My Uber account was suddenly deactivated without any clear explanation, evidence, or meaningful review process. I have consistently followed all policies and have done nothing to warrant this action. Yet when I reached out for help, I received nothing but automated responses and scripted replies that completely ignored my concerns. There was no real investigation, no human support, and no opportunity to properly defend myself. The lack of transparency and accountability is alarming. If Uber can remove access to your account without explanation and provide no genuine support afterward, every user should be concerned. I expected better from a company of this size. Instead, I experienced a system that feels indifferent to its users and unwilling to resolve issues fairly.

On 4/16 at around 4:14 PM near El Camino, this driver attempted to cut me off and nearly caused a collision. The vehicle with license plate number: This driver's behavior was unsafe and alarming. I believe this individual should not be allowed to drive for Uber/Lyft, as they pose a risk to others on the road.

I want to start by saying that Tamarind's Stewed Chicken is phenomenal -- it's one of my favorite meals, and I've never had an issue with the restaurant itself. This review is not about Tamarind's cooking. It's about what happened with my Uber Eats (via Instacart) delivery. My order arrived in a condition that honestly shocked me. When I picked up the bag, everything inside had been delivered completely sideways. All of the containers had opened and spilled. The sauce leaked through every layer -- the takeout containers, the plastic bag, the paper bag, and then all over my sink and counter once I set it down. I had to literally lift the containers out of a pool of spilled food sitting inside the bag. I documented everything through Uber Support with photos, because this wasn't a minor spill -- the entire order was unsalvageable. As someone dealing with health issues and limited energy, I rely on delivery services to bring me the food I paid for in a usable condition. Instead, I ended up with a mess to clean and no dinner. Again, I want to emphasize: Tamarind did their part perfectly. The delivery service failed badly. I hope Uber Eats/Instacart addresses this issue, because customers shouldn't have to deal with food delivered completely sideways, leaking everywhere, and essentially ruined. Because when I used the chat line, they said there was nothing they could do. Until the delivery handling improves, I can't trust ordering through Uber Eats via Instacart -- especially from restaurants I truly enjoy. #instacart #ubereats #HuntsvilleAL

So everyone knows I am a foodie. I been a customer with Uber for maybe (7) years now, and I kept getting invitations to try Uber Eats with promo codes. On Christmas I ordered a meal to be sent to a family member who is hospitalized to give them some Holiday cheer as well. What I experienced is what is pasted below and I don't recommend anyone using them for delivery services. Use door dash or anyone else who is more reputable and who cares about their customers. Here's the conversation: Uber -Why would I Tip A Thief (Conversations Log w/Customer Support) Dec 26 at 4:30 PM Uber Eats HomeInbox Order never arrived Thu, Dec 25, 8:33 PM Were you at the delivery address at the expected delivery time?: Yes Did the delivery partner try to contact you?: No Does your order appear as delivered or cancelled in the app?: Delivered Details:: I left specific instructions in the app that the driver acknowledged but, did not follow.. I phoned the driver twice he didn't answer. I spoke with security officers who confirmed that their security cameras on the hospital entry points which include the main entrance where the driver was to drop off the delivery showed no one dropping off anything anywhere on the entire hospital property. The driver stole the entire meal and is not deserving of a tip but, should be fired instead I will never use Uber eats again. First bad experience. Rhonda B. - Dec, 8:33 pm Hi Rhonda, We have looked into this for you, and can see that you have already been refunded for this order. This refunded amount should reflect back to your account within the next few business days. As such, we trust this issue has been successfully resolved, and will be closing out this thread. If you do have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out again. Our system provided this response based on your issue. Uber - Dec, 8:33 pm U Fri, Dec 26, 12:29 PM I never tipped this man. Why would I tip a thief? Please refund the $7.06 just like you did for the order I never received. Rhonda B. - Dec, 12:29 pm Hi Rhonda, Thank you for reaching out. I understand your concern regarding the tip for the order you did not receive. To process a refund for the tip of $7.06, we need to verify your identity. Please provide a government-issued ID through the app. Here's how you can do it: Open the app and navigate to the "Account" page. Select "Not Verified" under your name. Upload a picture of your physical ID. Screenshots or photos of the ID from another screen are not accepted. Once your ID is verified, you should be able to request a refund for the tip. If you encounter any issues, please let us know. Thank you for your understanding. Manu Mishra - Dec, 12:33 pm MM Why would you need my driver's license to issue a refund to the same credit card used to order and purchase my meal? Especially since you haven't required that in well over 5 years. Rhonda B. - Dec, 1:10 pm Hi There, After reviewing your account, I can see we still need more information to verify your identity before you can use the app. To request a refund, you'll first need to provide a government issued ID on the app. You should see a prompt on your screen when you request a refund that prompts you to scan a government issued ID. If you do not see the prompt, navigate to the "Account" page in your app, select the word "Not Verified" under your name, and upload your ID. Please note, you must upload a picture of the physical document itself. Screenshots or photos of the ID taken from another screen are not accepted. Once you provide this information, you should be able to request a refund. Pankaj Sharma - Dec, 2:02 pm PS I will contact my bank and have them address this matter. When one requests a ride a day before and then got a confirmation, but no one shows up is a BIG F-ING FAIL! And needed a ride to the airport to catch a flight in a timely manner, the secondary options that were given would have got me to the airport too late to check my bag wicked was needed. Not to mention my credit card was charged too, so now I have to wait for it to clear! Uber owes me not only a fare equal to what was charged, but my friend I ended up calling to get me to the airport on time should get compensation too!

