How do you rate a BART station? Like this: Accessibility: 4/5 Cleanliness: 2.5/5 Customer Service: Lol! Restrooms: Is this even a category?! It's the same at every BART station (as in, less than cleanly and probably an environment best suited to enter when you're fully masked and engulfed in full hazmat gear), so I don't think I should even bother weighing in here... That's a bit unfair, frankly. The Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART station benefits mostly from its easily accessible location and the fact that it sits squarely between the Dub Creek and Concord, making it just a bit closer to a lot of restaurants, shops, and residences. Overall, it's just another train station, but it does offer a lot more options to folks nearby. read more

Newer Bart station. Large parking structure and fairly clean. Your probably commuting into the city. Its the green thing to do. Newer Bart station. Things look great at the station. Very clean compared to older stations in more questionable cities. Large parking structure where you can always find a spot. I find that that parking structure is safe. I didn't see any 'red neck diamonds' anywhere... and for me that is the test... Do I want to park my car here or not test. The train is the same no matter what station you jump on. I recommend you put your back to a wall - find a seat like that. You will feel more comfortable and enjoy your ride much more. No surprises with krazies. Probably no better way to go into the city. I tried to drive into the city a few times and never again. If its a bar night that is just krazy talk. There will be no parking spot and frustration will be the result. Bart in and you get to drink youself silly. read more

In my post-COVID new commute into SF from the East Bay, this has been a great station in the area. Comparable to the size and relative glamour of the Walnut Creek station but newer. I've had solid luck getting a seat on the morning trains into the city at this station while WC was more of a dice roll. The only gripe I really have about this station, which barely counts because ultimately it's user error, is that the garage is a bit confusing and more maze-like than I would prefer. But - it's clean and spacious and that's more than I can say for many other stops! I feel safe there at night, and have no concerns about my car. And of course, zero issues finding a parking spot in the 7:00/7:30 am weekday morning range. No major complaints, a very nice station! read more

I am such a proponent of public transportation....specially when i feel safe...and taking the bart was safe. Taking the bart on our recent mini vacay to the Bay Area was such an enjoyable time that i highly recommend it . Easy to use and understand. Beats paying the $6.00 toll to the city and you get to blog, yelp, journal during your ride. I wish Tucson would incorporate this to Tucson and even to Flagstaff. Ditch the rental car, walk for your health and avoid the $4.79 a gallon on gas! Im not a tree hugger, i still use plastic straws but i know what a good deal is when i see one. BEWARE: as a scrapbook i wanted to keep my ticket but the machine sucked it up and it didnt give it back. Once the fare is expended the machine keeps it :( read more

Horrible service. Rush hour commuter trains keep getting canceled. There is a 20 min to 30 min lead time. When a train is canceled the next train does not come until 20-30min later. This causes overcrowded trains and compounds the delays. They also don't use the new trains on this line. They still use the two door trains that limits boarding time of overcrowded trains. read more

The Pleasant Hill BART Station is generally very safe, and safer than most. Parking is relatively easy, and paying for it is easy via their BART App. Having your Clipper Card on your smartphone makes it very convenient. I said it was safe, but that doesn't mean not being observant to your surroundings. Be alert, and get your head out of your smartphone and pay attention. Also takes about 90 minute to get to SFO. My go-to station when going to Oracle Park, downtown SF, or SFO. read more

I like this station so much I've started coming (slightly) out of my way for it rather than going to Walnut Creek in the mornings. It's cleaner, less crowded, and has a cute little cafe selling coffee and snacks, in case you have a hankering for a slice of pizza before your morning commute. The Contra Costa Centre community and Iron Horse Trail make this feel like an especially safe and well-surveillanced station. I enjoy walking here via the Contra Costa Canal trail in the mornings, and will often make the overhead bridge on Treat my destination during trail runs on the weekends. There seems to be plenty of parking, and the drop-off process is a lot cleaner and less traffic-y than other stations. Glad I finally figured out that I live close to this station - it's made my mornings a whole lot less crappy! read more

