I had a really nice chat with one of the owners there and they all seem like really lovely people--kind hearted with little kids around so hopefully they stay around for some time! They were still redoing the front of house so not sure when they will open fully but looking forward to trying more Azerbaijan food. Since I've never had Azerbaijan food before, I asked for a recommendation and he said all of the food is good but did say that the chicken shawarma was big and I was feeling a bit hungry so went with that. It came with fries and some peppers, which reminded me of banana peppers. Not spicy with a briney taste to it, great accompaniment. He also tossed in this yogurt drink (I didn't get the name) that was tasty. Overall, good food and will be back to try their lamb kebabs and the burger as well and interested to see what their pizzas will be like as well. Love seeing small family businesses like this and hope they do well!

This is their most recommended dish and for good reason. Side of fries were nice and crispy too: I also tried the grilled chicken plate and that was pretty good as well. Again, good portion! On my first visit, they offered a drink for free and I tasted the Ayran (yogurt based drink). Friendly people. Next time, I'll try the Baku Chicken sandwich. Btw, it's in a small parking lot next to a restaurant, and you should have parking spots at the back. There always seems to be a decent crowd occupying the tables near the food truck.

I fondly remember visiting her flat as a child and enjoying elaborate, lovingly prepared meals. That was my own experience, albeit vicarious, with Baku, but it was enough to make me decide I must try NAR. One time, I went with my son, who liked it so much that he plans to bring his GF next time they both visit the area. I will go for the third time with a friend in July (who happens to be a very picky eater, but she took a careful look at the menu and liked it) and her husband. Although both times I went, we had a party of only two, and next time it will be a party of three, I did witness large parties of 12 or more who were clearly enjoying themselves. What a wonderful addition to the Mountain View ethnic cuisine scene!

"Nar" means "pomegranate", which is the theme of the restaurant. There is a beautiful mural of pomegranate tree which sets the tone of the restaurant. I am sure this fruit has a cultural connotation in the culture. Came here for lunch with my team, so we were able to try a bunch of different dishes. They have two options for lunch: you can do a pre-fix (one appetizer, one salad/soup, one entree) but everyone on the table needs to opt for this option OR you can order a la carte. We went with pre-fix: I went with eggplant rolls for appetizer (this is EXQUISITE, my favorite dish of the lot. I am not a fan of eggplant, and the rolls taste predominantly of garlic and herbs). For salad, I ordered the watermelon salad - quite refreshing for summer time. For the main course, I opted for Chicken Lule Kebab (this was a full meal, came with rice and salad, the kebab was juicy, but I couldn't finish the rice, the quantity is a lot). For the table, we ordered Kachapuri (cheese filled bread shaped like a. boat - this was really and recommend to order if sharing and have it while its hot), Suzme (flavored yogurt dip - pretty good, served with bread), Mangal (mostly tasted like eggplant, served with bread). For desserts, we ordered Honey Cake (2nd favorite dish out of all, loved it) and Pakhlava. For wine, we ordered kindzmarauli (fruity wine) and saperavi (red wine) for the table. To end the feast, I also tried the Turkish coffee (and went back with a full coma haha) Our servers were extremely accommodating for our large group and I had a fantastic time at Nar. 10/10 recommend!

We came in a little bit before our reservation and had a beverage at a tall top table by the bar, and I have to note it was the only tall top table that was available, and all the seating at the bar was taken once again busy because of soccer. My old-fashioned and the lavender lemonade were both very good! I have to compliment the female bartender because for 20+ minutes she was by herself and keeping up with all the drink orders. Once again, so glad we made a reservation because when we were seated, there were only two available tables. The fried dill pickles were perfectly prepared. The barbecued bacon burger was cooked as ordered. Unfortunately, the fried chicken sandwich arrived with the spicy aïoli, but with it being so crazy busy I can't really hold it against the waitress because a "food runner" brought it to our table. We both enjoyed the fries and I did get a fried chicken sandwich without the aïoli and a side of mayonnaise. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious and I really liked the coleslaw on top of it/inside it. The hostess, the bar staff, and the waitstaff were all very pleasant, and we really appreciated interacting with Jasmine! At least eight TVs And 40+ beers on tap, not to mention an extensive bourbon/whiskey list too.