Horrible experience with the UberEats app. I have been using Uber daily whether it's a ride, foods, delivery or pick up. Today I ordered a couple of items on UberEats when the courier arrives there they were out of those items. Somehow Uber wants to charge me a delivery fee as if it was my fault the items were out of stock. To make matters worse I got scolded & threatened over the phone by an Uber Rep. For that reason reached out via chat and I deleted both my Uber One sub and my uber account via their chat.

Can someone please explain to me how it's legal for uber to just STEAL YOUR MONEY?! This is the second time that a driver just decided to mark me as in the car and then take off without me and despite sending over 25 messages to uber they keep saying they won't refund me. How can they just KEEP my money?! This is THEFT AND A SCAM!!!!!!! And there's no way to call them?! So they just have bots that keep replying to me that I'm "not eligible for a price adjustment." WHAT?! I never took the ride! The corrupt driver just took off so he could make money and NOT have to give a ride. How is this legal?! They are just STEALING MONEY from us and there's absolutely NOTHING WE CAN DO?!?!?

Poor management & negligent practices. F&$K Uber.

Instead, I was shocked to be charged almost $140 at the end of the ride because of some "out of town fee" plus an additional 1.5x per mile charge that was NEVER clearly explained beforehand. This felt completely dishonest and misleading. To make things worse, customer service was unbelievably rude and useless when I called to question the charges. Absolutely unacceptable behavior for any business, especially one dealing with customers directly. DO NOT USE THIS SHUTTLE SERVICE EVER!…read more Felt trapped, pushed, and shaken -- never again I used this company in Aug 2025 from the SJC taxi/shuttle stand for a quick two stop trip to Sunnyvale during a business trip. The driver said the trip would be "about $65" for the first stop but there was no meter running and no posted rate sheet in the van. When I asked to continue from the food pickup to my hotel a few minutes away, he suddenly demanded $20 more and started becoming aggressive. I said I'd pay the lawful fare (meter or authorized rate sheet) and asked to see the pricing sheet, since none was posted. The $20 extra that he came up with off the top of his head for an extra few mins of driving seemed suspicious and made me wonder if even the $65 was accurate (Lyft had quoted me $29 for the same trip to the first stop just minutes before I got into the shuttle). Things escalated fast. The driver raised his voice, blocked my access to the door of the van so I couldn't get out, and refused to give back my luggage unless I agreed to his price (which is grand theft felony for items over $950 since drivers cannot hold luggage hostage EVEN if a passenger does not pay). After he let me leave the vehicle, I said "excuse me" (since he was blocking the van door) and reached toward the door/compartment to take my bag. He then grabbed/locked my arm and shoved me back hard from the vehicle! I felt unsafe and trapped with expensive work and personal equipment in that luggage, so I yelled at bystanders to call 911 and did so myself. Several Sunnyvale PD officers arrived and de-escalated the situation. Even with police there, the driver couldn't show a meter or couldn't produce an approved rate sheet validating his $65 or $20 fare quotes. He pulled up a "taxi meter rates" PDF on his phone to show the police, but he'd never used a meter. Later, when I paid the $65 by phone to the company to settle and move on, the company still wouldn't send a proper itemized invoice (no pickup/drop addresses, no rate calculation) even after multiple emails requesting the rate sheet that shows $65 as the authorized flat rate from SJC to this area of Sunnyvale. I've disputed the charge with my card issuer who reviewed the case and credited it back to me. This wasn't a simple "fare disagreement." In my experience, the driver used my luggage as leverage and got physical when I tried to retrieve it. I've provided video of the incident to the airport's ground transportation office, and requested an investigation. Bottom line: I left this ride shaken and furious. If you care about safety, transparency, and