean and simple to get through. It also has a very large parking lot and was walking distance from our hotel. read more

I don't often feel in danger at this stkation unless you count the danger of being bored. Though, I'm struggling to find a BART station that delivers it all... alas, feeling safe will be the priority then! My twin sister often picks me up from here because it's near shopping that she can do as she waits, and we worked out all of our logistics here. She knows that I won't go off wandering down the road while she is waiting parked. This station can get cold and windy. Walnut Creek does however have usually nicer weather so, take the good and bad. If you see a bedraggled woman getting yelled at by her twin here that's me! read more

So spent $5.70 on a ride to Broadway Plaza. Bartable stated that the center was very close but no signage at the station and the maps wasn't very clear. Ended up to be a nice short walk of 15 mins. Many shops between A and B starting off with Target. read more

Another Bay Bart Station, really. Hubby and I stopped by when on our way to the YEE at The Capitol One Cafe. For our less than 10 minute visit, everything went smoothly. There aren't as many homeless people at this station, but then again we visited during daylight. The best thing about this bart station is the super close proximity, practically walking distance to the super cute Downtown area of Walnut Creek. If you haven't visited DWC, plan a day date and use Bart. Get off at this station and within a 10-15 minute walk, you're in the heart of Downtown Walnut Creek! read more

Took Bart to Walnut Creek BART Station. It's on the Pittsburg Bay-Point Line and it's pretty far from Fremont. I went when the Bart had bus shuttles for the closure of Coliseum-Fruitvale. Such a pain. Sundays have to transfer from 19th St to Pittsburg Bay-Point. There is separate bathrooms - didn't use. The Free Downtown WC shuttle is on the Left once you exit the train station. I didn't see the stop until I was heading back. About 15min walk to Downtown, only 3 blocks. read more

This is my first time getting in and out of this station. This station is a whole lot nicer and cleaner looking than the stations in urban areas (Oakland, SF, Richmond). There's plenty of parking spaces, but the lots here get full quick. This afternoon I left from the Lake Merritt BART Station for this station. I had to transfer over to the Pittsburg Bay Point train. Along the way I started to nod (zzzz's). I almost missed this stop if it weren't for the passenger sitting next to me. He was getting off at the same stop. What I like about this station is its location. It's convenient and within walking distance to the retail businesses, shops, restaurants along the Olympic Boulevard, Locust Street area (Downtown Walnut Creek). No, I did not almost a mile; instead a friend picked me from the station for the Cheesecake Factory. The drawback: Access in and out of the station during the noon hours is fine, but during commute hours, it's quite a bit of traffic - drivers with their vehicles parked along the side, waiting to pick up passengers to head home - yep, traffic congestion during the peak hours, making it difficult to enter the lot. read more

I ride BART every weekday for work. One star because it is convenient for. Another star for being near my house - although that's not BART's doing. And another star for being clean. However the big CON - - Parking is HORRIBLE. Get with the program BART. They need to seriously do something about the parking situation. It's a very popular BART station and it seems that the company is doing nothing to meet demands and make life easier for the customer. The lot will be full by 7:20 a.m. on any given weekday. Here's the best part - the Reserved area will be completely empty and still empty until 10 a.m. when it's then free to non-reserved permit holders. I have been on the waitlist for a year and a half and I am still the 1,325 person on the waitlist. I haven't even moved one spot! A couple of months ago BART switched to a new parking system which was supposed to help this and eliminate those not using the reserved spots (which it's obvious they aren't by looking at the lot at 9 am) and it didn't help one bit. I still haven't moved in my spot. Bottom line, either fix the reserved spot system for real this time, or get rid of it completely and build another garage in that spot so the rest of us can actually park later than 7:20 am and still use the system to get to our jobs. read more

Since I am all about Public Transpo, the WC BART station is my hub of activity. ~~~The Pro's:~~~ The station and bus ticket purchase areas are very clean and the BART operators are always very nice. There's a hot dog vender which has saved my starving ass more than once. There are OPEN bathrooms here, unlike the city or Oakland ~~~The Con's:~~~ The lights flicker and go out at the drop off/pick up area(they're either on timers or faulty) which when it's midnight and you're waiting by yourself it isn't all that fun. Said bathrooms aren't always the cleanest they could be I keep waiting for them to come up with a better system of BART cards that don't have issues with magnets. ...*Sigh read more