What can I say, except the BART Stations out in the suburbs are much cleaner and nicer looking than the ones I have seen in Oakland (from the Coliseum to the MacArthur Stations). The only exception of the Oakland stops is the Rockridge Station on College Avenue. Last month my husband and I were heading to the CALPERS office. Unfortunately, we got off at the wrong station, Walnut Creek. I did not want to make the same mistake again and decided to take photos of the buildings near this station; thus, I would not get lost. It's not that often that we travel out this way via public transportation to take care of business at the Pacific Plaza Building at 1340 Treat Blvd., which is approximately 2 to 2.5 blocks from the Pleasant Hill BART Station. The surroundings of the Pleasant Hill Station seem serene and calm compared to the busier stations in San Francisco and Oakland...less drama and less noise. I will have to come back out here in the future. I saw something on the Pleasant Hill platform that is somewhat antiquated these days...a public telephone with the telephone book dangling on a chain...and I did not take a photo of it, but I was chuckling to myself. read more

I grew up in Walnut Creek, about a mile from PH BART. This was the station I took to get to the airport, punk rock concerts in sf, and even once to visit a friend in Millbrae. I could walk the short distance from my parent's home if I didn't want to park in their lot. This is easily my favorite BART station. Parking here is still free and usually pretty easy to find a spot (outside of weekday commuter hours - I'm sure all BART stations have limited parking at those times.) In recent years they've built a community around this station so there are a handful of businesses and coffee shops nearby. There is also a small snack/coffee room on their property near the ticketing machines. I've never used the public restrooms here, but I have interacted with the employees and they've generally been very helpful and nice. read more

This Bart station is much nicer and cleaner then other locations. The attendants are friendly and understand that each riders time is sensitive. The train coming from SF directly to P Hill is always less crowded and your guaranteed a seat. There are two unisex restrooms. The restroom conditions are descent because they do try and keep it clean. Plenty of soap and toilet paper. The added bonus here is that they have a little convenience store with coffee, hot foods and beverages. Lastly, on Friday's they have the off the grid events with live music which is just a bart ride away. read more

As far as BART stations go, this is one of the nicer ones. I used this station almost daily, for about a year. I've since used it sporadically. Not much has changed about the experience. It's fine. There's police presence here, even though it's probably one of the locations I see the least amount of skip fares (perhaps it's the police presence here that results in that). It's near shopping and that's my primary use for it now. read more

This is a standard, suburban BART with functional, but slightly dirty bathrooms. There's a place to grab a slightly expensive breakfast or lunch. The homeless guy who calls it home has a great act where he pretends to need money for a BART card but never puts any of the change I give him in the machine. Instead, he just stands in front of the machine pretending to put change in. It's endearing, really. I'd give him more than just a few nickels if he just said "Look, dude, I want some meth. Help me out?" The PH BART is also a hub for the Contra Costa County bus line and you can grab a nigh infinite number of buses of various lines here. You can get to most of CC County on bus from here, including to the Walnut Creek BART, which seems counter intuitive. There's also ample parking and a really nice multi-use apartment and shop complex next door. This is a well placed, convenient, and useful BART stop with minimal pigeon poo. read more

I love that they now have a small coffee/tea cafe. It makes waiting for your ride a heck of a lot more comfortable. Their pick up drop off area is much easier/larger to get in and out of than WC's as well. It's generally less shadowy and feels more bright. There's even seating next to the waiting area... wow, think of that. read more

This is probably the best BART station for those heading to San Francisco from the Sacramento Valley. The station is closer to Interstate 680 than Walnut Creek with easier access to 80 for residents of Fairfield, Vacaville, Sacramento, and beyond. This station allows for "one seat" service to downtown San Francisco and the SFO airport and runs all night long. There is a huge parking garage for easy parking, although the station itself is old and needs a facelift. There are restrooms which are not the best, but they are the only option heading downtown. If you time it right, you can be in the City nearly as fast as driving without the hassle! read more

