Cleanest and safest among the Bart stations in the East Bay. Huge parking lot, a bit of a walk to the station itself if you're commuting to the city. I usually park here around 9-11am and it's pretty packed by then, but normally there's still parking towards the END of the lot (or the designated "reserved till 10am" spots) if you're lucky. Would've easily made 5 stars if it were free parking.. They recently raised it to $1. Which is super inconvenient since you have to remember stall numbers and carry cash to pay your fee.

I'm a commuting student who travels from this station to the Daly City BART station every weekday for the past 2 years, so I've got to say: this is probably the cleanest, least smelliest, least sketchiest BART station of them all! There was only one day where the parking lot was packed, but besides that, not a lot of people come here. I've been to almost every station and boarded from Hayward BART, all the Oaklands, all the stations I the city, etc. And yes - I think this one is the most safest which is a big plus to me since my classes end late and I'm walking through this BART station when the sun is already down. I'm actually also glad that there are no parking garages for personal safety reasons. They also have emergency phones across the parking lot near the light posts if an emergency call is necessary and there are also some cops just chilling around the lot if it's late. It's also a bonus that this station is pretty much at the end of the line so you're almost always guaranteed a seat!

Based on other yelp reviews, I tried this Bart station even though the Pittsburg/Bay Point one is near where I live.

Came here when I did a BART trip to SF with a friend. The overall area is nice--nearby a suburban…read moreneighborhood--with lots of parking spots, both indoor and outdoor. The fact that there is a parking garage was a huge plus for me. The fee to park here is $3/day within the hours of 4am-3pm. Any time outside of those hours is free. Payment can be done through the BART app, where you will need to link your Clipper Card number and license plate number. This is to ensure that you actually entered BART and aren't abusing the parking spaces reserved for BART riders. When paying for your spot, you input the number you parked in (located on the ground of your parking space), add your payment info, and you're good to go! It should be a pretty smooth and speedy process. I parked on the far end of the parking garage, so walking to and from the BART entrance was a bit far, but it was definitely doable. Like all BART stations, this location is equipped with kiosks to add value to your Clipper Card. There are escalators that take you to the upper level which is where you enter the train car. The train car had a frequency of 15 minutes during the time we were there, so it came pretty fast. Once we got in we were on our way!

Clean, pretty & newish-renovated station. They're updating ADA now/have been for several months…read more Trains almost always on time, lots of free parking (get a pass inside to keep inside your windshield), a lot of homeless around this station though and it gets so hot out there! It's a sad reflection of our society & times though, and not of Capital Corridor, but you will see it while you're there and some may or may not approach you (like anywhere). There's a jail nearby/down the street and when some people get released, they don't have anywhere else to go. I've seen deer and raccoons in the early morning hours. Last winter, I saw a family of four deer waltz by in the parking lot -that was something. As long as I don't see any big cats or mountain lions *=D Anyway the trains are really nice as well as the conductors and Martinez is somewhat of a hub. You can head towards San Jose, Richmond, Sac, Bakersfield etc. Check them out on IG, Twitter, their app (great for checking current train ETA times, or their website to see all the route, ticket, and pass options.

Taking the Capitol Corridor to Sacramento did not get off to a great start. We arrived at the…read moreMartinez station and found the lot was full. We needed overnight parking and at first could not find any spots nearby. I checked with the station agent who directed me (with rather poor directions) to a lot on the other side of the tracks. So we had a bit of a hike back to the station. Glad we had left plenty of time. The Capitol Corridor train certainly beats BART. Seats are comfortable and you can actually hear the announcements over the PA system. The Capitol Corridor offers a cafe car which we did not need, but that is a good feature. Once we arrived in Sacramento we had a bit of a walk to Old Town where we had planned to have lunch. We did not check out the Sacramento Amtrak station until our return trip. It looks newer from the outside than it does on the inside. Large waiting room with very uncomfortable wooden seating. The waiting area was also very warm so we waited outside where the metal seating (under shade) was clean and much more comfortable than the wooden seats inside. Signage on train arrivals and track numbers were clear. Very helpful as you need to know which one of six tracks and, of course, which direction you are headed. Plan on a few minutes to walk to your train. The walk way is nicely landscaped. Much nicer than anything I have seen with BART. All in all a great way to head to Sacramento (or other destinations) if you don't want to drive.