lawful pricing, avoid A1 Classic and choose literally any alternative (rideshare or a taxi that actually runs a meter or follows a legal airport filed flat rate). This is totally a scammy company that quotes illegal price rates and has drivers who will threaten, push you, arm lock you and hold your luggage hostage if they feel like you won't pay them. The funny thing is that this was a work trip, so my company would be paying the fare so this entire fare dispute issue was just in the driver's head and he very quickly and incorrectly assumed I was not going to pay, when instead I was simply raising some suspicions of how he randomly arrived at the $20 extra fare for a few mins extra driving. But fare dispute is one thing - thinking you can threaten, block the exit from the van, shove, arm lock and hold hostage luggage until payment is received is an entirely different matter! Note that there is another review with this same driver making another passenger feel unsafe and getting aggressive. ------- Editing my review to leave this note to reply to this shady company's management reply below. My reply to management: - It is simply illegal for a taxi or shuttle service from the airport to tell the passenger a price (such as a flat rate) that is invalid to begin with (which cannot be corroborated with a rate sheet at the destination) and then demand the passenger to pay. For example, they cannot say "price will be $2,000" and then demand that you pay because you continued the journey. - There is no requirement for passengers to mention further stops. Note, the company reply was left on Aug 29, 2025: "I respect you as a customer but how much lie you can say. You were told the price before you entered the van for one stop and you never mentioned the second stop. You gave the address to the first stop and how will the driver know you want another stop. If you are getting a cheaper price from Lyft why didn't you take it and why did you come in the taxi line. Why didn't you ask for a rate sheet before you left the airport. The police found that your at fault because you were cussing and pushing my driver I have the video. You paid over the phone and still blaming the company. No body forced you to pay you called us as the driver left empty handed after waiting 2 hours. Thank you so much and have a nice day."

Called back and the operator said the dispatcher was still trying to find a cab in my area for the pick up. Another 5 minutes pass and still nothing. Just about to request a car through an app (from one of those easy-peasy car services), I notice a red & white vehicle (a Veteran's cab) flash by and I raise my arm. The taxi driver was pretty sharp and he looped around the block and lickety-split, he's back in front of me and my companion. We have some stuff to move from Point A to Point B so we don't just hop into the vehicle. The taxi driver sees that this is the case and he gets out of the car and helps us load items (including a big box) into the trunk. Off we go. The driver knows these streets and he zips up 9th Street where the lights are timed. Good thinking! Along the way he chats about what events are going on in the City today and the neighborhood which we are passing through (the Tenderloin). He comments about the rise in car break-in crime in the TL; owners of buildings who have to repeatedly paint over the graffiti that cover their neat, uniform exteriors. He says it's so sad that the City has these things happening. Having an easy going nature, the taxi driver follows my directions to navigate to Point B (stay in the right lane, cross this street, make a right on that one, turn left at the next intersection, pull over to the left-hand side). Once we arrive at Point B, the taxi driver gets out of the car, opens my door so I can easily exit and carries the big box we had stowed in the trunk to the front door. Easy dealings to pay him the fare. Mister Taxi Driver of cab# 1512, thanks for a positive experience in your vehicle! So courteous to help with the big box! I want to have faith that there are good, hard-working taxi drivers out there. Now I know there still are! Have a great weekend Mister Taxi Driver and hope you have many more positive experiences in your taxi cab lifetime! And, hope you Yelpers come across this taxi driver yourself.