I suppose I would have given this station 4 stars, because it has more parking than most BART stations, and it only cost $1 (for now). However, this station loses a star for being under construction for over a year and a half. Lots of plywood herding the masses into small corridors leading inevitably to a horrific journey on the nation's dirtiest and most unreliable transit system. But I digress. This review isn't about BART trains and service, but the station itself. Taxis are readily available along the curb across from the parking structure, and buses are pretty regular on the opposite side of the station. The escalators seem to be surprisingly operational here, even though BART maintains them. Another negative thing that should be mentioned, there are no ATMs anywhere in or around this station. This never made much sense, since BART is cash only once you get through the turnstiles. Oh well, nothing BART makes much sense to me, but this station is cleaner and more convenient than most. read more

When I need to travel via Bart, this is my go to station. I think the North Concord station is technically closer to my house but I don't like driving that direction. So I come here. My favorite part of this station is the parking garage. I never have an issue finding parking. Usually I can find a good spot close to the ground floor. Its free by the way, during certain normal working hours. The elevators have never worked. Not as long as Ive been coming here. I don't mind. I usually take the stairs anyway. The structures are clean. There is plenty of ticket kiosks as well. Its a really nice location for a station. It will be my go to for a long time. read more

There is also a video rental/coffee place right outside the station. Never used them, but seen a lot of people do so. On random afternoons some women are peddling Take Away Meals from a table at the exit gates. They don't do the hard sell, which is cool. There is also this adorable little boy who DOES do the hard sell with his school fundraiser chocolate bars. The poor little guy stands and screams his little sales pitch over and over while his mum chats on the phone on the bench next to him. His chocolate bars are $2 a piece. I bought one once in the hopes of resting his tiny little vocal cords if only for a minute. Haven't seen him in a while, hope he's done with the fundraiser for his sake. read more

BART stations all have the same problems (infrastructure issues, cleanliness issues, clientele issues etc.) some worse than others. This is my least favorite BART station and it's the closest one I live to. My one star review is based on the herding cattle feeling that takes forever and for the other crazy BART patrons that choose this station. Cattle Herding: In the afternoon commute you get off the train, go down the escalator, exit the station, shuffle over to the parking structure and climb the stairs, find your car and exit the parking structure. With 100 other people AT THE SAME TIME! Takes forever to get out of there. Crazy BART patrons: People drive through the parking structure and in and out of the parking structure like they are trying to squeeze a triple out of double. Scary and crazy dangerous. I'll skip this station and head over to Walnut Creek. read more

BOLD dude with GLASS..... His sooooo over f****ng DUMB!!! I've got bunch off tickets with 5 to 18$ in it. And somehow they didn't work all of them! Same day same time same station I tried all of them but it says like see agent! I went to the agent booth n explained him what's going on then he told me that all the tickets are used for enter but didn't exited!!! How could that be? I'm sure I wasn't drunk when I exit the Bart. Cuz I don't drink duhhhh,,, He gave me that mean look that might thought that I'm cheap ass chinies which is im not! That's pissed me off big time! This is the BART station that is closes to Gayle's house. It still requires a bit of a drive to get there and you're almost in Walnut Creek when you get there. BART is also developing the surrounding land as part of its urban village vision. The practical upshot of that is that driving in and parking is not a linear experience. This particular BART line also offers you a straight shot into the City and without changing at MacArthur. But it's still a long ride in...and a world apart. read more

