Parking fills up quick like everywhere else. It's nice since it is at the end of the line so always guaranteed a spot to sit. For Bart stations not too bad as far as cleanliness goes. Lighting in parking lot is usually good.

Coming from Sacramento, we use this station as our gateway to San Francisco. There is ample parking right next to the station and parking is free on the weekend. As this is the end of the route, it is easy to get on and grab a seat for the 1 hr ride to downtown San Francisco. We get to relax, even take a nap if we want to and arrive refreshed, and don't have to pay a $5 toll and about $50 worth of parking and driving hassles in San Francisco. In fact the last few times, we used public transportation all over the city and it worked marvelously! And when we are tired, the 1 hr ride back to our car is pleasant as well. Clean station and easy access right off of the freeway!

I've gone there twice. I dropped my car off Saturday morning when I came back Sunday night, my drivers window was shattered along with about a eight other vehicles windows based on the amount of glass in the parking lot. A police report was filed, per the business card left on my windshield. The good news is I was advised parking was free over the weekend. I would have gladly paid the $3, since it will cost $130 to replace the windows. Hey BART how about improving security!

This station is not that bad. People here are usually polite which is more than can be said for a lot of the SF stations...

If you live out that way, you really gots no choice. At least I've never seen folks shooting their drugs in plain site as in San Francisco.

Ask the Community - BART - Pittsburg/Bay Point Station

Heard there's been allot of break ins? Is it worth saving the $ and riding the train to SFO versus paying the ridiculous prices at the Airport?

Hi Debbie, we take a Lyft or cab to the BART station to avoid any possible issues with our car. A whole lot cheaper than airport parking and your car can remain safely at home.

The fact that there is a parking garage was a huge plus for me. The fee to park here is $3/day within the hours of 4am-3pm. Any time outside of those hours is free. Payment can be done through the BART app, where you will need to link your Clipper Card number and license plate number. This is to ensure that you actually entered BART and aren't abusing the parking spaces reserved for BART riders. When paying for your spot, you input the number you parked in (located on the ground of your parking space), add your payment info, and you're good to go! It should be a pretty smooth and speedy process. I parked on the far end of the parking garage, so walking to and from the BART entrance was a bit far, but it was definitely doable. Like all BART stations, this location is equipped with kiosks to add value to your Clipper Card. There are escalators that take you to the upper level which is where you enter the train car. The train car had a frequency of 15 minutes during the time we were there, so it came pretty fast. Once we got in we were on our way!

Today, I still like stopping here whenever I visit the city. It's not cheap riding from San Jose/Milpitas to this station $10 one way now. I can still remember old times when riding only cost a few bucks. Powell BART station connects riders to all sorts of trains/muni destinations. Public restrooms are always available and staffs do their jobs well. You will see lots of foreign visitors and often hear people speaking in French, Spanish, German, etc. This is one of San Francisco's best stop. It's unfortunate that SF Westfield Shopping Center lost its businesses due to high crimes, high cost of doing business here, and other city regulations. This BART station really had it all years ago, especially when it was easily accessible after stopping here and walking distance to the food court and retail stores. I think Powell Station vibes are still positive for commuters. Advertisements are everywhere. This BART station still feels safe in public and it does feel like home of San Francisco center. I'm still glad that their tunnels and walkways are spacious and can accommodate major transportation for event days. JPMorgan Chase ads are highly visible.

To be fair, the fares are decent and when it works, it's the best way to get around. However, the consistency just isn't there. Almost every day there is a new 'issue' or delay. The stations are consistently dirty, and broken escalators have become the norm rather than the exception. What's most frustrating, though, is the customer service. I've approached station agents for help only to feel like I'm 'interrupting' their personal phone time or chats with colleagues. A little professional courtesy would go a long way. I want to keep supporting public transit, but the overall experience needs to improve.

Though I work only a couple blocks away, I was not aware of this station especially since I drive to work daily. Recently, while both my brother's and my vehicle were being serviced, I needed to get to my office after doing some work errands and tasks in Chinatown. This was my perfect opportunity to try this mode of transportation. I caught the train from Chinatown and arrived here in less than ten minutes. It is a bit of a walk even with the escalators that I used. There are elevators available for those who prefer or need them (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=o0jpTcz1IH4oHBq4iX3rdQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). About ten minutes later, I was sitting at my office desk catching up on my work. It's sad to see the low ridership on this or perhaps I rode it on a non-peak time. Regardless, I hope that more locals and visitors take advantage of this which would likely ease the traffic gridlock that often frustrates people in the Chinatown and SOMA neighborhoods.

That means no slashes…read more Choose the name that's the most important or that is most different from other local station names. This station has a triply unfortunate name because (a) it has that slash, (b) "Metro" is an awful name for a metro station, because it sounds like the kind of station rather than the station itself, and (c) one would assume that it's possible to access the airport directly from a station with "Airport" in its name, but one would be incorrect, because in order to reach the airport, one has to take a VTA bus (line 60) from here. Wow, so that name is awful. How about the station itself? It's OK. Like most VTA stations, it feels too small and like it's in the middle of nowhere. Again, a station with the words "Metro" and "Airport" in its name feels like it should be right in the middle of all the urban action, but this station manages to make the surrounding area feel like an industrial wasteland even though most of San José (including its pathetic downtown) is decidedly suburban. I told Dan and Jorge that there would be parking near this station, but they assured me there wouldn't be. Lo and behold, when we came back here and had to get a ride because we hadn't parked, I spied three parking spots on one street within a block of the station. The bigger question is why I continue to allow a resident of Santa Clara and San José, respectively, to tell me, a resident of San Francisco, how difficult parking in a given area is. Jorge has never lived in San Francisco, but Dan has; he should know better. Difficult means there's absolutely no street parking within a mile, maybe a mile-and-a-half. I'm sure I would have been able to find a legal parking spot before we went to the concert.
