Coming off Bart, the escalators are always off which was painful for someone that was bearing a foot injury. Could have walked to the elevator, but it was closer with stairs albeit 3 flights. The bathroom is manned but this is the second time in 3 months we've been to this station where the sink outside was not fixed. Using the bathroom without washing hands is a bit of an ugh for me, thank goodness for Purell. Otherwise fairly clean. One other sidebar. Bart allows credit card payment via NFC now for the train rides but not the parking (still Clipper). So be wary that the new change only is helpful on weekends. Weekdays, you still need your clipper card for parking. Obviously not at the Powell St station but you had to get here, yeah?

Easy access to various parts of San Francisco! The area you wait in is a little dirty but that's okay. It was affordable to ride the BART around the city and would definitely do again! We used this station the most as it was by our hotel and easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants.

Nice subway/metro. I visited New York City before, and it looks quite similar to that. You would generally need a Clipper card (though it is find if you also don't have it; you can part with a debit or credit card as well).

This stop lets you off right in the midst of the downtown action. It's some interesting sights and atmosphere when you emerge from the station .

I am very happy that the CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO has the Powell Street Bart Station!!! It is very convenient for me when either, I go to work or shopping around while getting off the Powell Bart Street Station... This is my yelp review #591 and my last of 2019 before the HAPPY NEW YEAR OF 2020 comes along!!! AND 9 MORE YELP REVIEWS TO REACH #600!!!

great place to be homeless I guess. I talked to a homeless druggist on the train he rolled me that it's safe in this place especially the n line because you can stay passed out on the whole train ride. It's a little bit smelly in the station until you come to the new part

Good enough for a BART station. This one is more extensive and connects to the Chinatown line. New fare gates helped clean up the station.

They went down the stairs, escalators, and elevators. The journey to the center was a quiet one, one of reflection, and one of solitude. It was a time to reflect on life, the history and meaning of the station, the magnificent feat of engineering, and the groceries or nom noms bought from the ancient city within the city, the historic landmark, the national, and frankly global, treasure, that is SF Chinatown. True to human form, a testament to perseverance and endurance, elderly folks were also making the long journey up the long staircases. Just like what you see on the characteristic, steeply graded slopes of SF's iconic hills, there were elderly groups making the trek up and down. The wait time was short, and the station was clean. It was very well lit, and it seemed like a very long descent. It felt safe too with security features everywhere. It was an enjoyable experience going through the station with all the arts displays and historic relics on display. It did speak to the hardships that our families endured or worked through in the old factories that used to be there. Our community has a voice; these are very important points in history that should not be forgotten or lost.

Though I work only a couple blocks away, I was not aware of this station especially since I drive to work daily. Recently, while both my brother's and my vehicle were being serviced, I needed to get to my office after doing some work errands and tasks in Chinatown. This was my perfect opportunity to try this mode of transportation. I caught the train from Chinatown and arrived here in less than ten minutes. It is a bit of a walk even with the escalators that I used. There are elevators available for those who prefer or need them (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=o0jpTcz1IH4oHBq4iX3rdQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). About ten minutes later, I was sitting at my office desk catching up on my work. It's sad to see the low ridership on this or perhaps I rode it on a non-peak time. Regardless, I hope that more locals and visitors take advantage of this which would likely ease the traffic gridlock that often frustrates people in the Chinatown and SOMA neighborhoods.

That is one of the starting points for the cable car, and we were trying to get to Chinatown. When we arrived on a Saturday morning around 10am, there was a line. It did take us about 30 to 45 minutes to get onto a cable car, but they were moving steadily, and picking up passengers. Once we got on board, however, we noticed that the line had gotten even longer behind us, so we were glad we came when we did. We took the car uphill on the Powell/Hyde line, and told the engineer that we were trying to get to Chinatown. It was pretty much a straight shot uphill on Powell, and then we exited on Jackson Street, which was exactly where we wanted to be in the Chinatown neighborhood. Because we had bought a day long pass, we were able to use it throughout the day. We also had downloaded the Muni mobile app to see where the location of the cable cars were. I was excited to sit on the outside seat, and see the cars going by, other cable cars, and folks on the street waving hello. If you are nervous about the outside-facing cars they do have indoor seating as well. This iconic San Francisco tourist attraction, very unique, cannot be done anywhere else in the country. I highly recommend going on it.

I have used the Civic Center station probably a couple hundred times. It used to be, for a decade, the closest to my workplace. I am quite familiar with it. That includes at all hours. Despite my fondness for mass transit, I have to report that this station is probably the single worst of those I know well. I swear this is true, and you can confirm it easily enough on the internet: the elevators have broken down due to human feces being stuck in the machinery. There is just an overwhelming population of troubled souls in the neighborhood. They need help; I describe the situation not to condemn the individuals but to lament the state of our diverse democracy. I still use Civic Center. I would not warn people away. I would say that if you are not comfortable with the Muni or BART to begin with, you will have qualms about this specific site. That is all.

The only thing keeping this station from getting four stars is its complicated and dangerous relationship with King Street. Median platforms are always going to be dangerous for pedestrians, but the setup of this one, especially at the east end, seems to encourage people to get run over by bad drivers, which San Francisco and especially South of Market have a lot of.

Unfortunately, the experience was stressful from the start. After booking, communication was extremely poor. Email responses were slow, often taking days. We became concerned after reading Yelp reviews mentioning no-shows, lateness, and poor service, and sadly, those concerns proved valid. Even receiving something as basic as our payment receipt, especially since they don't accept credit cards, took over a week. Confirming our itinerary and driver details also required repeated follow-up and wasn't finalized until just days before the trip. We clearly communicated that punctuality was critical because we had prepaid tours and luncheon reservations at a winery. When we finally spoke with the owner, we were assured everything would be fine. It wasn't. Our scheduled pickup time was 10:00 AM. By 10:15, no one had arrived. Calls to both the owner and driver went unanswered. By 10:30, with no communication at all, our group was understandably very worried. Eventually, we tracked down an assistant who had previously sent our receipt. She answered, apologized, and promised to investigate. The driver later called and said he'd arrive in 10-15 minutes. That turned into another 30+ minutes, followed by additional delays. In total, the driver arrived about 90 minutes late. As a result, we missed our first winery stop entirely. What was most frustrating was not just the lateness, but the complete lack of proactive communication. No warning. No ETA updates. No accountability. We were simply left waiting and wondering if anyone was coming at all. If your plans depend on reliability, professionalism, and being on time, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This company caused unnecessary stress and significantly disrupted what should have been a special day.