I don't know what people are complaining about, I heart PH BART. -Parking is absolutely free and open to everyone. Right now with all the construction going on, there's also free valet parking in the lot close to the street. This is actually more convenient than parking in the garage. There is also reserved carpool parking. -There's a convenience store on site, complete with fresh brewed coffee, breakfast items, Naked Juice, random movie rentals, and slices of pizza and soft pretzels if you happen to be starving after slogging through a PM commute. The manager and employees know me by sight, which in itself is slightly embarrassing, but at least they're friendly. -They host a mini farmer's market on Thursday nights -Certain BART trains originate at PH BART during commute hours, meaning that if you catch one of these trains you're bound to get a seat. -The newspaper man always smiles at me in the morning, even if I'm only swiping a free Examiner for the crossword puzzle. -I demagnetize my BART tickets practically daily (doh. I'll never figure this out.) and the PH BART employees always patiently write out refund forms and passes for me without a hint of annoyance. -Soon there will be a library vending machine, where you can borrow and return books using your library card. Coolest idea ever! -There's a transit village in the works with housing, stores, offices, etc. I'm all for efficient use of city space, so this will be quite exciting once it's complete. read more

A friend of mine lives in the apartments near the station. As I was leaving his place to get back to the city, my ticket was rejected. I go to the agent--a very surly man--who after a good minute carefully scrutinizing my bum ticket gives me a new one. "do you have a cell phone?" he asks, and was just as snippy as can be. "yes" i say. "don't put your ticket next to your cell phone". Thanks for schooling me, SIR. And here I thought it was putting the ticket in the microwave and then running it through the dishwasher that did it in. Oh, the Bart station's okay, as far as stations go. I'd like it better if they served alcohol. Just don't put your ticket next to your phone, or you'll have to deal with Little Mr. Sunshine. read more

While I don't love BART, I gotta say that I enjoy having a 1 hour commute, door to door. While that may frighten some of you, it's a huge improvement for me who used to commute via ferry from Vallejo. I'd typically commute 1.5 hours one way. BART is relatively fast and certainly efficient. Even if you miss one train, you can wait 10 minutes to catch the next one. read more

TL;DR: They have bathrooms that are reasonably clean and good sized parking lots. parking $1 during the week. This is my station of choice for my commute. I come here every M-F without fail, and head into the city. You're usually safe to find parking up until about 8:15 am, anything beyond that is a little dicey. The lots are well lit, and the daily fee (anywhere in the lot from 10-4 I believe) is 1 dollar, which is very respectable considering the prices for parking in the city. Early mornings there's a train coming almost every 7-10 minutes, one to Daily City, the other to the Airport. Its rather convenient, then about ~8:30ish it scales back to 1 every 15 minutes. The bathrooms are usually clean (at least the men's, at any rate), and I've never had issue with my car there or other riders, etc. etc. I also highly suggest investing in a Clipper Card, as it makes travel on the Bart trains super convenient, and you're not always waiting for a ticket if you pre/auto load your card with a credit card. Mine gets deducted directly from my paycheck with Clipper Direct, which is even better cause its taken out pre-tax =) Its also apparently a major bus hub, so if you are completely public transit, then this is definitely your station of choice. read more

I'm staying in the East Bay for the week and needed to get to SF. NO way I'm driving, so BART is the way to go. This station reminds me it's built in a very dense area and seems squashed right in with the rest of the buildings of Walnut Creek as is the parking structure. We were lucky to get a free shuttle to BART from the hotel, so no parking worries. It's a fairly busy station all times of the day it seems. Stations like Orinda and Lafayette seem more commuter stations for workers. No reason not to use this station as I now really try not to ever use BART on the line that passes thru East Oakland. Concord line is safer ... I hope. read more

I am loving my new commute... why you may ask? Well for one thing the escalators work here!!!! yeye! It is such a nice change to know that after a long day i can simply be lazy and let my poor heeled toes relax. No more 5 flights of stairs to climb in stilettos. I also love this location becasue of the new apartment complex near by. Starbucks before and after BART? Why I think so. Only issue with this one is the damn construction. Makes drop off and pick up kind of dicey and the parking situation here is insane!! Def this is a carpool style location. Oh and the machines here actually accept cash, card, and clipper!! read more