Cal State East Bay has classrooms at 3 campuses: Hayward, Concord, and Oakland. While attending their paralegal program at night, I tried to keep all of my classes in Concord, but ended up with a couple in Oakland. Conveniently, I could leave my car parked at work and walk over to WC BART. From there it was a short ride to 19th St/City Center. Only once did I fall asleep and miss my stop. :) I could have parked my car at this BART because It has to be one of the safest stations (tied with Lafayette and Orinda, perhaps?) but I enjoyed the walk. I believe parking at night is free, but it's definitely not during the day. read more

If you're planning a day or evening in the downtown area of the WC, this BART station is a convenient way to go. And even though it's a pretty easy walk, there is also a convenient shuttle that will take you there thanks to the City. If you decide to drive to WC BART, parking is confusing and challenging. And the street parking around the station is mostly metered and enforced in a Berkeley-type manner. You might be better off choosing one of the cheaper lots downtown and walking over. The station is also clean and safe. It also performed well during the recent Johannes Meserle rally to efficiently get the counter-protesters to and from the demonstration. read more

This BART station always feel safe! Well..it is in the 'burbs after all. There's a decent amount of parking (compared to a lot of other stations), and there's plenty of buses to get you where you need to go, including the FREE Ride shuttle into downtown Walnut Creek. Score! It's also walk-able to Target and a short walk into downtown for bars, restaurants and shopping. It's convenient because it's right next to the freeway, so it's an easy place to carpool from. At off-peak times, I prefer to park on the right side, by the buses, in the 2nd lot from the main Ygnacio Valley entrance. It's closest to the BART entrance! It's like my hidden parking gem. It's also a good pick-up spot when the drive-thru pick-up is congested. There is 1 line at this stop: SFO/SF to Pittsburg/Bay Point Station. read more

Any BART I can walk to from my house gets my undying devotion. It certainly doesn't hurt that the WC BART has the best views in the system. Mt. Diablo and the surrounding hills can be seen from the platform. Also, because, let's face it, it's Walnut Creek, it's also pretty much the cleanest station around. Although...there is not enough money in the world to venture in to any BART station restrooms-not even in the good ol' WC. With this also comes the typical Walnut Creek characters-overprivileged teens (awkward as they are) who have more expensive clothes than I could ever hope to own, droves of Giants fans all excited for their trek in to the "big city" and some uncomfortable looking middle aged folks who get up to look at the BART map every 5 seconds. Oh and also a mix of 20-somethings in high heel boots trying to be cosmopolitan by leaving the comfort of the burbs...Let's see, anyone I missed insulting? Seriously though, hooray for WC BART-at least if you miss your train, plenty to entertain you on the platform... read more

BEWARE: The newly constructed parking structure "South" parking structure, is not operated by Bart. It is a managed by a private company and cost more to park there compared to the old building, $18 vs $3 per day. Do not support the business and park here if possible, not sure why Bart did not construct the building for more parking? Didn't we pass and vote for more fundings? Plus, traffic is now even worse than before. It does not flow well. Whoever did the planning needs to be fired. Seriously, what happened to the city mayor? Not all Bart stations are created the same. Not to sound blunt but some of the more affluent areas tend to have safer stations than others. Walnut Creek is one of them. You'll still find the occasional beer bottle lying around, but you won't find hypo needles like other stations. Leaving your car here in the structure is not a problem and considering the location, this station is ideally situated right before where traffic usually backs up into the City. So what would normally take 10-15 minutes might take 45 with traffic, but by jumping on the Bart here it's an acceptable timeframe in. Plus who wants to pay that $5 toll every time. Regular police patrols, cheap parking if any fee at all, really close to shopping, food and the freeway. It's surprisingly not as busy as you'd think and neither is the area, but they lack enough trashcans. Bart will be the mode of transportation when the new stadium is built on the pier. read more

Stopped by here last week to do my annual exchange of small value tickets. Usually went to the city for that, but there's one here in WC. What I liked: -one of 8 places to exchange small $ tickets, friendly staff, no more traveling to Powell or the city. -clean area and CLOSE to Target and other nearby shops. -easy to find as it's right off the freeway, as is the PH station. Why no fifth star: -parking signage is confusing, almost too spread out, also can be tough to get a space in the morning. Usually I stay true to Pleasant Hill BART, but definitely like this stop nearby; convenient, friendly, and clean! read more

The Bart will get you where you need to go in the city, cheap fare, and you don't have to pay tolls and skip the traffic! But of course, since the Bart is always used by SO many people, tourists and locals, you can't expect it to be clean. A lot of people stand, so just be careful if you're not used to it and hold on to the handles. Please give your seat up to expecting mothers, to the elders, and people with disabilities. We were on here yesterday with a friend who was over 6 months pregnant and it took about 3 stops until someone offered their seat. This was after us loudly saying that she was expecting and pointed out that her feet were getting so swollen. But since it was pride weekend, most of the half naked girls didn't want to give up their seats. read more

Dont use the new parking structure. One of the most convenient bart stations. Their parking here is also easy whenever I go.I'm not sure if it has changed in the last few years but it used to be $1 for weekday parking and certain hours it was free. It's located across the street from Target so if you're a commuter you can shop their while you wait for your ride. The only sucky part about WC Bart Station is that their machines suck when you use your debit or credit card it always says it can't read your card so you'll have to try a few times but I think that goes for all bart stations... This is our "back up" Bart Station and I must say that it is pretty much a pain in the ass to get in and out of when dropping off or picking up the teen dream. This station is huge and has a large parking structure but a very odd way to get in and out of the station itself if you don't want to actually park. This is a very convenient BART station. I am visiting in Danville for the weekend and needed to take BART into the city for a cocktail party. My sister-in-law suggested I try this station for its convenience and boy am I glad I did. First of all, it is easy to reach. Take the Ygnacio Valley Drive exit off the freeway, and keep going straight from the middle lane into the parking lot. It is seriously just that easy. I found a parking space immediately in the closest lot. I must warn you that the signs say this particular lot is for permit holders only from 4 am to 10 am but if you're coming later than that this is perfect. There is only a parking charge ($2.50) until 3:00; after that it appears to be free of charge. It was very easy to use the ticket and parking machines with either cash or credit cards. The station appeared to be relatively clean and I saw no transients while coming or going. I took the escalator up to the platform where there were benches to wait. Electric signs and a voice over the PA system continually announced approaching trains, their destinations, and their wait times, which took the guesswork out of figuring out which train to take. On the way back, around dark, I felt perfectly safe exiting the train station and getting back to my car. Once again I saw no transients and did not feel at all threatened considering I was a female traveling alone wearing a cocktail dress. It was easy to get back on the freeway again after stopping at the adjacent Target store. All in all a positive experience. read more

The construction at this Bart station is ridiculous. Today I tried to park in the parking garage and the garage was full by 7Am. They closed the entire back parking lot. It was a disaster getting out of the parking garage there was bumper to bumper traffic. Bart recently built a new parking garage next to the current one. To my surprise when I drove to the new parking garage it's $18/day. This make no sense when the other parking is only $3/ day. I am very disappointed and mad that they built this garage. I was late to work and I had to pay $18 a day which is ridiculous. This new parking garage should have never been built. What a joke! read more

I have fond, fuzzy memories of riding BART often as a young teenager. It was an adventure to hop on in the east bay and shoot over to the big city, absorbing the sights, sounds and smells along the way. That exciting appeal has been replaced by a more practical approach to getting around the bay area, and bless the planners who had the forethought to create such an effective transportation system. The Walnut Creek BART station is one of the cleanest and most easily accessible along any route. Now that I live in Sacramento, I buy a relatively inexpensive parking pass ($5 a day) and take the BART into SF. It's a much more economical and safer parking option. read more

Station is fine. Frequent trains but my review is about the parking which went from bad to worse this month when they opened the new garage. Turns out it's privately owned so you can't use your Bart hang tag. And the daily parking rate is 3X the rate. To top it off they closed all of the open lots for retail-apartments and removed the double parking valet service in the existing garage. Great planning! They obviously weren't thinking of promoting commuting via public transportation. Very disappointing. read more