This Bart station is really nice and everything around it seems to be in place as close to each other. There is a parking lot right next to the entrance of the entrance which is great when you are on your way to catch a train or on your way home. The parking is huge, 5 stories , so plenty of parking. There always seems to be a group of cabs out there in case you need one. The freeway is also super close. There is also a Starbucks walking distance from the Bart station. There aren't creeps around here so it's not eerie at 1am. This Bart station is also right off the freeway which is nice and easy to find. read more

I commute to SF four or five days a week for school and the Pleasant Hill Station is great! If I'm leaving early I can always find a spot in the large FREE garage and if it's later in the day there are nearby streets with parking available. The station is the third on the line and I have almost never had any problem finding a seat. The little cafe that is there also has an impressive selection of breakfast foods and dinner options later in the day. People think it's strange when they find out your food is from a BART station, but it's a great feature when you're running late and don't have time to eat breakfast. BART is overall a great public transit option and it is very satisfying to read a book and relax while zipping past rush hour traffic. The only downside is the price of a long ride, but when factoring in gas prices, bridge toll and parking prices in the city, it's not so bad. read more

This is a nice Bart station. There's a large parking structure for parking and it's rarely full. There's also a bathroom when you pass the gates. The station is kept fairly clean. The Bart station has food trucks outside of it on Tuesdays and is also a short walk from Starbucks. read more

Ive just recently moved from NJ to northern CA. NYC, NJ Transit, and all public transit available in the tri-state area stomps out all transit options I have dealt with in CA since moving here in July. However, I am very pleased with the service I have received thus far at this BART station. Not only is it clean, but it also can be very welcoming- even at night when the nearby colorful fountains are on. Also, you see the locals walking their dogs, or playing with their children, which makes me feel comfortable. The attendants at the info desk are SUPER helpful and very kind and friendly. The little mini mart has nice women working there, and I have never been rushed or treated unfairly- even one time when I was short 10 cents. Nothing is gourmet but I must say their blueberry bagels hit the spot every time. Commuting 5 days a week to SF has been hectic for me, but I feel safe here and really enjoy the brief time I spend at this station. read more

I've never had any problems with this BART station. The parking lot is pretty big, but I think it's a bit crazy. The platforms seem a little small if there is a big crowd of people. Every time I've been at the station though, it's been really empty and calm. What I find weird is that they call it the Pleasant Hill BART Station when it's located in Walnut Creek. WEIRD. read more

Seemingly the only BART station in the east bay with parking past 8am, I've never had a problem finding a spot to leave my car. If only BART could figure out a way to make other stations feature as many parking spots.. But they can't even figure out how to negotiate a new contract for themselves so I'd put the odds of maximizing parking spots at other stations in the "you've got a better chance of catching a fish with just your teeth" category. I like this station as its a great location but parking here SUCKS!!!!!! Good luck driving up 7 floors looking for just 1 lousy spot after 9am because its non existant! You know what sets this Bart station apart from all the other Bart stations? It's literally a 3 minute walk from my house. I tried walking to MacArthur station and it's just not the same... It actually takes me about 2 hours more. I would much prefer just jumping on Pleasant Hill Bart, instead. Oh yeah, and the one time my friend was too drunk and barfing in the bathroom here, it was pretty clean. At least before the barf. read more

Very nice station. Bathrooms are not only clean, but spacious. And they have a hot food cafe, and today I had a slice of the vegetarian pizza and it was VERY good. Had artichokes on it, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, and plenty of cheese. Huge slice for $2.75. They also serve french roast coffee. They have many other menu items. read more

Bart unfortunately is very disappointing. I road it regularly for work 20 years ago and now find myself riding it again for work. I am a HUGE fan of public transpiration, but find myself feeling unsafe riding Bart these days. The trains are filthy, delayed on what seems to be a regular basis, homeless people begging and smelling horrific, and the price keeps going up. Not a fan of Bart at all, it leaves a lot to be desired. Feeling unsafe is the worst. Unfortunately, I don't see anything changing. Sad. read more
